Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Shanahan has been said to be a big fan of Locker, no?
Yes...which leads me to believe it's not entirely true. I don't think they like him enough for #10 I think they will look to take a QB in the 2nd, possibly late 1st (if they trade into there)...to compete with Alex Smith :) |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
We trade for Matt Flynn!!!!!!!! with our second round pick we select Pouncey or Casey Matthews
Yeah MS has a great guage on talent -- that's why he gave up high draft picks for DMac and Jammal Brown with the first guy being eventually benched and the second one being little more than an average RT.
The whole team got decimated by injuries and that's why we weren't able to field a very good team. But if you are seriously saying that at 6-10 we're a good team then we don't have much else to discuss. Results matter, if this exact same team went 10-6 then we could discuss how good of a team we have.
You are blaming Mike for Bruce's decision to part ways with our draft picks. Shanahan just put his foot down and said enough is enough with McNabb. As for Brown, it takes a while for a hip injury that was surgically repaired to heal. Look for Brown to be much improved next season. Speaking of surgically repaired injuries, Kimmo should be better next season also, but I still think we need a beast at NT. If Haynesworth departs then the pressure is on to come up with his replacement, maybe Marcell Dareus out Alabama who plays inside and outside in a 34 defense. What you are over looking is how Shanahan has played guys that show promise and when he puts them with better players will only make them look better. I am not looking through rose colored glasses, not at all. This team is going through a change for the better. Becoming hard nosed on defense and with Rex, or someone as quick as he is with his reads, will only make this team more exciting and ready to challenge the east. We are not too far away. |
Mike Shanahan has a great track record at finding offensive talent. His track record with defensive talent, on the other hand, is not so great. It could be arguably poor. A look at his draft history shows this.
That will change, if it was an issue in the past, because they are operating out of a base 34 defense and Shanahan will have to defer to Haslett to make the right picks. |

You can believe otherwise, but aside from the failed or apparently failed Tampa retreads(Bidwell and Galloway), this team seems to be Shanahan-built, including the trade for McNabb. |

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Build the O line damnit!!!!!!!!! You have the Outland Trophy winner and his All American teammate coming out of Wisconsin. One a guard, the other a left tackle. I suggest we get the guard.

Mallet might base his decision on the Sugar Bowl outcome. If they destroy the Buckeyes he will ride the tide into the NFL. He might still come out if the Razorbacks lose, but who knows. He might just play the market, and if Luck stays he will be the hot commodity, next in line would be Gabbert. Do we take a chance with Gabbert? |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
If Luck comes out and Carolina is crazy enough to make a trade, I would offer this years 1st and 2nd and Haynesworth an McNabb for him. Call me crazy but he just might the best prospect since Manning. This guy is a franchise QB that the skins haven't had in a long, long time. The key question is if he comes out.

I forgot about Pouncey. The guard from Wisconsin is the one I would like to have, but we really need a center also. |

Come back to reality! Why would Dan Snyder hire a figure head for a GM? He had that with Vinny! You sound like a talking head who knows not what he speaks. From this moment on, Shanahan will have the final say so on who is on this team. No more giving away picks. |

Do you mean John Moffitt because he's currently graded out as a 5th round pick? My guess is you're talking about their tackle prospect Gabe Carimi. |

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
I honestly believe that the Redskins need help at nearly every position on the field. They should take the absolute best player available and forget about need altogether because honestly the need help everywhere. QB, RB, OL, WR, DL, LB, CB, S. The only place that they are truly set is TE.

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
We need to continue addressing the lines. Regardless of our QB, until our O line play improves, Boy Wonder's passing attack will be inconsistent at best.
