Re: Stifling States of America: Heat Wave!
Yeah, but it pays good to be a little bad sometimes.
But you always need to be respectful where ever your at drinking or not. |

Maryland Department of Natural Resources - Maryland Park Service Having camped with my 4 year old son next to a bunch of drunken a**-holes who partied until 3:00 a.m., I completely understand the restrictions.
I don't understand the restriction at all. If I'm renting a spot and want to consume a few drinks as long as I'm not bothering anyone then who's business is it what I drink? If I was you I would just get up at the crack of dawn and make a bunch of noise like all the other campers seem to do. After all its just camping. |

Mom and dad at campsite tent camping with six and seven year old. Campsite next to them. Four 20 some year old guys drinking beer and sipping JD until late at night. You dont see the problem? (those four guys are not going to sit there and quote bible passages to pass the time) |

For guys sit around late drinking and being respectful of other campers late into the night. Mom and dad with 6 yr old wake up at the crack of dawn banging pots and pans around as they yell at little jimmy. You don't see the problem? |

Any number of reasons, open fires, excessive littering - just to name a couple. I agree, a few drinks is not a problem. AND, if you're smart, respectful and "not bothering anyone", you have nothing to worry about when having an adult beverage or two b/c the rangers won't be checking in on you. Generally, they come by once give you a quick howdy and make sure you know that rules exist and let you know if you have any current, obvious infractions. If others complain about you, they come back and look for less obvious infractions, and so on and so on. And by the way, I did get up at the crack of dawn (along with other campers) and, as we walked to the showers, my son & I sang the little ditty "Good morning to you" with the same gusto the partiers had singing less pleasant lyrics a few hours earlier. They were just as unamused as I had been. |

You don't see the problem?
You hate camping, we get it. Generally, you treat your neighbors with respect, you get treated with respect. Most campers aren't yelling at their kids at 6:00 am or banging pots or otherwise bothering their neighbors - 8:00 a.m.? Well then most are up and moving, having breakfest etc. As in any situation involving lots of people in finite area, it only takes a couple of jerks to f*** it up for all the rest. "Fo[u]r guys sit around late drinking and being respectful of other campers late into the night."? Yeah, happens ALL the time. |

I just believe a ban of drinking is just a little much. The rangers knew after the warning we were still drinking and they understood we were not getting outta hand. I think that acceptable tolerrance was appropriate. |

Never heard of BAC? Just because you're not ACTING drunk doesn't mean you can't be cited for BEING drunk. |

You're taking what I said out of context, I'm referring to behavior in a state park. You know, the campgrounds for FAMILY activities. |
