Re: Secondary is a Primary
I can see us bringing him back if only because I doubt the market will have much interest in him. He seems to want to stay too.
It is good info. But Hall's experience in the system and ball-hawk skills should still make him a top prospect in FA, at CB or FS. I mean, it seems like a plus we have to release him and deal as a FA situation.
Agreed. His athleticism and knowledge of the defense are the main things he has going for him. |
Re: Secondary is a Primary
Here's the thing with Hall.... his contract cannot be "restructured". A restructure is when a guy is gonna be on the team either way, and we rearrange the money to push more to the future. Trent Williams is a good example of a potential restructure.
There is 0% chance Hall comes back under his current contract, and we can release him for free (pretty much). So in other words Hall should be viewed as a free agent. So the proper question is - should we bring in free agent DHall? In this light I'm not sure I'd want him back. Not hating on DHall, but once we're bringing in a free agent I'd rather target youth. I suspect if Hall was coming from another team, no one would want us to take him.
If he's willing to tear up his contract and take less than I wouldn't have a problem with it. By less, I mean in the 3mil/yr range. He's not worth anything more than that. He should play for free since he's been overpaid the past 5-6 years. Paying top money but getting low level production. |

And I think thats the answer to the question is it time to get rid of D Hall. |
Ok, Boldin maybe wasn't a great example.
Use Mike Williams, Vikings WRs, Steelers WRs, Amendola, and so on as examples of him getting beat like a drum.
I'll give you Mike Williams and Vikings WR's - Percy Harvin, but Steelers WRs were good all year and so was Amedola until he got hurt. I think D Hall did have some bad games, but what player doesn't? |

Touché. DHall isn't the worst in the league, but is not near the best. We need that CB who can shut down or limit the catches to the big name WRs; we need to find that next Ladarius Webb, or Richard Sherman (late round pick but great CB). I feel like there is one in this draft since it's so deep in the secondary. It's a matter of finding that guy. Is it Alford? BW Webb? Leon McFadden? Mathieu?(probs not) There's got to be one in this draft |

Didn't we just discuss how DHall doesn't have a contract? There's nothing to tear up! Just read a couple of previous posts to connect to the thread if you want to make a comment... Sheesh. In fact, I just re-read your post. It contributes nothing to the discussion unless the novel concept of a player playing for free catches on. |

Oh haha. Well honestly Darrelle is the best corner in the nfl. Hands down. Not Sherman. Not Webb. It's Darrelle. The only reason why I don't want him is because he is going to command a load of money. And the jets aren't going to trade him cheap either. We don't have picks. We need to draft draft draft occasional free agent draft draft draft. |

HENCE the discussion of cutting him and bringing him back. He's not a UFA until he's cut. UNTIL that time, he's got a contract. If nothing I said contributes to the discussion, than I suggest you put me on ignore and go on with your life. If you couldn't pull the point out of the post I made than I don't know what to tell you. TL: DR - I'd take him back at around 2-3mil/yr. |

I can see it now. ESPN Breaking News: Washington Redskins do not have a 1st round pick until 2018. |

Hear, hear, this man speaks the truth! |
Re: Secondary is a Primary
I say we definitely keep Hall. He does get burned sometimes, but didn't he pick off four passes last season? The more RG3, Morris, and Co. get the ball, the better. Also, I just can't see us spending three draft picks on DB's. We also need a good pass rusher.

Re: Secondary is a Primary
I think Hall is up and down yes but he played good down the stretch, it is not logical at all to cut a man without having a replacement in place imo and you cant count on a rookie to come in and start.

DHall may be still be under contract, but that contract doesn't include playing football for the Redskins in 2013 at this point... And we do not have to cut him to make him go away. By the way, I would agree that he's worth the 2-3 million/yr. you suggest. Must have been in a bad mood when I posted, sorry, I'll take your suggestion to put you on my ignore list under advisement though. :) |
