Re: Redskins trade for Free Safety Dashon Goldson
I really dont see how folks can knock this move when we had NOTHING at FS prior to this addition. I like and fully trust in what SM is doing. Two big strong physical corners, two hard hitting safties, a big strong DL rotation, add a pass rushing OLB in the draft to team with Kerrigan and this Defense is being built alot like a low budget Seahawks team. Which last i checked seemed to be a pretty good blueprint to follow. You cant redo this all overnight nor can you have or afford pro bowl players at every postion. But i love what we are doing so far....2 thumbs up to SM!!

Agreed. This was a smart move. Would have rather we wait until he was cut, but given how little we gave, I can't complain at all. |

But if we wait until he's cut, and another team wants him they get him or we get a bidding war for him. |
This team is in full rebuild mode. So to me, that means I'm not signing anyone 30 or over. No more stop gaps. Period. Personally I would have looked at the draft or undrafted free agents to fill FS. And even though this is a draft swap, we're still out a 6th rounder this year.
What's SM's strength? The draft and having lots of draft picks. So in his first year, I'm keeping every draft pick I can this year. Maybe we move down and get a pick back but right now, just not a fan of giving up a pick this year for a player on the decline.
Yes but if teams don't compete people lose their jobs. The future is now in this league. |

I like him already. And the move is A OK in my book. I really don't understand all the complaining. Just complainers doing what they do I guess... |
Re: Redskins trade for Free Safety Dashon Goldson
Folks complaining about this move is like a homeless person complaining because he found an old dirty $5 bill when all he had was $.99 in change in his pocket... lmao. gtfoh

Re: Redskins trade for Free Safety Dashon Goldson
for once we seem to have a coherent plan. that is all I want to see. I truly feel like we are climbing out of the basement. Regardless of record next year, we are getting better.

Re: Redskins trade for Free Safety Dashon Goldson
He has some flaws in his game but i like what he can do overall for us. I mean we were/are in bad shape up top. Wonder if Dashon/Jeron will in fact be the tandem. I think i like it. But we always seem to sign tackling safties at fs or ss. Meriweather, bringing clark back, our woes with flaws in landrys game. Now i feel like we need another cb again..... I can see him getting picks with us i dunno why.

Of course all those problems were exacerbated by poor pass rush. Really need someone besides Kerrigan to bring heat from the edge - not occasional heat - lots of heat. Then I will feel like we have an extremely competitive defense. Lot of new parts and a new coordinator though, we are going to have screw ups in the beginning, but should get better as year goes on. Know what I am most excited for? Let's see what Keenan Robinson can do behind Knighton and the deeper front. I see him shooting a lot of gaps and making a lot of plays. |
Re: Redskins trade for Free Safety Dashon Goldson
Goldson, Johnson, Thomas, Ihenacho, Robinson, Davis. I like what I see in addition to our CB's. Now draft a replacement for Orakpo and a MLB to replace Riley and we are set on D.

If Goldson can get back to half his SF days this will be a huge upgrade. I also read that his big problem in Tampa was a scheme issues. We will be running the same scheme as SF. |

When do 30+ year olds that haven't played well in two years get their form back? Basically he made no plays in TB. Just not a fan of it. I'd rather try and develop a younger guy there who will be around a while, instead of a one year rental that will probably be gone after next year, a la Ryan Clark. I do like the other moves SM has made, just not this one. |
Re: Redskins trade for Free Safety Dashon Goldson
Who says you can't draft a guy to develop?? I don't think trading for Goldson slams the door on addressing the safeties for this offseason.
