TO reply to GTRIPP I am biased:: the future is now!!! The cowboys will start romo it's time to start jason or todd
Todd is NOT our future...... |
Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
Why do people support this bum? Do you want him in anymore GTRIPP? Or do you want a fresh body?? Should we make a run at Quinn?
Because alot of us are smart enough to take a step back and look at the whole picture. While we all agree that Brunell isn't an MVP quarterback, he has played well enough to have won us more games than what we have. Secondly, if it is all on the QB, then why is it that teams are running and passing against us at will? Our tackling sucks.... how does putting in another QB fix our defense? If our defense played even half as good as it did last year, then this team would be battling for first place in the division right now. |

what's better for 2007, a 37 year old brunell, or knowing whether campbell can play and possibly starting him with actual experience? this season is pretty much shot, and brunell isn't getting better, so a QB change is going to have to be made eventually. We either need to know campbell can't play, or we need to get him experience. and just because the defense is bad and brunell piles up garbage time stats doesn't mean he's not part of the problem. |
Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
i think once the season is officially shot, he'll get in there. he needs to. brunell is just too old. he's no john elway or dan marino.

Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
most of the time brunell looks like he has to go out on the field. not like he is enjoying himself or anything. I'm with saden, that stupid thumbs up thing brunell keeps doing gets on my nerves. save your energy and try to complete a pass of longer than 10 yards

People focus on the QB because it is the 'easy' fix. Easy in the sense that it is just one player, but can a profound effect, either good or bad on the team. The problems on defence are such that you cannot replace the entire D, we put in two rookie tackles, Tennesse runs wild, we put in a rookie tackle and a non-stareter at MLB, the defence is porous against the Colts. There are two many gaps and problems on the defence to make an single change that will improve performance. Most fans are hoping that with the bye the starters will be healthy, but I think we have greater problems, on defence where even having the starters all back is not going to fix it. At some point it is going to be time to acknowledge that the team needs to be rebuilt. The franchise has played with fire in terms of secondary depth, especially at corner, this year it finally bit us. The team is in dire need of architect, in my own opinion the front seven needs an overhaul. Likewise we are going to have to develop depth on the offensive line. I find it peculiar that some of our O-line draft picks, like Molinaro, have not been able to break into the starting ranks. Most teams have depth, the Skins do not. |
Jason Campbell absolutely is the future. I think we should take advantage of Tony Romo starting in Dallas, start Brunell, give Romo a warm Redskins 'Welcome to the NFL', beat their ass, and try to get something rolling. Not a moment too soon.
Yeah, I don't really like the idea of Campbell starting his first game against the Dallas D. Brunell is a much better choice and gives us a chance to win the game. Besides, Brunell isn't really the problem. He's not calling the plays or playing defense. |

It can't be anything you've seen this season. 3) No, he's not calling the plays but he's certainly fucking up the plays that are called. |
Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
So with Brunell out these past couple of days recovering from injuries, Campbell has been working out with the first unit; and not Collins. The plot doth thicken
|
Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
the play calling is fine... Al saunders does call the big pass plays... brunell just can't even attempt to make those throws so he dumps it off short all the time.
put in jason campbell. cowboys put in tony romo... so let's do the same with our young qb. |
Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
I have a question. I just read that Brunell is not doing well in Saunders system in terms of reading the defenses fast enough meaning he ends up dropping down to the short passes far to often. If we pull Brunell and put in Campbell is that same problem going to be resolved? I don't think putting a rookie in is going to fix this problem of not reading the defenses fast enough.

old dog new tricks vs new dog new tricks. nobody expects campbell to come in and lob 14 TDs a game, and they'll have more patience with a rookie, because there's a lot more hope he can get better with experience. brunell looks for the rush, campbell doesn't. campbell is also very willing to throw deep... my guess is we'll see more ints, but 7-9 games experience to show problems and an offseason to correct them would be super nice for starting next year on a good note. |
campbell is also very willing to throw deep...
Is he really? How do we know? Just by some snaps during a few preseason games where the "playcalling was very vanilla?" I just don't see where he's proven to be so willing to throw down the field. |
Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
Elway was the greatest ever to play, IMO. Brunell was never asked to do what John Elway did. But I'll take your quiz.
A. Sure he could and he does at times. B. Good Point. C. You can't intimidate the Raiders. You beat the Raiders while they attempt to intimidate you. D. Without getting into how the nature of playcalling disallows a coach to "call a deep play", you've already made this point in A. E. I'd say he moves quite well for a 37 year old. If your point is that he's old, good work. F. I don't think so. I believe in the "it" factor, or QB intangibles. I don't think you EVER lose it, but its a subjective topic, so you can't prove that. G. Well, Elway was the oldest player ever to win a SB at age 37, so you really have me there! But 4 years ago Rich Gannon played in the Super Bowl at age 37, and was the league MVP that year. So if you are saying old QBs can't play, that's quite easily disprovable. H. Anyone who is frusterated at the team. I. I know whenever somebody is wearing the burgandy and gold some of you guys devolope a serious man crushes but the bottom line is MARK BRUNELL IS WASHED UP. I would love to have a 37yr old Rich Gannon as our QB. A 37yr Brunell cannot carry a 37yr Rich Gannons jock!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah the team as a whole sucks MB is not the only problem. But he is a SERIOUS PROBLEM. If he was a horse he would be paying a visit to good ol elmers glue factor. |

Re: It's not Brunell's fault!
No, he only scored 14 for the Skins and when last I checked, that doesn't win many games in the NFL. Especially not when you play the Colts.
Especially when the defense gives up 36 points... |
