Our second round picks have been less fruitful though, ranging from mildly disappointing (Rocky Mac) to full out bust (Taylor Jacobs), with picks like Ladell Betts in between.

man, i don't know why we don't see campbells name coming up more. there are plenty of qb's in the league who get just as much pressure as he does. i'm tired of hearing, he's young. one day, we need him to just make a play out of nothin. good, not great qbs do it all the time!!!!
IMO overall our drafts have been pretty week. Sean Taylor was a no brainer at the pick we got him at. Same with Samuels. But how many top picks have we wasted going for the 'sexy' pick. Falling in love with the next offensive weapon that doesn't pan out instead of going with the safe pick to build our team. How many great wide recievers have we drafted over the years with our top picks that didn't pan out. Yes we have hit on some later round picks, but we have missed on way too many of our 1st thru 3rd round picks. These are the guys that most teams build around.
I just wanted to point out that at the time, ALOT of the thoughts were that Gibbs was going to take Kellen Winslow Jr. with that pick. Instead he got ST, and Cooley in the 3rd round. Now that's a good draft!

The WCO is a minimal blocking scheme the majority of the time. the running backs and fullbacks are expected to catch passes, unless its a 2 tight end set. JC has too slow of a release and cant read defenses quick enough for this offense. He may be a great quarterback somewhere else or in a diffrent scheme, but as long as Zorn is running a WCO scheme, Campbell will always be average

I agree, I said the first 3 rounds are generally where most teams build their core from and we haven't done that. Yes we have hit on some of these picks, but we missed badly on alot of them also. People tend to forget about the busts and only remember the good picks. We need to get someone in the organization that does alot better job of ranking college players and hits on more of our top picks. We also need to stop trading away picks.
The bottom line is that the redskins don't match up well with physical teams like the giants, steelers, and cowboys. Lucky, we have a favorable schedule down the stretch, and we can easily finish 10-6 or 11-5 hopefully.
Methinks thou doth hope WAAAAAAAAAAY too optimistically!!!! The squeaker in Seattle will undoubtedly prove to be the last W of the season......

Maybe its like My Name is Earl. We have undo all the wrong we have caused.

I'm calling for a massive rehiring of Snottenheimer, Spurrier I'm sure he has even more guns of fun, Guys like Norv or Pettibone who know the game, Ramsey, Wuerfel, Rise again MBrunell, Heath Schuler for depth, Jacobs, Lloyd, Rod the Bod Gardner, ARCHULeta, Chad Morton, MWestrook, Tre Johnson, JTrotter, MBarrows, inactives rejoin as coaches-B.Smith, DSanders, they list goes on and on. We need to draft the next Desmond Howard people. Bring back impactful guys like TJDuckett. MCarrier and Dana Stubblefield.

It must be spring to air such honesty, this is the voice of reason

Now I must throw up.

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?

there have been some good pickups as of late too. Portis, samuels, cooley, smoot has play ok, carlos, horton etc etc.
the problem is is that there are still alot of weak points on this team. we have not recoverd from te spurrier or gibbs era yet in one offseason. The guys that were once great players have gotten old and their play dated (springs, washington, jansen, cartwright..etc.) This combined by a lot of youth and inexperience.
We lack a dominant lb, rocky has not been that impressive..and washington while i love the guy is past his prime by a couple years. Look at the age of jansen, kendall, griffin.
Either we need to part ways with these aging guys and completely go youth, or we need to STILL part ways with these guys and save the cap room to bring in more players.
Also i dont know it its a lack of disipline, or whatever but the execution has been poor for a number of years.
I honestly cant put the offensive woes on jason campbell..colt may be a gem in the waiting but lets hold our horses and look at why jason has failed...no protection, poor field position, preidictable play calling and lack of execution and clean routes by the wide recievers.
