I heard John Clayton tonight say that he has heard nothing about the Redskins being interested, but he wouldn't rule them out simply because of Snyder liking the big prize, but again he hasn't heard anything so far.

Apparently, thebleacherreport is a legitimate source now and no one - the DC Examiner writer, or his editor, noticed that the article was labeled humor. The idiots at extremeskins are having a field day with this.
Newspapers are hurting these days. Nothing like making up "sources" to stir the pot and generate website hits for the vaunted DC Examiner.

My guess is either this is a total fabrication, or the dude who wrote this realized the bleacherreport article was "humor" after posting his article.

There's no way we unload Cooley or Landry, let alone both of them. The cap hit alone would kill us.

Re: Seems like Cutler might be available.

I guess that's what JC meant by shocking changes would be coming out of Redskins park. lol.

Funny. Think about it. The Browns have a top notch QB right now and they would trade him away for JC who isn't bad but the whole deal must be for them to get Cooley. Then you have the Skins getting a not so bad QB in Cutler and a no name TE. Two teams get two people and what does Denver get. One player. I guess Denver would have to be pretty despirate to get Quinn to make a trade like that. Our whole trade would be based around getting a QB who has the same stats as the one we already have so it must be the no name TE we want and need. The Browns would almost make out like bandits but they have other holes to fill also.

I think Campbell get's this year to prove himself. If he does decent we sign him long term. If not I think that Zorn will push Brennan hard in the offseason to see if he has what it takes to take the reigns.

Re: Seems like Cutler might be available.

The problem isn't Campbell. The problem surrounds Campbell. He has an aging and increasingly ineffective offensive line blocking for him and he doesn't have a sure-fire No.1 WR. Do you guys really think Cutler is going to come in here and pick up where he left off with the Broncos last year. We don't have a player like Brandon Marshall who can pull down 18 catches in one game. Eddie Royal and Moss are similar but we lack the Andre Johnson/Marshall/Fitzgerald type of WR that Cutler relied so heavily on.
I think Campbell has done well for us under the circumstances. This is the first year he'll play in the same system for a second straight year since HS or damn close to it. He does and says all the right things. He's exactly the kind of player a team should want to build a team around. You don't hear Campbell pissing and moaning about not getting a contract extension or being mentioned in trade talks. He's a professional and he conducts himself like a man. Cutler is acting like a F'n baby! Knuckle up and play ball.

Wow. This is getting funnier by the minute. First he whines about Shanahan, then he asks to be traded quietly, then he's publicly outraged when the team complies with his original request, so he then re-requests to be traded more publicly. What the hell is going on here?

This is a circus I want no part of. Cutler is coming off as a crybaby primadonna and Bus Cook seems to be mishandling him. WTF??

REPORT: COOK WAS “BEGGING” FOR CUTLER TRADE

Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2009, 9:32 p.m.

A couple of weeks ago, Peter King of SI.com reported, almost in passing, that Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler asked to be traded after quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates left for USC. If true, this would make Cutler’s outrage over nearly being traded a tad, shall we say, phony.
Now, John Czarnecki of FOXSports.com adds some meat to the bone, reporting that agent Bus Cook was “begging” the Broncos to trade Cutler before the failed attempt to send him to a new team.
“Denver told him no from the beginning,” Czarnecki writes. “But somehow Cook has been able — how hilarious is this? — to paint Cutler as some victim in the cruel world of NFL trade talk.”
It’s the perfect setup for one of our new PFTV segments, in which we pin a nice chunk of the blame on the agent whose name rhymes with Pus Book.

Bus did the same thing last year with another client of his, Brett Favre. More than anything he's trying to get Cutler a new contract. So wherever he plays next year he wants it to be with a new, substantially more lucrative contract.

I'm pretty sure the Browns and the Jets are the teams involved in this rumored 3 team deal.

But the truth about the Redskins interest lies somewhere between serious talks and Jason is our QB

I don't understand how any of this gets Cutler closer to a bigger contract. Cutler is making an ass of himself, he's bickering with his coach, using the media as a mouthpiece, and demanding a new team.

reliable sources on extremeskins.com are saying the skins are interested. Cutler was the 12th pick when he was drafted. If Denver would take our 13th overall pick plus maybe Brennan, it would be a good deal for us. We could then trade Campbell for a second rounder to help recoup the pick.

On a serious note, aren't there other teams with more ammunition to trade for Cutler? Kinda like how Peppers wants to play for the Cowboys, but they have nothing to trade for him.

Huh? First off, allegedly he and his agent both REQUESTED a trade before the Broncos actually tried to trade him. Then the Broncos supposedly tried to comply with his request and he started whining about it to the media.

Your post makes no sense, and it doesn't answer my question, which you quoted, about how this gets him closer to a new contract.

anyone notice in that AP article they mention the cowpokes as a secondary possibility? Can you imagine the drama that would ensue thereafter? (to clarify, they just seemed to be listing teams that had cap space)

Our JC is definitely a team guy, at least publicly. That's one of the reasons Gibbs drafted him, he wanted a qb that doesn't need all the spotlight but can still make plays.

Cutler was upset that they fired Shanahan, so looking back to that it's not too surprising that he's acting this way. Still, it makes him look like L. Coles. Maybe Pat Bowlen will end up sending him a flatscreen!

Not to offer up a defense of JLC or anything, but that dude (who actually does work for a legitimate news outlet and presumably does actually have at least a few legitimate sources) cites a "source" and the guy is a pariah and a hack and we get LM's wonderful "source meter." But bleacherreport.com "the place for fan-journalists to create and critique high-quality sports analysis" cites an "inside source" and throws out a completely absurd trade and it receives half-a-second of credence? Well to be honest with you...I get most of my info from the internet and only believe it when it's reported by a reputable source. As a matter of fact the internet has had more info in regards to Skins interests and signings way before JLC, the WP, or WT. Although Cerrato said JC is our QB how do we not know that team officials did not call Denver to see what the asking price would be? I would say that Cutler gets rid of the ball quicker, has a quicker release, and is coming off a 4,500 yard season. The year before he had a 3,500 yard season. So those are a few things. Right now JC is just a game manager and has only shown small flashes of being able to take over games. Both have great physical skills but right now Cutler is the better QB hands down.
