In that case, what he's done up to this point this year has no relevance to the here and now. So all your talk about him and your team's accomplishments thus far is just a waste of time.
Yup. And that is the exact approach the Saints have been taking themselves this year. Last week's beat down of the Patriots no longer matters. Neither does any of their previous ten wins. The only game that counts is this week's game. The Saints will be just as prepared for the Redskins as they have been for any team all season long. It is absolutely the here and now.

And I really like the here and now Saints' chances.

you know what i noticed? now that the saints are winning alot of Saints fans are coming out of the woodwork.. never heard this many when they were the Aints. and watch when they lose tomorrow there will be some excuse like Oh we are resting our starters for the playoffs.. Alot of saints fans are only there for the good and not when the team was losing.. which btw has been an awful lot in their history...

I wonder if they still have bags on their heads when they're posting? You know...out of habit?

I agree. New Saints fans are showing up all over the country. We have always been here in Louisiana, but the current success is bring in many more fans. I am sure you didn't hear much way back when there were the Aints. In fact, you probably didn't hear much about our fans until recently. But, did you know there is a 47,000 person waiting list for season tickets? I know someone who was placed on the list when he was born and it took him into his 20's before finally getting them. The Saints have always been huge in South Louisiana ... even when they were losing.

I have nothing against the Saints at all...but I guess their fans don't know how to act since they've never had much success. Personally I like Drew Brees, I think he's one of the best and he's been playing lights out...but anyone can be beat. We have a couple of members here who are big fans and attend their games.

Nope. That was 25 years ago and done as a protest against ownership at not spending enough to put us over the hump. The Saints had several year of mediocre 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 type seasons and fans were getting more and more frustrated. But, they still wanted to attend the games of the team they loved. That when a few people came up with the idea of the bags. They were able to still show up at every game, but sent s harsh message to ownership.

What do you mean where were all the fans? Every home game was a sellout.

I am originally from Louisiana, lived in New Orleans, Kenner, Avondale, Waggaman, Metairie and even Natchitoches a lil while until Katrina, you would hardly ever hear them talk as much about the saints when they were losing. ive heard alot of ppl wanting them gone and not care at all when benson was threatening to move them.

I even went to the game down there in 2001, it was 10-0 in favor of the saints and the lady in front of me turned around and said "They are selling Redskins shirts for half price now."... After the game and 40 unanswered points, I told her They are trying to Give away saints shirts now.

No. I feel our fans are acting just like they have always acted when we have had success. Of course, it has been a few years since the days of the Dome Patrol when the Saints owned the best record in the NFL over a four year stretch. Two of those years ended in crushing losses in the playoffs, though.

How do you feel fans are supposed to act when their team has success?

Well, I have lived here for over 30 years and have always known a large faithful following. Sure, there have always been those people that are the fair weather types. But, it has probably been the fact that I have always ignored them that they simply don't register.

Honestly, I wasn't aware of this board last year. Their is that other board which I tried to register on last year but never was able to get my account activated. I tried it again this year with the same result. That's when I finally found this one. Good group you have here.

Don't you think going on another teams board and talking about how you're going to win the game is a little "Cowgirlish"? That's what we've come to expect from Cowgirl fans...then of course, when we kick their ass they disappear with their tail between their legs only to show up the next year to talk trash. I personally don't visit other teams boards. If I did..it certainly wouldn't be to tell them how great we are. I'm sure they wouldn't care. We haven certain guys, like Giantone, who return and talk no matter the results and sometimes to just talk football in general. Which are you?

thats basically what i was trying to get acrossed i lived down there over 35 yrs, a skins fan my whole life, through good times and bad and i guess i just hate it when ppl will only consider a team "their" team when they are winning. and when they are losing they say the hell with them i hope benson does move them.. dont get me wrong i have nothing against you or true saints fans, as my brother is one still living down there in waggaman. im sure they have some die hard fans but im sure there are alot of fans that just jumped on the saints wagon just because they are winning now..

Oh, and don't expect the Saints to be resting anyone unless we get up but 21 points or more late. The Vikings are only one game back at 10-1 with their loss against an AFC team. We cannot afford to lose a game and lose home field advantage throughout. That is way too important. There will be no excuses because there will be nothing left to chance for excuses. Every addition game the Saints play with the Vikes on their tail is that much more important to win.

No. It seemed to evolve into that. I came onto the board to learn more about your team, your fans and your thoughts. I have read quite a bit of enlightening info. Very honest assessments of the Skins' ... current and future.

I suppose I am like Giantone. I am not one to talk out of my arse. If, somehow, the Redskins were able to overcome all and defeat the Saints I would still check back into and give you my support to stick it to the Cowgirls, as well. That said, even after we do win, I still want y'all to stick it to the 'Girls.

Seriously speaking though, I really can't see the scenario where the Redskins would come out on top based upon current factors. That isn't fannish bravado, it is honest assessment from a huge NFL fan. I have read the same honest assessment from the majority of your own boards members.

Nope. It is about as far away as you can get and still be in North Carolina. I knew someone back in college that went to App State in Boone. Boone is in the middle of nowhere. You take a left at Boone and keep going and on the backside of nowhere is Mount Gilead. Probably a cool town though if you like the mountains.

I was a little skiddish up around that area for awhile. A sports writer friend of mine was covering a high school football game up near Boone and asked if I would shoot it. Well, on the way back it started snowing hard and we ended up in a head on wreck on a narrow mountain road. Somehow we were both okay. Wow. It has been years since I even thought about that.

Sounds like you were pretty fortunate to not get hurt too badly. Yeah I really like the mountains and it's beautiful when it snows but I won't drive up there when there's snow. Even during the summer the fog at night can get so thick you can't see to drive. Well I'm out. Looking forward to the game tomorrow. Either way...I hope it's a good one!

Just throwing it out there --> it is COLD outside, and a dome team coming here will not be 100%. This may be the only cold weather game they play all year.

I think we hang in there for a while, but lose a heartbreaking 27-20 in the end.
