If that is true than oh well. I could see them going after Clayton for a vet min kinda deal just because of Allen's familiarity with him. I wouldn't have minded having Housh here on a one or two year rental kinda deal. No long term contracts, especially for a guy who's already 32 and entering the probable decline in his career.

Yeah I wouldn't sign Bryant especially with his whole injury situation right now. If he was 100% healthy and ready to go I'd consider it but he's obviously not.

That'd mean that Maroney's career in NE would be over.

The Pats have a ton of picks and need a semblance of a running game, this would make sense for them. If the Pats defense were any better, they'd be a lock for the SB this season.

Comment: Clayton has struggled to live up to expectations. He is a big receiver with adequate downfield speed but average acceleration off the line. He builds to speed more than being immediate and struggles to sink his hips to get in and out of breaks with a burst in order to separate from defenders. He runs clean routes but they could be sharper and more explosive. He has a wide receiving radius that allows him to reach down and pluck the low one off the turf. He lacks premier elusiveness once he catches the ball and pretty much has to have a step on defenders to gain many yards after the reception. He is a better fit as a No. 3, or maybe a No. 2 receiver, than a No. 1. He has managed to stay healthy and play a full 16-game season only once in his previous six seasons.

Yeah, both were really bad. One year it was a groin injury and then 2007 it was just a combo of lingering shit from '06. You probably remember 2005 when he was a stud returning kicks and ints.

Also, cover 2 corners are the equivalent of running backs in Shanahan's system. Most of the time you can find replacements, while your former players go on to struggle in non-cover 2 systems.

Ah yeah, that year he went to the Pro Bowl he had multiple int. returns and he also returned that missed field goal like 108 yards.

@Dirtbag: Goodcall on Cover 2 corners, I don't think I even realized the Bears were running a Cover 2 back then. I used to think they were set for multiple years with Charles Tillman and Nathan Vasher back there. Apparantly not haha.

I agree. And 32 is hardly old as far as Wide Receivers go... Santana's 31. Housh has 4-5 good years left. He caught 79 balls last year.

I hope we get Housh but I don't see it. If we get any WR it's between Clayton and Bryant and I'm betting Clayton would sign given that Allen drafted him.

But don't expect much from him... "Coaches say Clayton is the most impressive player in practice each week, but on Sundays, he pulls a Houdini. Bucs GM Mark Dominik must watch a lot of practice, as he gave Clatyon a new contract with $10 million in guarantees just last year."
