unless we get a second and a 5th, or something around a 3rd and a 4th, or a 3rd and an average receiver (which would become our #2 WR), then I say this deal doesn't get done.
I am actually a little frustrated with how the Chargers won't even field teams inquiring about VJ for less than a second and a third. Its ridiculous.
The FO there is known for taking a stand at driving a hard bargain. It' the way they customarily do business. |
Honestly he kinda scares me in the 3-4 with how undisciplined he plays. And there have been whispers from some players that they're concerned about him too.
Recent whispers or are we talking about the Fletcher/Daniels comments about from last year? |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
We also have to rectify this knowing that given the current roster (read: age + salary structure), the 2011 team almost certainly won't be as good as the 2010 team.
There are plenty of things a team can do in the offseason to better its long term and short term fortunes. But the only thing a team can do to completely change the outlook of it's organization in a year is have an other worldly (better than 98% of all other) draft class. And we're already down two picks and retained only 2 players (plus 3 UDFAs) from this class. So while it's about 11 months too early to have an accurate prediction for next year's Redskins (or even if there will be a next year's Redskins), it's worth pointing out that any move we make that hurts our chances to win this year is doing so at the expense of next year's team as well. To be clear, I'm not saying that the 2011 team can't win. They can: but only if we ALREADY have the right balance of players to be successful now and in the future. If we cut Albert Haynesworth and have a poor rushing defense with limited pass rush, there's no silver lining. There's just decreased quality of defense going forward.
the run defense may be poor with or without him. but to me this is why the front office MUST get something in return. they simply can't let the guy walk w/out compensation. |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
I would not cut him. I'd trade ONLY for at least a 2'nd and a 5'th or a player and a 4'th or 5'th. If I couldn't get that for I'd deactivate his fat butt every game and ruin the rest of his career.

You mean MORE holes than the ones which were there in the preseason every time AH decided to do his own thing? AH is in many ways a very talented liability. |

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
i don't think Shanahan would deal him if he didn't think we could still win without him, Landry will play SS but he will in the box a lot almost as another LB i think we can stop the run, and i think we will have a strong pass rush considering Orakpo will be Blitzed a lot more with will do a couple things, 1 it could expose carter as a bad coverage man and the QB could just check to his man, or Orakpo disrupts the QB enough he throws an inaccurate pass.

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
No frigging way. We need draft picks period. Ship Fat Albert back to Tenn for a first rounder and a second or at least 2 second rounders minimum. We can use this opportunity to get draft picks back!!!!! I rather wait a year and draft a top WR than get VJ. The Draftee will work harder to prove he belongs and will be younger. Hopefully we don't get a prime dona though.

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
maybe I'm in the minority here, but I've changed my mind recently. I was willing to let Haynesworth go, however, after McNabb came out and said we can't win without him means Albert is still liked in the locker room and people know how talented he really is. If he plays like poo first game of the season, then I understand getting rid of him cause he just mentally doesn't want to play...however, at this point, he's only performed poorly because of his fued with Shanny, and it's the preseason. Why would he play hard last game of the preseason when he was forced to play the whole game? I am just not sure Haynesworth will tank it come regular season.

Well, the Patriots did take a chance on Randy Moss not too long ago. Plus, Haynesworth's contract is really not all that much after we paid him 21 m. Furthermore, the Pats D is in shambles...and I'm sure Darth Hoody would get something out of AH. And finally, the Pats have been known to be in the better end of lopsided deals. So it is plausible I would say. |

the Pats run a 3-4 guys. Come on, be smart about things.

Well I've heard in the offseason that Belichick is gearing more towards a 4-3 defense. Or at least they were trying it out. Plus, no disrespect to Haslett, but Belichick is a defensive genius and would make Haynesworth work out in his schemes. |

Moss is the only "questionable" one they have gone after. And they made a big deal out of his attitude and made him sit with Belicheat before hand. Not to mention that Moss had one of his worst seasons, and came at an amazing discount (4th rounder)...every team would have done that, the pats just pulled it off. Moss also belonged to the MOST dysfunctional team there is hands down. Haynesworth is just fighting the system and the coach. Trust me, Haynesworth messing with Shanahan is a lot worse than Moss having issues with the 2 win Raiders and Art Shell. |

While I would agree Haynesworth would be a massive improvement for the Pats, the Patriots hate players that think they are better than the team. This is the same team that got rid of Ty Law! |

I would respectfully disagree. Randy Moss' antics were well known before he got to Oakland, including off the field issues. Maybe AH's contract makes it a bigger deal here, but Randy Moss in his malcontent/team cancer prime was worst I would argue. |

You definately make a good point. He was a cancer when leaving Minnesota too, I just think the combo of contract and bad attitude / thinks he's bigger than the team is a deterant for the Pats. They do not go down those roads historically. |

His contract is not crazy at all. Its like 3 years with only 8 mil guarenteed. We already paid him the crazy part. |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
Now remember if we where able to trade AH to the pats the Redskins FO could not use any of there Jedi Skills and get more picks out of them Darth Hoody was once a Jedi he is now a Sith (I beleive that's the correct spelling) LOL.

He signed a 7 year 100 million contract (could be 115 mil with incentives), and wasn't 41 mil guarenteed? I thought he was to receive around 30 million as a signing bonus within the first year or so, but other than that, I'm unsure of the particulars. Just seems crazy I guess, but maybe you're right. |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
I just want this to end. Shanahan couldn't have handled this any worse and now the players are behind the guy he is trying to humiliate (unsuccessfully)
This whole leaking negative information to the media smells like Snyder calling the shots. Whoever thought of it looks like a moron. |

all of the guarenteed money has already been paid except for 8 or 9 mil, his contract is actually very trade friendly. |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
Bruce Allen just said "there is nothing to report on Haynesworth trade talks. The Redskins are not trying to trade him." You'd expect him to say that.
Also told Shanahan doesnt back down from his asking price. So if a 2nd and a 5th is what he wants, then Haynesworth will not leave unless that price is met. |

The fact that this is still an issue and no one is talking about Dallas is all Shanahan's fault. I know that they wouldn't be leaking stuff to the press without him signing off on it. Now his players are publically backing the guy he is pissed at. That makes him look bad. |

Also, no one talking about Dallas? Rabach, Rex, all said the starters have been planning for Dallas for the last two weeks at least. Just because the MEDIA dwells on AH doesn't mean that the Skins at work are sitting there hanging on every word. I just see this as a non-issue IN the locker room, but I have no inside sources, so if you do PS maybe you could share that insight. |

I am talking about this week. Instead of the focus being on the game, ESPN, WP, ESPN980, 106.7 are focused on AH. And every player interviewed has to answer the same question, what they think about the situation. Lavar said that this is exactly how AH would be treated. This team has executed several smear campaigns in the past. This is how they do business. |
