Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
I'm totally guessing here guys, but at his size, possibly he could be a fullback or play some kind of line position. 6 ft 6 and 286 is still huge....
Tight end. He has the perfect size and athleticism to play it... ...just like Andre Carter could play 3-4 OLB.:cheeky-sm |
Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Yeah I think a lot of people are disrespecting offensive linemen when they keep saying Russell could just play the line because he's big. It takes more than just size to play on the line, there is skill involved
not to mention, he'd be the smallest O linemen in the nfl! A no. of college qb's have made the transition to wr successfully, but it's usually taken them a few years to get playing time at wr & in the meantime they've returned kicks, and/or played the role Smith does in NY, ARE used to in Pitt. With Russell he's older & fatter, though maybe he's slimmed back down. He would really have to impress in workouts from a conditioning & athleticism standpoint to get a team to sign him w/the intent of moving him to another position. It would be quite a project I imagine. |
Just listening to Ross Rucker and Peter King call it assanine that anyone should be concerned or making a big deal out of this Russell workout.
Yes. We're trying to get better as a team. What's there to lose? A couple of non-team running media hacks are going to take shots at you? They can work out Maurice Clarett if they want, doesn't mean anything. BTW...he's supposedly pulled it together a little. Also, I'm more curious about JP Losman's workout. I always thought he would have a good career. Big arm, very athletic. |
Kinda funny how we like to blast the media for making mountains out of molehills at times.
And then a thread like this comes along.
If I was severely uninformed (no TV and from West Virginia) and stumbled upon this thread: I would think we had no RBs on the roster, a worthless unproven starting QB, a former Super Bowl starter stud at backup that we will not give a chance, and a center so hopeless we are willing to sign an overweight QB to take his place in a skill position that requires more than just girth. All this over a meaningless effing workout. God bless the bye week! |

Wonder if he can longsnap...Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Next up...The Fins. I wouldn't be surprised if worthless gets signed for a few weeks, with all those injuries.
Report: Fins want to work out JaMarcus Russell Posted by Mike Florio on November 14, 2010, 6:18 PM EST As the reader who pointed this one out to us aptly put it, former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell may be taking his talents (and his appetite) to South Beach. Josina Anderson of FOX 31 and Showtime’s Inside the NFL reports that the first overall pick in the 2007 draft has been contacted by the Dolphins in the wake of Miami’s multiple quarterback injuries from Sunday’s win over the Titans. With the Dolphins having a short week before their Thursday night game against the Bears, the Dolphins need to have enough healthy bodies to fill out the depth chart. The Fins lost new starter Chad Pennington after only two plays, with his latest shoulder injury. Chad Henne was injured late in the third quarter. The only other quarterback is Tyler Thigpen. |

Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Russell showed up for the Redskins workout on Nov. 2 weighing 288 pounds. Two weeks later, Russell showed up for the workout with the Dolphins weighing 292 pounds.
That part made me laugh. What a loser. This reminds me of Nolan Nawrocki's podcast the other day explaining his comments about Cam Newton's character, and he brought up a instance were JaMarcus Russell had been overheard talking to guys in the locker room (soon after he got drafted) about retiring.....lol |
Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Perfect example of a guy with too much$ on their hands. This guy doesn't know what he just pissed away. What a idiot

Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
He showed up in Oct. right? at 280 something, the 2 weeks later showed up in Miami at 290 something..... after 6 months he should be well over 300 maybe closer to 400, any chance he can play Center? or Guard?

All fat, no muscle. He'd get trucked easily or he'd be gasping for air after two snaps. |

You just described Casey Rabach and Haynesworth. |

Be easy on Rabach at least he givies everything he has on every play, and has been a class act all the way. Now Haynesworth on the other hand is a pile of cockroach turds |

Yes, but the guy is old and not that effective anymore; my comment was more about abilities rather than character. |

Well, at least Rabach can get out of his stance and Haynesworth is capable of embarassing scrubs(see Chicago game last year). |

That's sad. If botched snaps in the shotgun, stepping on the QB when under center, and opening up the middle of the line like it's Black Friday at Toys R US is his best...it's time to give up. I didn't even mention the TD-killing penalties. |
