Sure, whatever you say. |
With all the change we've had under Snyder, I really can't believe some are advocating for even more change. Can we just get something in place and let it ride for a few years? Amazing that some don't see that, really amazing.
I agree to an extent, although I think Shanahan has already made some pretty big mistakes, and I think Haslett is one of them. He walked into a job with some very good personnel on the defensive side, and this unit has spiraled downhill rapidly. If there's one thing Sunday showed us, the turnovers we were forcing were masking some massive deficiencies. We didn't force a turnover and proceeded to set NFL records for futility. As a personnel guy, Shanahan wiffed big time on Jamaal Brown and Artis Hicks, and I have no idea WTF he's doing with this whole Lichtensteiger thing. Put some pads back on Dockery please. I'd like to see Haslett get the boot, and we flat out need a better O-line and pass catchers. I could see us winning maybe 2 or 3 more games this year, but I'd almost rather lose out and end up with the higher pick. I just don't see this team turning it around in 2010. |
Re: LOL @ Redskins
Bull puckey! Haslett sucks, man. You can slice this shit anyway you want to. I doubt or at least hopes he's not here next year. We can talk talent all day long, brother, but the Skins have given up over 30 points or more four times this season! We've gone from a top ten (maybe top fifteen) defense to dead last in a year?!
I know that Shanahan is a good coach, but I am not a fan at all and am less than impressed with Kyle. It's completely absurd the Roydell Williams and Joey Galloway are still on this NFL roster 8 games into the season. Why not just bring up Austin to see what he's got? I mean really, is he going to do worse than zero catches? It's beyond me how you have a very capable, if not great, Derrick Dockery inactive every week while KL plays turn style with defensive tackles every game. Sure this team has missing pieces, but what team doesn't?
100% agree. And anyone who keeps blaming this on a switch to a 3-4 isn't paying attention. We actually spend the majority of the time in 4-3 looks, we just juggle it around more than with Blache. But it's not working. Haslett's scheming is clearly shit. Rabach is soooo pathetic but he gets made a captain and gets an extension?? Whaaaa? I guess for me whats even more troubling than the on-field play (I wasn't expecting more than a .500 team this year) are all the personnel blunders. The Haynesworth debacle, Artis Hicks, Jamaal Brown, Lichtensteiger, Joey Galloway, Roydell Williams (you mean to tell me Devin Thomas couldn't be out-performing these two??), benching McNabb and how he explained it, etc etc. Shanahan has made some serious mistakes. I'm not calling for his head after 9 games, but still... |

Very true. do you know who Chad Dukes is? I am just asking becasue you are from the NY area. the guy has been on DC radio for awhile and AZ radio. We are not whores, and you are not our pimps....You owe us money, and you owe us an apology, because you went out there, and you half-assed it." * "On national television, with your season on the line, against a divisional opponent, how DARE you conduct yourself that way." * "You're a joke, from the top down. Every single person on that team deserves to lose their job today. Every. Single. Person. How dare you not turn in your keys, how dare you not go out to Ashburn and say here's my key card." * "GO SCREW....Boo them off the field, and then leave and go home and go on with your life....It's not just one game. It's 28 points in the first quarter against the Eagles with your season on the line....How dare you. You're an embarrassment. You embarrassed the nation's capital, the most powerful city in the world, you spit in our face last night. You spit. Having Albert Haynesworth do the worm on the field, and they've got it on video?....You capitalize, every single year, off the sweat and the blood of the people that built this franchise, you capitalize off it. You bilk us out of our money, I'm paying $500 for John Riggins jerseys for my old man for Christmas because of what happened before you came here Dan Snyder, before you came here. Tired's not the word; wounded's the word.....You kill me. YOU MAKE ME SICK." |

Re: LOL @ Redskins
is there anything related to j brown's work ethic? is he a gaither type player that doesnt work/practice/study hard? for some reason i remember some grumbling of that out of new orleans.
yes, hicks has disappointed me as well. i was hoping for a kendall/thomas type pick up where he quietly holds down his spot. on rabach, im guessin it his ability to read Ds and call blocking assignments out that got him an extension. i dont think mawae would be an upgrade and idr any other real options at center this offseason. to be honest, id rather have a cerebral but physically over matched center considering the revolving door we rightfully anticipated having with both guard spots. in the eagles game i did see lichensteiger have 2 rushers coming at him, he chipped both guys and mcnabb got the pass off. he didnt really block either one but he was smart enough to recognize he had responsibility on both guys and chipped both instead of picking one to block and letting the other go free. it was encouraging to see |

They're not getting his reps cause they're light & not run stoppers. Daniels has always played well in that regard & can play DT or DE. Sure, he hasn't gotten many sacks since that great game in 05, but he holds his own. Blocked a FG this year & is in on short yardage packages, which this team has been surprisingly solid at. |

did he "draft" them, or was he just managing the front office like he is here? I've always read that he's not a talent evaluator, he's a biz guy that makes sure the team makes sound financial & mgmt. decisions. |

I'll even go so far as to say Haslett at the time was a confusing interview due to the fact that his stats sucked. When he was named DC I said bad move, but in Haslett's defense do you really think it's all his fault and he should be canned? People keep jumping on the Haslett needs to go bandwagon and I truly wonder if anyone would have done any better. When Shanahan was hired he already had the decision made to switch to a 3-4 defense. Due to the fact we don't have all the personel to run a 3-4 I think anyone brought in would have done just as bad or good and the same comments would be made about them. I'll agree a good coach looks at his players and uses developed a scheme around their talents and abilities BUT that's not what Shanahan wanted. Shanahan wanted a 3-4 style of defense the whole time knowing the players are mostly 4-3 style of players. I can't fault Haslett for this and don't think he needs to be fired after only 9 games. I honestly don't know what the right time frame should be but atleast give the coaching staff the time to get the right personell brought in before determining that Haslett is a dud. After next season if the defense shows no improvement to the 3-4 scheme then firing Haslett might have more merit. |

Off the top of my head don't know. Most of the starters on offense, save for Freeman and Mike Williams (and I guess Blount) and several of the defensive starters Allen is not known as a talent evaluator per se, but he has evaluated talent and made the case for players |

After next season if the defense shows no improvement to the 3-4 scheme then firing Haslett might have more merit.
Well, you've got remember that we're actually using more 4-3 looks this year than we are 3-4. And we still suck. |
With all the change we've had under Snyder, I really can't believe some are advocating for even more change. Can we just get something in place and let it ride for a few years? The constant change is what our main problem has been. Change at QB, change with the coaches, front office, etc.
Amazing that some don't see that, really amazing.
Well in all likelihood Snyders next move if this one fails will be to finally adopt the Leonis philosophy and build a core through the draft. Obviously we're better off then we were under Cerrato, who was obsessed with finding skilled players at the cost of talent in the trenches, but the real test of how effective all these moves are will be next year when McNabb has had a full year in the system. |

Why do people keep saying this? I am not seeing more 4-3 looks than 3-4 looks. If we are playing a 4-3 so damn much, then how come our best 4-3 lineman aren't in the damn game. are you counting a LB standing at the end a 4-3 front?? just dont get it. I consistanty see 3-4 fronts, 2 man fronts, and if I ever see that damn 1 man front again i am going to puke. |
Re: LOL @ Redskins
It was documented a few weeks ago that we've only been in a true 3-4 about 30% of the time. Maybe someone can dig it up. Remember that a 3 man front doesn't always mean we're in a 3-4. There are other sets that use less than 4 DL.

FINE.... KEEP SHANAHAN BUT GUT THIS TEAM. I've had enough of..Cooley, Moss, Haynesworth, Carter, Hicks, Brown, McNabb, Kemo, Daniels, Rabach, Fletcher, Portis, Sellers, Rogers, Hall, Moore, Hicks, Heyer, Goldston...I'm probably missing some more. What have we won with these guys? NOTHING!
My somewhat educated guess on what will happen with these guys: Cooley: Trade bait Moss: Re-signed to a short term deal Carter: Gone (maybe traded) Hicks: Back as a reserve Brown: Back as a starter McNabb: Back Heyer: Back as a reserve Kemo: If he'll take a cut, back as a reserve Daniels: Back as a reserve, unless he chooses to retire Rabach: Gone Fletcher: Back, he needs an heir though Portis: Back Sellers: Please be gone Rogers: Will leave as a free agent Hall: Back Moore: They''ll look to replace him Golston: He'll look to get a big payday, but will be back |
