Fat Al, and Suh on the same defensive front? Umm... That would be devastating

$100 million dollar 5th rounder....unbelievable.
Just speculation at this point, but there are two teams that seem to make the most sense for him and the Lions are one of them.
2 teams that jump out to me are Minnesota & NO; both are 4-3 teams that are/were close to contending. Teams that are looking for that final piece or two might make a deal. The Williams' in Minn. are old, I'm not sure about NO's dt's. Other than that, I've got no basis for saying they're possible, just think it would make sense. |

Think positive. Maybe Suh rubs off on Haynesworth the right way and makes him a little less like the P.O.S. that he is. nawww, who am I kidding?!? :laughing2 |

I would steer clear of the FA market. Why would anyone want ....say a diva WR from Oakland or a backup WR from Miami? An aging Safety from Indy and a draft flop out of Pittsburgh? Oh wait New England did it and won SB's (plural)
Randy Moss Wes Welker Rodney Harrison Mike Vrabel |

9 free agents in a single off season? Reading through this thread I would think that some would accuse you of blasphemy. Ok 8 because of Ngata, but the Ravens will lock up a long term deal before the end of the season or franchise him.

I don't think we should do things like that anymore. Champ would have been a great life long Redskin. He would have been great to have around in his prime but that is past. We need the team to grow and excel as a unit. a spark here and there isnt goin to do anything. We need all young hungry players with homegrown vets who are dedicated to the Redskins growth and willing to mentor the younger guys. A guy like D. Green who till this day cares about the team. I don't want guys who spent their careers somewhere else anymore. It never works out for us. If we are going to suffer thru the pains of losing we might as well suffer while knowing we are doing things the right way. In a direction to finally have a winning team. Just my thoughts on the matter. |
Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
Actually that is exactly why I like Bailey. You mentioned the venerable D. Green, Champ was indeed mentored by him. They played in the same secondary, Bailey is a direct link to our glorious past, a coach/ player type role.

Invest in a herd of high quality scouts! .........unless a non-overthehill vet falls in your lap at a reasonable rate. |

Champ isn't going to sign for cheap, and regardless the chances of him coming back is slim to none.

Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
The only info I want to hear about our Corners is the resigning of Los and re upping Buchanon another year. Only thing in the secondary is adding competition to starting FS position. Our focus of change should be fully on the front 7 of D.

Didn't Bruce Allen change somewhere around 21 players in the Bucs' big season? 9 is pocket-lint to him. |

No sir. If you want to find a football player then you have to look at SEC players because SEC players are the only players that know how to play football. And the SEC is the best conference I don't even know why people watch the other conferences because the SEC is all dat matters. With the SEC football is like a ripe tomato from God and all the other conferences are like rasins dried out in the sun. And for people who don't think the SEC is the best then look at how well dem boys done did in the ultra fair, non bias, BCS national championship. Sure an SEC man sits ahead the BCS committee but we all know it's because the SEC is the only conference for college football. From Rocky Top to Uga the dog the SEC is surely the most exciting football ever. Why I'm pretty sure that most SEC teams could easily beat NFL teams. Yes sir. SEC |

Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
The only way to make the Championship fair and impartial is to play cold weather cities. Alternating annually, how would the SEC fair in an outdoor game in Minneapolis? But that's an argument for another thread.

Why sir dem is fighting words. Everyone done know the real national championship done be held in Atlanta every December. The one in January is just for show. Like a real fancy like exhibition game. Yes sir. Now you come on back now, so long as you don't bring any gays or black people that can't play football. Okay I'm done :D |
Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
The SEC should just play each other and let every other Conf. play for 2nd place or like a Silver medal or something..
|
Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
Someone will want to come here if for no other reason to make a bunch of money. Eventually they will get tired of the dysfunction and go to a team that is a playoff contender and is functional.

Ryan Kalil won't be franchised but my gut tells me that he'll sign with the Panthers before hitting the open market. Mankins is a 50-50 shot to resign with the Patriots but between his old age and his huge upcoming contract I don't want to have much to do with him. Joesph makes the most sense seeing as how he plays a position of need and the front office knows what to expect from him, from his practice habits to his ability on gameday. He'll still cost a pretty penny but he's young and talented enough to justify the price tag. Cardinals guard Deuce Lutui (27) - Horrible fit for the zone Falcons guard Justin Blalock (27) - A younger version of Dockery, but ironically he has played in a zone blocking scheme. Still I don't see him leaving Atlanta. Ravens guard Chris Chester (28) - Great fit as a zone blocker. Should seriously look into bringing him on Ravens tackle Jared Gaither (24)- Intriguing but between the injury concerns and the fact that he's not a great zone blocking fit I don't know if I'd want him. The age is a great selling point though. Ravens guard/tackle Marshal Yanda (26) - Could be a nice fit especially with his ability to play RT but I find a guy like Chester more intriguing Broncos tackle Ryan Harris (25) - He's kind of like Haynesworth. Really talented but always misses a few games each year. After Brown he would be my favorite option. Raiders center Samson Satele (26) - On one hand the Raiders had a great running game. On the other hand the Dolphins got rid of him because they were tired of being unable to get a push up the middle. Steelers tackle Willie Colon (27) - Doesn't seem athletic enough to handle this scheme. Seahawks center Chris Spencer (28) - I would love to consider him seeing as how he's a former first round pick but apparently he's been a bust to this point. Also on a side note if you bring in Chester and Joesph to play Guard and resign Brown you would have 4 Offensive Lineman from Oklahoma which besides upgrading the line would also help to serve giving Orakpo that extra bit of motivation during practice. |

Key word in my original post was SOME. I didn't say sign all of them. Just some of the ones I thought could be a good upgrade. But then again, maybe I am going for blasphemous. |

He used to play more NT. He still does sometimes since the Ravens move him around. But now he is primarily a DE. |

So he is definitely capable of playing the NT, however I don't think that will even matter as he will probably never hit the market for us to find out. Nice pipe dream though. If we got a nice ILB like Ruud and drafted an OLB like Von Miller, we would be set at the LB position. And seeing as we have many needs that need to be addressed in the draft, why not just sign Franklin from 49ers to play NT while were at it?! |
