Watch it again. 2 Giants fell to the ground like they were shot (possible in NJ).
The LB #57 Williams looked over and saw Grant was on the ground too and immediately got back up. If you're not embarrassed by that...wow. Those two, plus Boley should be getting some fines this week.
....maybe they should spit at the ref .....that's much better, that's class.:spank: |

I'm not upset.. How could I be? We are 2-0, and Eli is talking about another mans package, and the Giants are falling down faking injuries because the Rams are marching down the field on them. How could that make me upset? I think it's wonderful!!!! |

dont be a fool, this isn't an embellishment, it's a straight up lie. Personally I don't even care, I found it both funny and lame (i.e. not smart, or a good idea) and p.s. your Giants didn't invent the move, it's been done before and it's always been embarrassing. |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
Didn't see it happen but, if it did, they should be penalized. The players fined and the team either fined or forfiet a draft pick. B. Ryan's teams were famous for it and it is why they instituted the rule that a stoppage for injury in the last two minutes costs you a time out.
The rules allow stoppages for "injured players" not fake injured players: "TIMING: ... 4. The Referee will allow necessary time to attend to an injured player, or repair a legal player's equipment." NFL Rules Inside the last two minutes, you get one extra "mulligan" for an injured player but after that, you are penalized 5 yards for clock stoppages caused by injuries. "TIMING IN THE LAST TWO MINUTES: ... 2. A team cannot buy an excess time out for a penalty. However, a fourth time out is allowed without penalty for an injured player, who must be removed immediately. A fifth time out or more is allowed for an injury and a five-yard penalty is assessed if the clock was running. Additionally, if the clock was running and the score is tied or the team in possession is losing, the ball cannot be put in play for at least 10 seconds on the fourth or more time out. The half or game can end while those 10 seconds are run off on the clock." NFL Rules Faking an injury to stop the is not the same as the quarterback running the clock down or the ref dropping the ball. In the first case, the play is permitted and explicitly allowed by the rules: "TIMING: ... 6. Time between plays will be 40 seconds from the end of a given play until the snap of the ball for the next play, or a 25-second interval after certain administrative stoppages and game delays." NFL Rules Teams may use less than the 40 allotted seconds but they are not permitted to use more and are penalized for doing so. As to the ref dropping the ball, it's an unintentional act by an non-participant in the game and is not an attempt to gain an unfair competitive advantage by one side or the other. At a minimun, faking an injury to stop the clock or give your team a breather - being a deceitful act to gain an unfair competitive advantage in the game - should be an unsportsmanlike conduct foul with a resultant 15 yard penalty if caught in game. |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
So what is the difference of maybe not getting off another player when the play is over to run off time, maybe the ball rolls away from the ref....anything to take time away from the other team, clock management.:goodjob:
Well to be honest the player who sits on the opponent trying to kill time or rolls the ball away from the ref can get hit with a delay of game and penalized yards. Maybe that's how the refs should look at players faking injuries (ie; good plays by Giants fans). |

I like that. If the ref judges that you are faking, a five yard penalty is applied. That would help to cut down on faking. |

Still haven't answerd about the punter but hey that's ok,you can't.
I did answer the punter thing. There is a big difference between embellishment and a straight up lie. TWO of your players hit the ground and once one one saw the other was down as well he popped up? Do you seriously believe there was a real injury at that point?? Btw I said don't be a fool, it's not name calling unless you choose to be one. |

If the league fines players for faking being tired , the patriots might not have to pay big Albert this season :) . I don't see the ref's flagging this during games , however the league should fine teams ( maybe take draft picks ) , if it is done on several occasions during the season . |

I believe they both were responsible. They both fell for the play fake. Carlos was absolutely frozen, and of course, Michael Irvin's reality show boy finally produces for the Pukes. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBC-KMKxtQY]Jesse Holley 77 yd catch & celebration - YouTube[/ame] |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
The video looks like Carlos had run contain, and the Safety was supposed to be overtop, and the Safety jumped hard on the run. Hard to say what Carlos' responsibility was from that video.

Nope, as much as people want Rogers to fail it wasn't his fault. He actually had a pretty good game and did some hitting, just ask Witten and Romo. |

Assuming the play was symmetrical, the corner on the bottom of the screen was covering the other Dallas WR. Never mind, 'Los ADMITS IT.
In other news, looks like Carlos Rogers is being....well....Carlos Rogers. Except now, the new and improved Carlos bounces INTs off his head as well as his hands
Has anyone else noticed that dropped Int's are the worse possible thing that can happen on defense. I have no idea what it is about them but it seems to me every time a defense drops an Interception the best they can hope for afterwards is only giving up a third or fourth down conversion. I've observed this phenomenon all the way down to the high school level. |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
Disappointment seeks in after dropping a PICK.. that has a lot to do w it
|
Re: Around The NFL week 2
Not that you guys might care or have not heard but NFL Network basically said they contacted the league and unless it can be proven a player is faking injury nothing can be done.
So..... I thought it would be interesting if every team the Giants play from here on out has someone faint or fall out with muscle cramps on every play. Especially if they are moving the ball well. |
