I'd love to give him a try again. He looked like he had much promise during that preseason. Far more than Rex or Beck.

All we can hope for is 3 - 13 and a good drat and free agent period.

He's arguably my favorite Redskin of the past five years.

Maybe the Saints will spend so much on keeping Brees that they'll have to let Chase go.

I wouldn't be against this at all, but let's not forget that we were optimistic of John Beck and Rex Grossman this year. Should we really go that route again?

While John Beck and Rex Grossman are on the last of their 9 lives here and would have been dead if we weren't interested in them, Chase Daniel has spent the past few years solidifying his status as Drew Brees' backup in New Orleans. He did not fail here. We just cut him because the personnel guys wanted to keep Colt Brennan just like they kept Betts and Carwright: competition does not exist in Vinny-land.

We looked at Brecks because they had potential upside, not because they were sure to produce concrete results. Chase Daniel has far more upside than either.

Haha, I'd love to agree with you.. But I would say more than half of us around here were drinking the Rex and Beck-aid. Shanahan was very insistent that these guys were more than capable.

Ok, so if we have a chance to draft a Matt Barkley or Landry Jones, who both have undeniable upside compared to Daniels, would you do it? Or would you prefer a Blackmon/Jeffrey + Daniels combo..

I would definitely have to think long and hard.

Exactly, go with the unknown, not the known.

My problem with Landry Jones is that a buddy of mine who graduate from OU and watches their games religiously, says that he doesn't like him and that he's really not that good, that his receivers make him look a lot better than he really is. He said that when the games on the line he throws picks. He also said that he tends to overthrow--or underthrow receivers a lot. I've watched about 6 Oklahoma games in the past 2 years, and from the few I've seen....he's right.

Now does he have NFL traits and qualities, Definitely. No question about it. But based on what I've seen from him, I'd rather get an experienced Nick Foles, throw in all my chips for Andrew Luck, or take Robert Griffin lower than from where we pick, than get Landry. (I'd also take Kellen Moore in all those scenarios except the Luck one.)

I don't follow college ball. Hence, I have no information to make any decision on a prospect.
I'd take the better QB, every time. You can find WR elsewhere, if your scouts are good and you know what to look for. But, the QBs must grade out well, or else I ain't taking one.

I used to be a big sooners fan when Bradford was there, watching them was a priority for me each week.. But yeah I have no interest anymore. Bradford is on a completely different level compared to Jones, but NFL teams know that. I agree though, Jones has a weird throwing motion, weird footwork, his arm strength is questionable, his athleticism isn't very good and he's just sort of awkward in general.

I see it as:
Luck

Barkley
RG3
Tannehill
Weeden

Jones

You're comparing John Beck to Chase Daniel and I'm letting you stay on this board...I must be getting soft :)

Seriously though, I think in his brief playing time here and in New Orleans Daniel has shown far more than Beck ever did (of course, I might be bias) and he's considerably younger.

My thing is we need two new QBs. So instead of drafting 2 with no NFL experience. Draft one and get another veteran (young veteran with upside). Take SS33's suggestion as an example. Draft Kalil in the first, add Tannehill in the late 1st, or more likely early 2nd and sign Daniel.

ehhhh Daniels was solid from what I remember, but I haven't followed him since.

I like that scenario though, but Tannehill is quickly becoming a top guy for the draft, he's going to make some team very happy.

Like your friend I watch every snap of Landry Jones and I think he's right to a degree but a little tough on him as well, Is Jones on the same level as Bradford? NO but I think one more season at OU which will likely happen could help him over the long haul.

I think the Luck hype is affecting the other QBs more than Luck. Luck is the best prospect in years, but there are one or two other first overall type prospects in this draft that are being victimized because they lack the hype of Andrew Luck.

Luck is the best, but he's not so much better than Matt Barkley that you wouldn't take MB with the second overall pick. Barkley is a steal at no. 2. Barkley is Matt Ryan with downfield accuracy.

WC- John Skelton

RGIII:
BC- Mike Vick(more accurate)
AC- Andy Dalton

My reasoning is because Landry can't throw the deep ball as far or as well as Foles, IMO (based on what I've seen the few times I've seen the 2 QB's play)

Re: Build the Redskins for 2012

My ideal 1st and 2nd round draft choices to get some fire power on offense:

Round 1: Robert Griffin III Baylor
Round 2: Jeff Fuller Texas A&M or Juron Criner Arizona

I am impressed with both those receivers and think they are worth 2nd round picks. The are both 6'4 220 pounds and can go get the ball. The more I see and read about RGIII the more impressed I am. He has a really strong arm and can move.

RGIII
Helu
F. Davis
C. Cooley
Hankerson
Fuller/Criner
Moss

With these guys at the skilled positions next year we would have a chance to really start to grow as an offense. HTTR!!! 2012 is finally going to be the year we see drastic improvements.

After those picks the areas of need I think are the highest are O-Line, CB, ILB

Re: Build the Redskins for 2012

OL, OL, OL.

we don't need WRs, what we've got is fine. We DO need to keep our QB from getting killed and that includes injury insurance. we could use a starting OG, RT and a swing starter. the ONLY thing we should opt out of OL for is a QB.

any time you see average RBs or WRs or QBs doing well, it's probably because they can keep their uniforms clean.

moss/gaffney/hankerson/armstrong/davis/cooley will be fine, even if we lose a TE to free agency. very few WRs are randy moss like in production, especially year 1.

I disagree. WR is a need, but CB and MLB are greater needs for this team. Plus Fuller has been disappointing (hasn't had a 100 yard receiving game this year) Criner is good because of Foles, but is often injured and is eerly similar to hankerson.

Dont'a Hightower or Janoris Jenkins or Jayron Hosely would be better picks in the 2nd than him...keep in mind we're on pace to have a high second round pick...

I wouldn't have a problem with Hightower and Hosely, those are solid selections. I do not want Jenkins. I want a team full of Kerrigans and bring the lunch pale type guys.

But our offense is just so bad, I feel like our 1st two rounds are needed to get some talent that can make some plays. Fuller has 32 career TD's and Criner has 29, it would be nice to have some guys that have potential to score. You can't penalize a receiver for having a good quarterback, most good receivers have good qb's. I also wouldnt mind getting McNutt from Iowa either, he is a big receiver too and has made a lot of plays when I have seen him play this season (wow just looked at his stats 65 Catches - 1089 yards).

We have so many needs though I'm not against quality players at any position besides TE that will help our team. I'm also looking forward to getting Jarvis Jenkins back, he seems like he will be a solid player, hope the recovery is going as scheduled.

If we were able to get RG III I would consider the whole draft a success regardless of what way they choose to go w/ the rest of the picks.
