Would they go Tannehill 1st round though?
There has been some talk that after a good showing at the combine, he could very easily inch into the first round. |

that makes sense, every year at this time prospects all have a sort of preliminary ranking, then the combine & other info. changes things. QBs will go higher simply cause a team knows they can't get them w/their next pick. Ponder, e.g., was looked at as a late 1st/early 2nd pick at best heading towards the draft, then went #12 to Minnesota. |

Many thought it was indeed a stretch at 12 though...and in retrospect it likely was. |
Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
I'm going to have to watch some You Tubes on Tannehill. He hasn't been mentioned a lot. It's been Andrew Luck and RG III.

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
I meant top 7. Trade down I could easily see it.

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
Is there a place in this thread, or anywhere on the site, where we list the QB prospects who have decided to come out, who have decided to return to school, and who is undecided?

I think it may be too early for that. So many undecideds |

I think Lindley is another Grossman really. A bit stiff and unpredictable. Cousins is GTripp's all-time favorite QB...this year, so ask him about Cousins. |

The reason you never hear about this guy is because he isn't that good. I would pissed off if we drafted him in any round. I would much rather go with Kellen Moore. He might be undersized but he PLAY! Ryan Tannehill hasn't impressed me at all. I've seen him of Texas A&M game so trust me when I see we much better off with Landry Jones, Nick Foles, or Kellen Moore. |

Tannehill has outstanding mobility, a good live arm, pretty good accuracy, and leadership skills. You may read that he played wide receiver but he was a QB before that and has started at QB for the last two years. He's a definite first round prospect. |

Your description of him is not accurate. That's why I asked. |
Your description of him is not accurate. That's why I asked.
Fine. I, and all draft sites that I have seen, describe him as a top prospect. You describe him as undraftable (you said you would not want him in any round). We'll see who is more "accurate" down the road. In the meantime, CBS has him as their #4 QB, ranked in the first round: 2012_QB NFL Draft Prospects - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com And here are his numbers for this year: 61.1 % 3415 yards 28 TD 14 INT 296 rushing yards (5.4 ypc) |
Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
I'd like to see them draft Tannehill, if only because we'd get to see his fiance in Redskin outfits...
|
Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
I really don't see the Skins giving up what it may cost to guarantee a shot at the top 3 (assuming all declare). The projected top pick for Luck is being speculated at a potential 4 first round picks or 3 firsts and 2nd's......crazy.
AND I personally don't think the SKins have any intention of heavily mortgaging future drafts (and I fully support that concept) in order to score a QB. He may not be the perfect guy....or maybe he will, BUT if he is not work out we WILL have future options to take another swing at the plate if our draftee does not work out. .....other holes to fill as well. Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
I saw Tannehill play here this season and he had a decent game 2 Tds 3 Ints.. I didn't come away thinking he's a big time QB In fact I think Landry Jones is a better overall talent.

I'm so conflicted about that scenario. As much as I want Luck, I'm not sure it'd be worth the price... Plus, I feel like we'd be cursed or something. Luck would be a bust and every player drafted with our picks would not doubt become pro bowl HOFers... |

I'm 100% convinced Luck is the real deal, he's got the talent and hunger to succeed. He's in it for the love of the game, is a physical specimen, smart, good character, I can't find anything wrong with him. |

I would and wouldn't look back or listen to what the critics will say, I would go with my gut feeling. The other guy I would trade for is Barkley, who i consider the second best and slightly below Luck due to his physical size, other than that he's also very talented with good character. |
Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
No I do not like that move. 3 1sts, this team needs as many firsts as we can get to get the level of talent in DC it will take to win a championship.

I'd do what i could to get Luck

Sure, some team will get raped because of their desperation to land Luck but that scenario is the absolute worst case. |
Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
What really irritates me about this thread is the presumption that Mike will know what to do w/ a rookie QB. Don't talk to me about Cutler because he's not proven jack shit. Elway fell into Mike's lap, along with one of the best defenses in history and elite RB, TE and WR.
And don't overplay Mike's involvement w/ Montana, Young or anyone else. I haven't heard any of those guys give credence to Mike Shanahan as they do other coaches. The notion Mike can get "his special guy" after the top QB talent is gone and build a championship level team is about as likely as a Ron Paul presidency. It smacks of more egomania, much like the past string of misjudgements that led us to a Rex and Beck dynamic duo more than two years into the new regime. |

After exhaustive research into the Moderators Outrageous rumors thread, it has an accuracy factor of 99.083......celsius......more or less. Point is don't look for the SKins to break the bank for future generations for....anybody. |

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
The question is, what will the fans think if a QB isn't selected in the first round or two or three next year? We sure as hell were freaking out when it happened this year.

I was one of the few who didn't freak out about the 'skins not drafting a QB this year. I'm glad we addressed other areas of need and had the patience to wait until the next draft when we would have a better selection of QBs to choose from. But, I think this season is much different. We HAVE to draft a QB. IF we don't, then I will start questioning the sanity of our front office. However, the FO has done a great job with player acquisitions, so I can't see them NOT drafting a QB unless a Bona fide, young, franchise QB is found in free agency. |

But Young has given credit to Shanahan multiple times. And let's not act like Elway didn't have some of his worst years without Shanahan. Plus, who's to say it wasn't Shanahan and the coaches that helped make a guy like Terrell Davis a great running back? |

that is the biggest problem in this franchise it has been run far too long by what the fan-base wants in hopes of generating ticket sales. Meaning they always made the flashy move vs. the best move for the club. No need to sell the farm on a Luck or RG3 if it is just going to handcuff use in other areas. Look at this way say you have a family four; all drivers. You have $50k to spend on cars for them. Would it make sense to buy a $50k SUV? While 3 other drivers won't have a car or would it be better to buy 4 $12.5k cars so everyone has one? |
Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
At this point, I have given up on Luck. I want barkley, as he seems to break some trends of the "USC Quarterbacks" and would step in and succeed right away. Id give up a little to trade up for him if need be, but if we pick around 6 or 7 we should be safe.

Who fits that description and at what cost? When I think of the pressure for this organization to field a winning team, it makes me think that they need a more solid prospect than Beck having only Grossman as the fall-back option if the price for getting Luck, RG3, or Barkley is too steep. |
