Yep I refuse to root for losses but I think this win just guaranteed us another year of Rex at the helm.
Um. No. Not as a starter at least. As a 2nd string? I'd be fine with that. But you know damn well if Shanahan kept Rex as a starter next season I think the fans would go down to the Redskins facility and threaten to burn the place down. I really don't think Mike is that stubborn that he'd go against obvious, non-debatable, common sense. In this situation at least. |
Re: Redskins vs giants gameday thread
I would have rather lose for the pick. Say what you want, but at this point a higher pick is more important than a garbage time win. That said, if we had to win one I'm glad it was against a team that talked shit earlier.
I'd also like to add a big f you to any and all Giants DB's who have talked smack about the Redskins this season. This means you, Antrel Rolle, and you, Kenny Phillips. Since it's the holidays and I want to be nice, I will just say I'm glad your punk shit talking mouths have been shut up.
Antrel Rolle is horrible, really bad signing by the Giants. Kenny Phillips has been a bust. Their secondary is really bad |

It does not appear that any of the coaches in the NFL agree with you... Garbage time win? Hardly...the Giants are still trying to lock up the East are they not? Is this not a must win for them? Losing for success? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH....sure |
Really? REALLY?
Being totally serious, really? One win guarantees a qb who turns the ball over on average 2 times a game the starting job next season? Seriously, really?
It was discussed for a whole segment on ESpn radio postgame, points were made that skins may have to settle for a middle of the road qb in the draft. This draft and offseason is going to be huge for Allen and the Shanaplan. But I am also nuttier than squirrel turds. |
How would anyone think Rex will start next year? He was benched for beck

Seriously, really?
Count me in as another person who beleives Rex will start next season. I know its been discussed at length, but i believe Rex has to AT LEAST start the first few games next year while our QB of the future sits and watches. As long as Rex is winning / playing good, there won't be a QB change. I know he is a turnover machine but the bottom line is this team just looks and acts different with Rex at QB. With McNabb, we flat out sucked. John Beck was simply helpless, the team could not do anything. At least with Rex we are competitive and "hanging in there" in big games. I think Rex will be signed to a 2 or 3 year deal for moderate money because the expecations will be that he will start Next year until the new QB is ready to take over. After that, he will be a a backup... |

I think if the FO is happy with mediocrity and thinks the rookie needs to sit and study, then yeah Rex starts next year. We won't suck, but we won't be good either and don't expect playoffs, expect another "rebuilding year". If the FO is willing to take the risk on the rookie, if all the other pieces of the puzzle are in place, then sometimes the best way to learn, is learning on the fly. The sink or swim method isn't always the worst way to go about things. |

Re: Redskins vs giants gameday thread
I think that this win proves that we have the right coaching staff and place and we are heading in the right direction. I would grade our draft in 2011 an A++ and hopefully we continue in 2012's draft.

The skins don't have to settle for anything. Look at all the past sb winners at qb recently:
Rodgers, 24th pick 1st rd. Brees, 32nd pick 2nd rd. Roethlisberger, 11th pick 1st rd. Manning: 1st pick 1st rd, draft trade for 4th pick Manning: 1st pick 1st rd. Roethlisberger Brady, 199th pick, 6th rd. #jussayin. We will do whatever is necessary to get our guy IMO. Grossman will be back next season but as a backup, and I would hope that the shannies taylor the scheme to fit the qb and make the best use of his strengths next year. |

Re: Redskins vs giants gameday thread
I say signing Bowen was a great move by the front office:
Best Stat, Part II: Stephen Bowen’s third-quarter sack of Eli Manning gave the defensive lineman six on the year. He had 5.5 sacks in his 63 NFL games before arriving in Washington. |

Agreed. For once it feels like we made a good free agent signing. Sooooo glad we didn't sign Cullen Jenkins. |
Re: Redskins vs giants gameday thread
“The way we played in all three phases, offense and special teams and defense all clicking together, if we play like this we can beat anybody,” the ex-Giant said. “Like I said, if we play this hard, and click like this, mistake-free football, we can beat anybody....This defense, we’re not there yet, but we’re very close to being a great defense. I feel that from the bottom of my heart. And with a great offseason, we’re gonna be a top 10, top 5 defense next year.”

That wasn't Weatherford. |

I thought Bowen was overpaid here. I was wrong. |
Re: Redskins vs giants gameday thread
all i'm saying is when did KS decide to start calling games in a not retarded fashion?
helu had like 20 rushes for 55 yards, but we actually kept running it. it's like he finally figured out his game plans were awful and fixed it... |
