OoOoohHh.... Dallas has 12 million in cap space. Big freaking deal. We have 49.5 million in cap space. I hate the media. They are such Dallas homers. |

Nothing to do with the salary cap. It's cost versus value. He's either going to restructure his contract or get cut. With his injuries the past couple years, definitely won't be on the squad carrying that figure. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I figure he will restructure considering his recent injury issues.
|
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I'll say this though; I'm going to be real pissed if Mario Williams goes to Dallas or New England (or pittsburgh for that case) because I hate those 3 teams the most in the league.

That is great news! I think he'll help maintain the high character mentality in the locker room. They are really, really putting an emphasis on that this year (along with last) and I like it. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Nice.
Redskins have hired Phillip Daniels as Director of Player Development
What will his responsibilities be? Will this essentially be a role in which he is kind of a mentor in young players' lives? IE how to invest your money, how to be a professional, etc.? If that's the case, I think this is a good move for us. PD always brought a leadership role to the Skins while he was here, and now he can continue to do so for us while not taking up roster space. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Exactly mooby

Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I wish the Skins would hire me as Redskins Players Social Chair and a nice budget to work with. I would do it, but I kinda want the character from Park & Rec Aziz Asari plays to assist me with it. be like a liaison between the players and Phillip Daniels.

Finally somebody laid the smackdown on Chris Carter.

Sports
At the biggest moments, Carter was the smallest. There are no great performances like Jerry Rice in the Super Bowl. No memorable moments like Lynn Swann’s Super Bowl catches. Carter didn’t change the game in any significant way. On top of that, he’s one of the most arrogant human beings you will encounter. He talks down to everyone, including his cohorts at ESPN. It’s not just reporters who he literally looks down his nose at, it’s fellow players. There’s a great story out there about Carter pulling his “I played the game” maneuver on an agent one time while a former teammate of Carter’s stood by. After Carter walked away, the former teammate walked up to the agent and said, “I know how you feel, half the guys in the locker room wanted to kick his ass.”
:food-smil |

Adam Schefter Former Oakland CB Stanford Routt reached agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs
I'm going to say that it doesn't do much for Carr's status except give the Chiefs a tiny bit of leverage. $6.5 mil/year for a nickle back (which is what Routt will get) is not unreasonable, especially when you have as much cap room as the Chiefs. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
that's a good signing for them

This. It also gives the Chiefs negotiating room with Carr, because they don't look so desperate now that they have a plan B if Carr leaves. I'm all for Carr leaving because I wouldn't mind us signing him, but signing Routt is a good thing for the Chiefs. |
