Guess you forgot about last year already. Outside of Gaffney who is mostly a possession guy, we had nobody that could stretch the field or make plays after the catch. |
Did some quick calculations on the recent signings. Here are the cap hits I've come up with so far given the info out there (000s):
Carriker 2012: $2,750 2013: $4,750 2014: $5,750 2015: $6,750 TOTAL: $20,000 Garcon 2012: $7,300 2013: $7,300 2014: $8,300 2015: $9,300 2016: $10,300 TOTAL: $42,500 Morgan 2012: $2,200 2013: $2,300 2014: $2,500 2015: $2,500 2016: $2,500 TOTAL: $12,000
But, but, but, free agency was taken from us! This can't be! |
re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
If Moss gets cut after June 1 doesn't that save the Skins over $3 million? I thought his deadcap number significantly drops after June 1.
I think DHall saves us over $6 million when cut after June 1. I would let those two guys go and use their projected savings towards Fletcher. I also heard something about the Skins being interested in John Carlson? If true, that might not bode well for Cooley. Although perhaps Cooley could be moved to backup FB in the spot just vacated by the Mike Sellers release... |

Lol... I love how this $36M cap charge has been the talk of the town, yet the Skins come out firing on all cylinders. |

I wonder what's going on with talks with London Fletcher.

There's only one thing left to do: troll the league by storm by having a season in which we make it to least the divisional round, and preferably the championship round. |

It'd be nice to get an idea of what the hell is going on. The NFL has only alluded to it. Still it'll be fun to see the commish announce the Skins and Cowboy picks come April 26. Redskin and Cowboy fans booing together. Should be quite a sight. |

re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
Aren't you always skeptical? At least you're consistent. Maybe shanny thinks these guys skill sets mesh well with our offensive scheme and RG3. Eddie Royal has a connection with Shanny in Denver. Morgan and Garcon both young and fast. Be happy we aren't settling for the status quo. Or don't, your choice... ;)
I'd be 100% on board if this way worked, but it never does. I don't see any of the winning organizations doing this every year. I understand Royal has the connection but he really is just another ho hum wr. I'd just rather see if Paul & Hank can progress since we drafed them and they have a year under the offense. It's the constant falling in love w/ other teams players. As for Garcon... Doesn't Luck need wr's just as much as RG3? So why'd Indy just let him walk? Yeah...that makes me skeptical. |
re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
hall could make a good ball hawking free safety i believe. he has great ball skills and hands, his man to man coverage is what stinks. lavar and dukes tossed the idea around. we definitely need help at safety, and we could bring in corner help in FA

re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
When free agency begins, big-name players will fly off the market, but you should also expect some lesser-known guys to go quickly -- and become very wealthy in their own right. For example, wide receiver Josh Morgan is a hot name right now. He is hot because he will cost less than some of the more recognizable wideouts, like Vincent Jackson and Marques Colston, yet might play as well. Morgan has the potential to become a star if he goes to the right team and can stay healthy. He only started five games last year for the San Francisco 49ers before a broken leg put him on injured reserve for the rest of the season. Yet his talent is undeniable and teams will pay well for his services. He will be off the market before Sunday.
a point someone made earlier is still sticking with me.
Marques Colston signed a smaller deal to stay in New Orleans, and was considered the best or second best WR on the market. Pierre was the third best and got a bigger offer. Thats either bad negotiating by us or Marques knows he's not that good without brees. somethings off here.. |

Garcon preferred market competition and uprooting his family c) although Garcon got more, the two deals are pretty similar |
re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
I'm also someone puzzled with the signing of these 3 receivers. None are that special and just more of what they usually get at WR... small receivers who can't break away from the defensive backs covering them. At least all 3 of these guys are young. But where is the 6-3, 220 WR that can be the go-to person when you need a first down... maybe Hankerson if he stops dropping passes.
I sure hope to hear of some great OL and DL FA picks here pretty soon... fingers crossed. |

Yes I believe we are, although it's directed more towards owners than it is Goodell. And I personally support this strategy. |

re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
Ya seems like overkill. Doesn't bode well for my boy Santana.
My guess is they cut Gaffney soon, Moss after June 1st, or both.
Man, I hope not. Seems like they got quantity more then quality. There are only a finite number of targets. But, we have far more WRs then possible targets or catch opportunities. The funny thing (or not so funny if they cut Gaffney and/or Moss) is that using advanced metrics from Football Outsiders Gaffney was ranked higher in DYAR/DVOA then Garcon whose DYAR/DVOA were equal to Tana playing through a broken hand. |
re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
Who are we looking at for the DEFENSE?
Right now I see our draft looking like Defense, a RB, an OL player, and of course Mr. RGIII. Now I am excited about the RGIII deal! |

re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan
Anyone notice that we gave Garcon more than Colston got? Or that Josh Morgan is getting 6 mil a year? Any news on how much Royal is getting? Shit I wish we got Winston instead of Morgan...

Has the draft pick trade with the Rams been approved yet.
