Oh Jeff Bridges, right, makes sense now. Hopefully he was not to many White Russians in when he was checking out Hightower.

I think we can upgrade at DT. Golston and Carriker are smallish and Carriker did not make many plays last year or the year before. Golston made no plays.

Carriker had quite a few sacks last year. Actually pretty comparable to other 3-4 DE IMO. I think he is fine and we should have a nice rotation with Jenkins back in the mix.

Adam Carriker made 34 tackles last season to go with 5.5 sacks. Golston contributed well in a reserve role. He had 16 take downs and 1.5 sacks last season. Both of these players played well, especially Carriker.

SirClintonPortis 05-02-2012 03:07 AM

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

Carriker is very difficult to move and strong as an ox; he is a fit for the 3-4. Golston on the other hand, should be replaced eventually because he is not built to handle the role of 3-4 DE(not enough strength).

The Redskins just re-signed Cedric Golston last month. They truly didn't address the defensive line at all in free agency or during the NFL draft. Unless Golston gets traded, he'll remain a Redskin.

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

I'd really hate to see Jones on the team. To be honest, I think the guys we have are already too good and even if they brought him in for camp, our guys would beat him out. I haven't heard anything, but I'll check up on that tomorrow.

REDSKINS4ever 05-03-2012 05:32 AM

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

Jacoby Jones isn't bad. In fact, I like him as a return specialist but he might have a hard time beating out little Brandon Banks in a competition battle if he is brought in. Banks usually goes all out in the preseason in order to make the team.

DC Tailgate 05-03-2012 02:32 PM

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

Banks doesn't have a shot at making the team this year. He was on the bubble last year, and if it weren't for the TD against Tampa, I'm not so sure he would have made the roster. When you have guys like Niles Paul who are faster, let alone half the team who are just as fast as him, I can't see why they'd cut one of them (who can play WR), for someone who can only do one thing.

Word. My assumption Banks gets cut for sure but then why wait?

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

Mike loves his competition, so who knows. Maybe if he likes Banks a lot, he'll cut him sooner than later so he has a shot at going to another team.

Woah there!..Niles Paul has nowhere near the speed Brandon Banks has. But other than that I agree with everything your saying.

SBXVII 05-03-2012 03:25 PM

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

Every year we hear Banks is gone. He's a one trick poney. Hasn't happened yet. MS likes Banks as the return guy. Knows he could break something open at anytime. However I think we all get frustrated during the season cause he hardly does. But he does give us decent field position usually. So the question is .... is there something we don't know? Does MS see the blocking breaking down elsewhere, or players hurt who would have opened up a hole, and keeping Banks is not the issue?

Could there be a future speed package? All the fast guys on the field to include Banks at WR or RB?

Niles Paul combine time - 4:45
Brandon Banks combine time - 4:43

Check his combine 40 yard dash on NFL.com. He clocked in at 4.51 seconds

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

so niles paul had a good 40 time whatever, when you see him and banks run on the field its not even a question, banks is much faster. when you play football its not a 40 yard dash, and if he was faster you have to think he would have atleast got a chance to return kicks or punts.

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

It's not Paul Banks needs to worry about. It's Aldrick Robinson.

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)

I bet there are several guys on the roster faster than Banks (with pads on).

- Torrence
- Hall
- Griffin III
- Helu
- Moss
- Robinson
- Austin
- Garcon
