Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
I still cant believe the Saints played so poorly on D vs the bootlegs. I didnt understand what they were trying to do. It wasnt cause the run was just gashing them by any means.

I voted for other for game ball,I thought the off line did a lot better job then expected.Pass protection held up pretty well, run blocking could have been better but Morris almost got 100 yards Morris was not spectacular but very steady and efficent. That 1 td run was pretty awesome,he just got nailed at the 1 but kept chugging and got it in,a la Riggins
I think you have a advantage coming off the bench; first the team didn't game plan for you and second you have no pressure so your a bit of a gunslinger. With that said; RGIII was the starter and he came in with all the pressure in the world and exceed all expectations. That my friend is the difference between getting excited about Ramsey vs. RGIII. Bob is going to have his bad days for sure but he is going to be something special barring injury. |

Seriously. I hope someone got an ultra high-res pic of him sitting on the ground watching Garcon go in for the TD. I would buy and frame that in a second. |

Gtripp or 30gut, where can you find grades for Oline? Did yall do any O-line reviews? I think they played well, especially the left side.

Meriweather already lost his job to Gomes, he can regain a new job in Williams spot, unless of course they swap those positions when BM returns. |

This has probably been mentioned before so I apologize.
Does my memory server me correct? Rak is taking some heat today for his dropped INT but even if he caught it wasn't there a DEF foul on that play that would have negated his INT? |
Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
kerrigan also dropped one

All in all I think he had a good game. He blocked Brees passes 2 or 3 times in a row. |
kerrigan also dropped one
Kerrigan's was more "broken up" than dropped. Rak's was just dropped. Although it would be better if they make the catch, I'm not going to give either LB too much heat for drops. They are LB's, after all. A linebacker with good hands is called a "tight end." And both times they stopped the pass. |
Please tell me the game is going to be on NFL Replay...I misses the game and DVR'd the Pregame and not the game. I MUST see this game! Damnit!

Twas a fun game. A little fibrillation near the end, but it smooths itself out.

Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
man I know some fans only pay attention to the glamor positions but come on, Morris had a solid game but was not the 2nd most impactful player yesterday he wasn't even the fourth IMO
|
Gotta add Bowen to that list. He was very disruptive the entire game. Brees either had heat or had to adjust a few throws.
Yup, the d-line was key yesterday and Bowen was a beast. A truly underrated FA signing last season. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
Excellent play calling yesterday by the younger Shanahan. Great quarterback play from Robert Griffin III. Nice hard running by Alfred Morris. Tremendous route running and executing in the passing game by Pierre Garcon, Fred Davis, and Santana Moss. Although the Redskins defense allowed Drew Brees to pass for over 300 yards, the defense did a tremendous job defending against those explosive Saints weapons. For now the Redskins are ranked #1 in the NFL in total offense and 16th in defense. I'm very proud of the coaches and the players. This team could be very special this year.

Gotta take into consideration he was playing in his first game and a 6 rounder from a small school though. |

Ok after someone said Kerrigan had a near one then it kind of came back to me. Anybody get the Washington Post on 9/5? There is a awesome full page pic of Bob. It is a drawing. I can't seem to find it on line. |

Well if we wanna be debbie downers, everybody remember Campbell's start under Zorn, wasn't it 8 games without an int, we were cruising to the playoffs at 6-2... Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
So much to say about our big win I could write for an hour!!
Our offense is the best "surprise" I've had in years. RGIII's poise, decision-making, arm streng, accuracy, speed/quickness and fakes are extraordinary. My only concern is that he saw contact on a few of those 10 runs. I hope to see him slide and get out of bounds instead. Kyle's play-calling and scheme were nearly perfect and easily his best so far. These guys have chemistry. My favs on Morris the horse and Robinson, though I think as the season progresses Davis will get more work than he did yesterday. Garcon too if he can stay healthy. Defensively we are a force to be reckoned with. The front 7 is very stout run or pass. I think the secondary is performing at a high level based on great coaching/motivation. These guys play smart and aggressive and will earn a lot of respect from QBs/OCs over the season. |

There is a big difference between yesterday's win and every single "good" start this team has had in the past 6-8 years, the offense. We drove the ball down the field and scored TDs. We played against a playoff team that was super fired up and had a huge "us against the world" attitude. We played against a future hall of famer QB. We played a difficult game within the confines of a tough/hostile environment. The next big test for this team will be to play an inferior team and see whether we have overcome our bad habit of playing down to our competition. And then the bigger test will be to see how the team handles the competitiveness of the NFC East. In this game, I didn't see some of the same ol' deficiencies this team has and we outright beat a solid playoff caliber team. It is possible that we still will end up with a losing season. But this team has taken a huge step forward and it may have the talent to have a winning record. |
Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
The playing down part is really scary to me. It's too common. I'm hoping for a change of pace.

Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
I think one of the bigger concerns that I haven't heard people mention is the 3rd down efficiency. We went 4-15 on 3rd down conversion and a lot of those 3rd downs were 3rd and 5 or shorter. I hope we can improve upon that in the upcoming games.

Let me point out some other differences: Poor accuracy beyond dink and dunk passes, especially on anything long Slow release long wind up Happy feet, and tendency to throw off of his back heel No feel for the rush No clock in his head Not a mobile QB despite being scouted as one Complete inability to slide Sometimes "scrambled" when there was no pressure and ran into needless sacks Couldn't throw the ball away when he was running out of bounds One handed grasp on the ball when moving in the pocket Ball at his hip (gunslinger style) while looking down field. I would say there are some slight differences... |

The o-line protected, WRs caught passes, the defense put pressure on the opposing team's passing game, and we won the turnover batter. |

Griffin truly made plays HIMSELF that were huge differences in the game. |

This is the sobering reminder that it's only one game
I remember that - even after the first 4 games, there were many analysts still arguing whether Campbell and the Redskins were the real deal or not. After one game, I don't think there is anyone questioning whether Griffin is for real. There's reason for that - Griffin was consistently making plays, accurate throws, and also not making many mistakes. |

Not only did he make some outstanding plays, he showed a feel for the rush. He showed some pocket awareness. The game wasn't too big for him. However, teams are going to adjust and he will have some rough spots, like every rookie QB does. |
Re: Redskins at Saints Post Game Thoughts
As far as that is concerned, I'm a bit concerned about the more stellar defenses that this Redskins offense will face this season. The Ravens, the Steelers, the Eagles, and Cowboys all have very good defenses. I'm overlooking the NYG already because Rex Grossman had magical performances against them last season. If Grossman could scorch the Giants defense, what do you think RG3 will do to them?
I'm more concerned with the Cowboys and Ravens. |
