Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Ian rapoport says that chip Kelly is close to a deal with the browns. I'm significant more comfortable with him in the afc than with the eagles.

it's like lou holtz said "if you can fit an onion inside of the cornish game hen, then by all means - but if you can only fit a clove of garlic, well, then do that too."

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
No offense dude, but this is a pretty naive way of thinking. Coaches are like politicians, they are not going to tell the truth, they do what some folks call coach speak. If you expect that, you are living in fantasy land. In the real non-football world, some people may have no intentions of leaving a job and interview just to see how they would fare or if they are still marketable.
I understand this, but I hate politician's that do this crap as well. Probably why I'm blasting this guy the way I am. There is a difference between coach speak and what going on here. I realize he can't come out and call a player he's benching a scrub. I get that. There is no need for coach speak with a interview. Why? I think most people can understand a man wanting to explore any opportunities out there whether that advancement benefits you or not. meh.....I've said my piece on the dude. Moving on.... |

Is Kelly to Cleveland official?
|
Bold move by Kelly, Cleveland typically is a horrible start to a coaching career. Honestly I would have stayed at Oregon until Dallas job came open. Just MO anyway
|
Probably means Weeden won't be around much longer. He doesn't fit what type of offense he would like to run.

Weeden was a bad pick IMO anyway. He was good at OSU because he had dez Bryant and Justin blackmon |

He was a bad pick for the slot. They could have waited till the 2nd and picked him up. Holmgren was desperate after losing out on the RGIII sweepstakes. |

Cleveland like KC has a lot of young talent in place, a few more pieces and they are ready to contend. Reid and Kelly aren't dumb. |

The problem is having a franchise QB. Until you get one of those, you can forget it essentially. Reid is taking a gamble because there is no franchise QB in place, and not looking to be one on the horizon with this years crop of QBs coming out. |

Exactly, and who's the next big time qb?? Nobody for a while.. Manziel? No chance he wins big in the NFL. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
I wouldn't be surprised if the Brown make a play for Alex Smith
and the Chiefs for Matt Flynn |

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Belicheat signed Kafka today so Kafka is not going to KC.

I bet he goes after Matt Barkley with his first pick. |

Barkley isn't even the top rated QB anymore. I'd laugh my ass off....lol It would seem that Geno Smith would favor more his style. It's exactly the type of QB he's had his whole tenure in Philly. |

Barkley is the typical USC QB, when he hits the pros he will suck just like the rest have. And geno smith isn't even remotely a great passer. The best QB out of This next class will be some guy nobody thought about.
|
For every Andrew luck or RG3, you get Jake locker, Ponder, Sanchez etc. A lot of talk lately about just starting rookies, it's still the NFL and it takes great player's to win right away. I'm still not sold on Russel Wilson, they played a cupcake schedule and he never had to use his arm to win a game and the one he did they actually really lost the game. We'll see what he's about when we take that run game away from them Sunday
|
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Andy Reids going after Geno. Similar to McNabb whom Reid had great success with.

Sorry to hear for Rivera. Him being fired would probably been a blessing in disguise for him. With that cap issue, not seeing that team getting better in the next year or so. Probably worse. Next point, what's up with all this crappy reporting at the beginning. Had the Panthers firing Rivera, Cardinals hiring Reid. Seems a few journalists jumped the gun on a few of these stories. |

Personally, I thought he was going to San Diego if anywhere I was dead wrong on Rivera. At the midway point of the season I thought he was gone and that a new GM would hire the next coach. When the season ended, I though he should stay..but I also thought he was going to be fired. Good for him. |

You know they aren't keeping all their million dollar running backs. I'm glad he is getting another year to prove himself and what he put together. Panthers were on a roll at the end of the year. |
Doug Marone (Syracuse) to the Bills. Another 2-3 and done tenure in Buffalo.
|
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
^ He should have stuck it out at SU, at least he has a chance to win there.
|

I think Marone will be a good NFL coach, and probably last longer than Chip Kelly will. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
He's going to have an immense hill to climb in buffalo. Lots working against him.
|
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
He's got CJ SPILLLLLLLLEEERRRRRRR!!!!
So now the latest is 5 year deal for Kelly and the Eagles? Crazy I've made no serious attempt to follow the coaching moves this off-season. It's kind of nice to be more worried about actually playing games right now |

Does Ralph Wilson just want to spend as little money as possible? I can't imagine he was on anyone's radar. Marine had a .500 record at the college level. What makes Wilson think hell be better in the pros? |
I'm with SS' who cares about coaches ATM! Finally we aren't worried about that anymore

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Buffalo would have been better off getting Vick and Chip Kelly

He was on a lot of team's radars actually. Don't look at his record so much as how he improved Syracuse from the previous coach |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
i just hope these guys all sign there GMs and coaches before our season is done. keep MB, KS, etc safe.

Apparently chip is out of the browns race now. I bet he stays at Oregon
|

Peter King says its between Eagles and Oregon for Kelly
