I don't disagree with anything you've said. There are always subtleties when discussing such philosophical principals. At the same time, we westerners have that silly principle of innocent until proven guilty. If the uncle is complicit, it will come out. To parse his words looking for a way to impugn him, however, is not proof of anything.
The uncle just gave a live press conference, and called on the suspect to turn himself in and ask forgiveness from the bombing victims and the families of the same. He also said they brought shame to the name of all Chechens. He didn't sound insincere, he sounded indignant and angry.
I get the argument about taqiyya in the comments, thought it was interesting, but listening to him live, I don't think that's what he was doing
I agree, plus he's probably a Redskins fan. |

For the record i am kidding. Uncle seems legit I am sure he will be put under a microscope by the FBI.
If you are these bothers why stay in the country??? They had days to get out. |
I think the poster is reading faaaaar too much into it and misapplying the term taqiyya. The uncle also called his nephew "a loser". To me, the uncle would not have used the derogatory term if he was invoking taqiyya - which is a self protection and limited in application to hiding was beliefs if that person is under immediate, mortal harm (further, Chechens are generally Sunni which doesn't recognize taqiyya as a formal principle since it was developed by the minority Shia muslims in response to majority Sunni oppression).
I would imagine that any follow-up will fully explore potential collaborators with these two. If the uncle is involved, I doubt he will be able to hide it. Until there is some evidence of that, however, I will take his statement at face value and assume he is both angered by and ashamed of the actions taken by his nephews.
I completely agree with you. It amazes me that some folks are trying so hard to stir up trouble which is not there, when there is plenty of real trouble already on our plate. BTW Taqiyya is a concept born among the Shii and is especially embraced by the Druze. It does have very limited application in Sunni realms, but al Tabari and other Sunni theologians have justified it only as a last resort in very limited situations. Many Sunnis look down on the practice as a Shii practice and therefore an inferior (to them) practice. |

No I have never heard of those words before. Maybe if I heard them pronounced I recognize them. Outside of the word jihad I know little about Muslims. I guess I am being ignorant and I am honestly not prejudice towards them I just really don't give a flying F what they do or who they pray for. |

He said his sons reassured him, saying, "Everything is good, Daddy. Everything is very good."
WTF? The Dad "talked about the bombing"?? How did that conversation go?? Someone by this guy a first class ticket to the US and then throw him in jail for conspiracy.
The father warned, however, "If they killed him, then all hell would break loose." "If they kill my second child, I will know that it is an inside job, a hit job. The police are to blame," the father told ABC News. "Someone, some organization is out to get them." Not meaning that he was conspiring with them to cover up the bombing. |

WTF,get to work,theres no explosions
Late last night (like 1-2am) I heard there was more explosions but really I think it was just the firefight with the now dead bomber. I heard they had pretty heavy artillery and grenades though. |

Gernades are bombs. They had a 5 mile chase last night and they tossed them out at the cops from what I heard. |

re: Update: Second Boston Marathon Suspect Captured
So all the people who knew these guys (other than the uncle) are saying what good guys they are. That the younger one was smart, outgoing, no overt sign of radicalization. Somehow this case seems to have gone from NCIS right after the bombing to 24 overnight, to Law and Order SVU where the younger brother just got caught up in the older brother's worldview, all in the span of 4 + days. I think the next few years scripts for Hollywood TV dramas have been written from this week. (Through in flooding in the midwest and the explosion in Waco, and you may get the next decade)

I haven't heard anyone say that about the oldest brother. He was quoted as saying he had not one American friend because he didn't understand them. I do feel somewhat saddened by the youngest one because he seemed most connected to the world around him. But I mean, people can wear a lot of masks I guess, ya know? |
re: Update: Second Boston Marathon Suspect Captured
Amusing now watching the MSM dance around the issue of radical moslems in America. Not comprehending the alien mindset of a jihadi. They are way more patient, focused and dangerous that most people are even slightly aware.

Knowing the writers at SVU they will likely make an episode loosely based on the events of Boston. |

I would be surprised if he's taken alive, it'll be an extraordinary effort by Law Enforcement if they manage to. Suicide by bomb somewhere very public, coming to a town on the East Coast soon. |
