Has a point, Murphy was kept as the cut player if we sign a free agent. Thats probably why we are risking Chase to PS. I still dont like it. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
Chase didn't set the world on fire in the preseason games. My clearest memories of his play are of him getting beaten and flagged for pass interference.
Perhaps the Skins should consider dropping Rex for Young?
Advantages?...Cousins/Rex may be done after this year,...trade/cut. If we had Young...he'd be a good long term backup with the ability to run to match our scheme. Not sure this is an actual good idea..but it is fun to stir the pot.
As long as your not talking about Vince Young then fine. |

I don't see how Murphy could have really made the team over Minnifield. Of the other players on that list, I think Briscoe, Burdette(as much as I like this guy), and Murphy will be cut. Hopefully, we sign Winfield. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
Depth is the theme of our team now. Solid squad.

Chris Russell @Russellmania980 52s Confirmed??? Ha ha just kidding RT @CHICKatCSN: Team source tells me QB Pat White and RB Chris Thompson survive the cut to 53. #RedskinsTalk

Re: Redskins Cuts
If that is true, I have to beleive they cut Rex, or maybe they will shock us all and trade Kirk for a first rounder.

Under Seahawks it says Winfield has been cut.
I see Danny Watkins (Eagles 2011 1st round pick) was cut. Man, a first rounder cut after two years. A OL at that. Had to suck big time. |

I don't think he sucked as much as it was injury issues. If I recall correctly he had issues staying on the field. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
Keeping four QBs to me would be a joke...Even with the starter and the backup on the mend...makes no sense. Unless Kirk's injury is more than they are letting on.

Better be a first rounder next year and a quality starter this year... otherwise, not thanks. |

A good point about PW is that he is a left handed mobile qb. Sounds like someone we are playing on a Monday in September. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
I really dont understand Chase cut and a P-dub roster spot. Really lost there.
All right, where are all the P White hatters at? front and center |

From NFL.COM.
Cuts to 75: OL Jacolby Ashworth, CB Richard Crawford, LB Ricky Elmore, FB Eric Kettani, LB Jeremy Kimbrough, CB Ryan Mouton, K John Potter, WR Chip Reeves, WR Donte' Stallworth, LB Quan Sturdivant, OL Jeremy Trueblood Cuts to 53: DE Chigbo Anunoby, DT Ron Brace, WR Skye Dawson, S DeJon Gomes, DE Dominique Hamilton, RB Jawan Jamison, WR Lance Lewis, C Kevin Matthews, LB Roddrick Muckelroy, OT Xavier Nixon, TE Emmanuel Ogbuehi, OT Tony Pashos, OL Tevita Stevens, RB Keiland Williams, WR Nick Williams I'm shocked WR Lance Lewis didn't make it he seemed to catch almost everything, he ran over defenders, he was fast, and played Special Teams. Hope he makes the Practice Squad. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
Hey SmootSmack, any idea why they caught gomes? Did he never develop into what they wanted to see? I thought with such safety issues that he would be a lock to make the team.

Watched him play his college ball here at ECU. Dude is a baller for real. He was our best playmaker no doubt. Caught most of the passes thrown his way. I hope he makes it to the practice squad as well. |

He's shown he can manage an offense. He can throw the short to intermediate passes (15-20yrds). He can run the ball if need be, and does it safely. Everyone said he's limited cause if the defense covers everything within 20yrds his only option is to run with the ball. I see no difference with Grossman. Grossman can't run so his only options are to throw the ball or take the sack. AND... Grossman is not as accurate as beyond 20yrds as everyone would like to believe. It seems to me beyond 20 he just throws the ball up hoping the WR will get to it. |

There's just something about him, that's just not "there" and to be honest I can't tell you what that is but that's just my opinion. Grossman I trust to an extent, but like you said, anything over 20 yards is a crap shoot as to where the ball is going to go. There's still 30 minutes left, they still might cut Grossman. :joecool: |

Re: Redskins Cuts
Well I'm surprised that Pat White and Briscoe made the roster. I'm surprised that Minnifield didn't.
Other than that, no surprises. But I'd be pissed if Nick Williams gets taken off our practice squad and Pat White is just worthlessly sitting on our roster for 4 weeks. |

Now that Mike Jones's Washington Post article is up to date, I see he isn't on the roster, which is a great move by the organization. He shined 1 quarter of 1 preseason game. Then got hurt. Last year he was shining all throughout the preseason, got into games in the regular season and dropped almost everything thrown to him. |

He is a free agent, he has that option without saying he is retiring. |

No, he's not a free agent yet. He can be picked up off the waiver wire. And the Seahawks probably were thinking about trading him before making this announcement. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
He is a free agent, he has that option without saying he is retiring.
Hopefully for us it was just a tactic to avoid being traded to a bad team for a 7th rounder. If Seattle thought he would retire if cut...they wouldn't pursue a trade. Who knows...but it is a bummer. |

Once you have 4 years of service in the NFL, there is no waiver wire. Waivers are only for younger players. He is whats called a vested veteran, meaning he is outright cut and doesnt deal with waivers. He is a free agent. Editing to add: A vested veteran only deals with waivers if he is cut after the trade deadline. It doesnt apply to this situation, but I cant honestly say they never deal with waivers. |
Re: Redskins Cuts
Are they going to IR Briscoe or was he just cut?
|
Re: Redskins Cuts
Alright Pat White. I'm glad they kept him. They should have cut Grossman and let Nick Williams make it. Cousins and White are all we need and Nick Williams is a poor man's Wes Welker. Maybe even a Rouge Hooligan's Wes Welker but I would have loved to have him made the team.
