FINALLY got hired after being laid off in early october!

i interviewed [3x w vp of marketing; he told me i was their guy] w a company in october, they jerked me around until january - when they let me know that they instead promoted someone from within. that marks the only time i've interviewed for a job and not been hired.

i interviewed w these guys in late february, 4 interviews later; i received an official offer, i start the first monday in april.

praise be!
Congratulations .My youngest lives in Burbank and it was touch and go for her job wise when she first got out to LA .

Los - belated congrats my friend.

my good news is nominal.

i have a breezy work week - no trials, depos, motion deadlines, appellate briefs. i havent had an easy "no deadline and no heavy lifting" work week in a long time.

So for the last three weeks my wife has been to alot of doctors. She is not completely out of the woods but today we found out it was not cancer. Fuck u cancer. Anyway I have been literally shaking from stress because i have been trying so hard to remain cool and confident for her sake. I am so fucking relieved rite now and I cannot wait to cap this wonderful day off with a Redskins win. So nice to concentrate on game nite and feel normal again!!! Go Skins! Good health and happiness to all you guys and girls (Rave), and your loved ones and families!

Thanks Hog. It was a big hurdle we cleared. Not that it is possible to upset me on a day like this, but they could have dang celebrated with me. Oh well.

WOW congrats Punch and Punch's wife!

Me and my lady are going to the doctor next wednesday to have a breast/lump examined and get a px for a mammogram. I can only hope our road follows yours.

At 36, cancer becomes a real concern.

Good news: My dad is getting out of the hospital today.

Also bad news since I don't want to put this in another thread: He's been diagnosed with diabetes and copd (chronic obstructive pulminary disease) thanks to 50 years of smoking. But I guess that's good news for the cigarette companies because it means they've had a lifelong customer.

Sadly, we lost Joe to the dark side many years ago.

Lots of big employment discrimination verdicts lately around DC (against private companies, not the state/city, what jury wants to award a verdict against their own State?).

good luck Joe.

I have an attorney friend of mine. He....lives for jury trials (and that is his most talented trait). He does all the other attendant steps because he has to. He always feels if he can get in front of a jury....he'll win. I must admit, he's quite good and highly entertaining......
Good Luck JR!

I quit smoking. Its been 8 days, 20 hours, 42 minutes, and 9 seconds but whose counting?
Usually dont toot my own horn, but this is something i have been wanting to do for some time. It has been surprisingly easy so far. I keep expecting to go on a killing spree or atleast sit down and plan one to take the edge off.
Really great app available called "smoke free" that sort of helped me along.

You got this Punch. If you ever need some inspiration, apparently every year when spring rolls around hospitals get slammed with a bunch of people suffering from various smoker related diseases like COPD. Source: my dad who was in the hospital this spring with COPD related shortness of breath. On the bright side though, last week we just celebrated 6 months smoke free for him. If he can do that after 50 years of nonstop smoking I have no doubts you can too.

He's on various meds (which tbh I'm not totally sure the names of) but the big thing that helped him quit was a change in his mentality combined with the patch. His first hospital visit last year kinda woke him up about getting serious, he suffered a partial lung collapse along with the COPD diagnosis.

He did the first two stages of the patch but didn't even bother with the third because he reached the point where he wasn't even having cravings anymore. I think the change in mentality also helped because he had used the patch before without any luck, but once he got serious about it he was able to finally quit. Nowadays he can hang out with his smoker buddies while they're smoking and he still won't think twice about it.

Went to work this morning with a smile on my face that my coworkers say won't leave my face! After 31 years I now have four weeks left to retirement and to add to that my wife who will still be employed for another five years informed me that our health insurance will be 375$ less than what I had estimated.Plans are to take six to seven months off try to get healthy again and then find a job to help keep me from going crazy.
