Unbelievably this is truely the only thing that can explain so many years of complete ineptitude on so many levels. |

Not true. Gibbs is a very God fearing man and used his spiritual prowess to exorcise the demons. |
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Really surprised there isn't more talk, here and across sports media, about Gruden being on the hot seat and Bruce Allen right behind him. My only guess is because everybody knows how dysfunctional the whole franchise is, folks don't see any reason to waste their brainpower and words on it lol?
But seriously, Gruden has shown he's not pro HC material, by a long shot. He's far from an x's and o's genius, though everybody knew that before he was hired right? I felt like the bet was on his leadership skills. But he doesn't have any. Coming out from a bye week his team, offense especially, was sloppy and unprepared. Nobody at Redskins park is buying into Gruden's program, whatever it is. And Allen has given us half a quality season in 5 years. He's got to be among the very worst GM's in pro football at this point. You have to wonder WTF is going on with Snyder and the whole franchise. |

Try a cool rag on your head Vinnie.......fever's a little..high
That pretty much sums it up. Snyder and Cerrato produced a better on field product in their last 5 years than Bruce Allen during his 5 years. Soak that up for a minute before you do anything. |

Both results sux soooo? I know we are having a crack attack from yesterday, but lets put down the glass dick for a second. Every HC should be given more than a year. |
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Gruden definitely needs atleast one more year. Hell if we win one more game we are improved. That being said BA should be removed. Id rather be in cap hell with no draft picks and semi respectable than have money to spend and field 3 win teams as a result of it. This is by far the worst two year period in possibly redskin history that we are on the verge of. Griff no longer looks like the phoenix that will rise from the ashes and take us to the promised land either.

The fact that you dont believe Gibbs had a role in that is pretty laughable. What happened once Gibbs left? You know, those last two years. |
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
They crapped all over themselves in FA again this year.

It could be pretty fun. Here's the recent list of coaches taking over teams with a bad record and turning things around in just one season: - Reid in KC - Caldwell in Detroit - Pettine in Cleveland There's got to be more, I'm too busy to research right now. Again, Gruden hasn't shown any indication he's anywhere near ready to be a pro HC. Sloppy, unprepared and often unmotivated team, especially his unit on offense. His x's and o's are maybe worse than leadership qualities too, but that was issue going back to Cincy and nobody should be surprised there. |

Sooo, to be clear. You would prefer to bring Vinnie back than to give Gruden even 1 year? |

Same story with Caldwell inheriting a loaded roster in Detroit. Of note, both KC and Detroit have elite players on their D-lines, and both get solid play out of the QB position. Reid does deserve credit for signing Alex Smith as one of his first official moves in KC. As for Pettine, he seems to be doing it with smoke and mirrors, and I don't expect Cleveland to stay atop their division. |
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Cleveland is flying by the seat of their pants and they have no clue whats gonna happen week to week. AFC north is all tied up and the Browns arent coming out on top of that division.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
I DO NOT want to see anymore of Ryan Clark. There is no more use for him to be on the field. Put in Thomas and some of the other young guys in the secondary.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Been following the tweets from Gruden's press conference today. Say what you will, the man shoot straight from the hip.
Responding to D.Jax's post on Instagram (Can't be epic with basic ****"): Addressed the comments with the team. Agreed that they were aimed at RG3. As to RGIII's comments that the everyone the team needs to look in the mirror: RGIII needs to worry about himself. It's Gruden's job to worry about the team. On RGIII's play: - Screwing up basics. Not anywhere close to where he needs to be. Taking 5 step drops on 3 step routes. Not moving up in the pocket when he should. Footwork really bad. - His overthrows to D.Jax were big plays. TBay hit their plays to Evans, needed to hit ours to D.Jax; Ian Rappaport: "I can't say I have ever heard a head coach talk about his QB like Jay Gruden just did about RGIII. Very, very real stuff." B. McHenry: "Look at the massive rift between RG3 & Shanahan behind closed doors. Gruden went hard publicly. Interesting to see how Griffin handles." Huge fan of RG3 - but, yup. Sit down, shut up, & play hard. Stop tweeting about haters and improve your footwork and pocket presence. Learn your position before telling others they need to improve theirs. Bigger fan of Gruden. He may fail here, but the man stepped it up and said. "My team. My calls." |
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Couple answers:
I didn't mention anything about Gibbs, not sure who that was? I never want Vinnie here again, my point was Bruce Allen has actually been worse in terms of the GM/personnel situation. Time to restructure the FO is what I'm saying. Not sure what y'all are seeing in Gruden that deserves another year. |

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
I agree and disagree -- RGIII surely needs to focus on his own game, but as the QB, he has responsibility for movement and positioning of other guys on offense and leading in the huddle, and so he has to lead there and make sure others are on the same page with him.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
by bringing the bullshit into the open then there is less drama. It is hard to troll the truth. Now he just needs to sit RG.3 and try to get the rest of the team back to buying in - which they were after Dallas; meaning he has to follow through. It might not be this week but it needs to be soon.
RG.3 needs to shut his mouth too. He is coming across as a spoiled baby every time he speaks to the press; no way grown men will follow that bullshit. It is pretty clear to me....team fixes Captain Kirk and the Starship Interception (who ever used that first props and thanks) McCoy comes in wins 2 games by not shitting his pants in the pocket, all looks well.... RGMe takes the helm and starts calling audibles in whinese and the team says @#$% you That is a simple way to look at it, but I don't think it is far off.... |

We've already tried the "we're a team, we win and lose together." Kinda done with it. Need some accountability to the leaders. I'm seeing very few folks go out there and win their match ups. Throw them all to the wolves. I'm sure RG3 will, yet again, run to twitter and talk about proving all his doubters wrong. He played terrible. The OL played terrible. Ryan Clark played Terrible. Outside DeSean Jackson, Andre Roberts, Amerson, Breeland and Way. I don't see much on this team. I can deal with losses. I can't deal with beating ourselves as we do week in week out. The only thing I can count on with this team, is that at least once per game the defense will leave a receiver completely uncovered. |
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
The talk just keeps the drama going. Turmoil inside the locker room, turmoil outside. I don't see the benefit. In the end talk just gets people fired.
|
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
And when we keep talking bout drama, it takes away from what I really want to know, what the fuck was haslet calling the second half of yesterday and how did we let a effing rookie WR tourch us multiple times. Shit I know rg3 needs to develop, but there is no excuse from the defense the second half. Haslet has to go, I'm done
|
Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Gruden holds the players accountable, publicly. Not sure that's the right way to go about it but he's being himself. I don't have a problem with it. Last year everyone complained that Shanahan lied and all, now we get a guy who tells the truth and isn't afraid to go after the owners pet. To me there's bigger things to worry about then what the coach says to the media.

The team is trash whether or not gruden is honest with the media. Don't think the game could play any worst so any locker room issues won't really matter at this point. Let the man speak... Only entertaining aspect for the skins anyway.

It is too early to say anything about gruden. Allen however...
Maybe Belichick fits that description, although what he started in Cleveland was pretty special. Not sure who else would fit your description? I'm saying there's nothing special to point at with Gruden. Just the fact so many players are acting out says he doesn't command respect and lead the team. Not just RG, I'm talking about the locker room crap after the Vikes game. And the same crap translates to the field. Grudens team has been sloppy and unprepared almost every game. They don't play smart and they don't play hard. His offense isn't impressive either. Not enough play action and pushing the ball down the field. So apart from him being likable and saying some clever things at the podium, what's he doing to earn this opportunity? Feels pretty similar to zorn. Are you glad we kept him for a 2nd season? |
