1st one I would say they needed an Eli Manning type of QB. One who just needs to be clutch. I'll give you the first one that they didn't need elite play for that super bowl. They still needed a clutch QB but not an elite QB
Second one is definitely not true. They almost gave up 400 yards of offense and kept giving up big play after big play. They needed 32 points to win the game. Tom Brady had to throw the ball almost 50 times for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns.
You are correct. Maybe it was one of the other games leading up to the SB I was thinking about where he played like dog shit. I just know he's had some bad games and still got wins. I find it interesting looking at past and current QB ratings for the post-season.
I do find it funny the Pats were seconds away from losing this game, probably should have lost, then a miracle play happens and all of a sudden everyone is gushing about Brady as if he picked off the pass. He played a great game don't get me wrong, but the game was out of his hands at that point. We could very easily be sitting here talking about his 3rd straight SB loss.
What about the fact that if not for a "miracle play " going in seattles favor than Brady drives down the field against a superb defense on the biggest stage to win his fourth superbowl? If you are going to bring up the INT than bring up the catch as well that put them down there at the goalline to begin with. Brady deserves gushing. No shame in it. Dudes a rock star. People hate him. Oh well. Their run game did not exist. He picked apart what some consider one of the best pass d's of all time on the biggest stage. If gushing at that is wrong than i dont wanna be rite. Edit: that catch by Seattle was a miracle. Ball bounced around in miraculous fashion. The INT was a freakin great read and play not a miracle at all as a matter of fact. |

It wouldn't have mattered if he'd won or lost. How many QB get to 6 SB's? None. |

Nobody is doubting that. People or i should say a person is doubting that a who was under center for the Pats had little to do with it. It was giftwrapped for him? 37-50 for 300+ and 4 TD's - 57 rushing yards - no run support at all basically ! Against that secondary? To say that is giftwrapped for Brady is just nonsense. He was the MVP and he deserved it 110%! |

Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread
quinn had no answer for the Pats scheme of clearing out space, isolating sherman and using vereen/edelman to leak out of the back and into the previously cleared out open area.
really surprised they seahawks stayed in that soft shell D. it wasnt like the Pats were trying new stuff. it was the same offensive play calling as the ravens and colts. |

a good bit of talking heads are saying the pats short pass timing offense is like a run game - control clock and take 3-7 yards at a time. seems like straight west coast offense to me, just run at a much more efficient level. |

Gotta say Seattle has no class.
That Doug Baldwin celebration The brawl after the turnover Sherman calling out revis Pete Carroll laughing on the sidelines when things were going good. Really no class on a major stage |

True but he did lead the biggest second half comeback in Super Bowl history. 4 td against the defense, not easy to do. New England had zero running game |

Irvin apologizes .... by saying he was just protecting a brother and he would do it again. congratulations on being the 1st dude ejected from a SB. I always think it is bush league to get physical on a kneel down. Like Gronk said - its football, emotions run high .... but the seahawks are odd. they cant win with class, they cant lose without getting cheap. edit -- this guy below is pretty funny. seahawks = evil taint! Matt R****** · Top Commenter · Arizona State University Another classless Seattle Seahawk thug apologizing for getting caught. I sure hope this undignified lot keeps their losing streak going big time next season. Congratulations Seahawks on turning virtually the entire NFL fan base against you. Because you do not know how act with class. The Seahawks are the obnoxious, vulgar, evil that taints the entire landscape. If the classless Seahawks never win again it will be too soon for me! Running your mouth, with trash-talking arrogance is no way to impress anyone. This is who the Seahawks and this bum are. Just like Richard Sherman and Baldwin. The same clods that need to exit forever. Get injured and lose big.. the more the merrier. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I wish nothing but the worst for this crude, band of miscreants that are the Seahawks. |

Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread
i personally wouldnt even try a run/pass option. the D could fan out taking away the run option leaving russell to have to force a pass. unless i really really trusted my QB to get outside the tackle and throw it away if a guy is not wide open. thats a lot of trust when you could just run it.
just run it 3 times with a min left. dont even risk a handoff. do 3 QB sneaks. throwing on the 1 yard line is what I do to pad RG3 stats in madden. actually i dont even throw it, i QB sneak it from the 1. im convinced it was done to make Wilson the star and make him more profitable for the team to offset his huge new deal. Bevell played madden with the SB on the line. wtf is that? |

We differ on our opinions apparently of how much Brady had to do with the win. We differ on who outplayed who - him or Wilson? Thats fine. No need to get bent or call people idiots as others have already stated.
Edit: i never said that you stated tom had a bad game. I never said you stated that he didnt have ANYTHING to do with it. I said you stated he had little to do with it. Big difference. Since you jumped into the convo last night u have been hellbent on proving Brady did not shine, that the defense won the game for him, that it was giftwrapped for him. I disagree. That is all. I aplogize for disagreeing, but imo Brady was the straw that stirred the drink last night - not sure how you can see it differently but i certainly wont call you an idiot for it. |
Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread
Wilson barely made 50% of his passes.
He thew a game killing pick. Brady sliced and diced the Seattle defense in the 4th quarter and got MVP. Brady ownzed Wilson. |

I think Wilson still had a good game. It just wasn't good enough.

They decided it was probably stop them now or lose the game. Maybe memories of playing the Giants a couple of years ago popped up in their mind. |

Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread
I hate that Russell Wilson had to lose. I have so much respect for that guy. Great guy off field. Great player on the field. And it's scary that he's so young - he's just going to get better.
Having said that, I'm glad the Seahawks lost. But I don't think this loss has humbled them. I think they're still going to talk smack (I'm looking at you Richard Sherman), I think they're still going to be arrogant, and I think until some team comes up and smacks them right in the face and completely embarrasses them on national television, you won't see much of a change with the Seahawks. But, I do take great joy and seeing them disappointed, even if it was at the hands of the New England Patriots. With that said, I hope Scot McCloughan has what it takes to bring some of that Seattle magic to the Redskins. To build a powerhouse than can rival the Seahawks in the post season would be great. And then of course, a team that can win the Super Bowl. By the way, I could have stood to have seen more of Katy Perry. |

But when they are at the one yard line, why not use your timeouts? Seattle was going to try n punch it in. No way they are going to try and make new england use their timeouts? I mean u wind up losing with 40 seconds left or maybe 0 seconds left? I was yelling at my tv wtf r u doing?!? Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread
Bottom line, it was a great game. Right up there as one of the most exciting games. I am not a fan of either team but still a good game to watch. Good teams making good plays.
Brady played a really good game but was helped by an excellent game plan and solid games from his receivers - I don't recall any bad drops and more than a few really nice catches. Mostly, well thrown balls to the right receiver who then caught them and, generally, made a few extra yards. Had the Pats lost, however, the goal line interception early on would have been critical (horrible throw, just bad and cost points). Wilson also played well. Made plays when he had to do so, but just not enough. NE contained Lynch and, while a solid game, he never really took it over as I have seen him do in other big games. Regardless, the final pass play was a terrible, terrible call and the Seattle OC's attempt to blame the receiver (alleging he didn't fight hard enough) was ridiculous. It was a team effort by both squads. A few missed calls, but none that made me say "Well, that really taints the game." As for the brawl, yeah, punches were thrown by both but Seattle blew their cool and started it. Both sides escalated it. |

Wilson just seems like a real good guy. I find no reason to hate on him at all. I mean he goes to local hospitals on his day off to visit cancer patients. It's some of his teammates that rub me the wrong way and Sherman is one of them. That crap he pulled calling out Revis during the game is what I'm talking about. |

It's a competition, you can respect your opponent and still talk crap to them, Wilson I don't like because people talk about him like he is Drew Brees. Richard Sherman is being himself. To be honest I don't care if athletes visit hospitals or donate charities, that isn't why I watch sports. Richard Sherman strikes me as the same person on the field that he is off. Also, never really cared about the athlete being some kind of ambassador of peace. |

I disagree with that. A community is only as strong as the members of the community, I don't care if you are a small business owner, an athlete a politician, a teacher a CEO of a publically traded company if you are not a vested member of the community you are not being responsible.
