Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

Unless Morris finds the sudden burst to the hole he had in his first couple of years I'm not concerned. He's more of a zone runner anyway, not a downhill/power type. And let's be honest, he benefited tremendously when he had the threat of the zone read.

It's not the football side of things that I care about, because his last couple of seasons have been declining, it's the fact that he's one of my favorite people in the NFL and if he plays for the Cowboys I just can't bring myself to root for him. He could play for 28 other teams and I would root for him the way I root for every Redskin, but Dallas? There has to be a better fit for him.

it honestly makes a lot of sense for dallas, he'll be cheap and that line will open holes. he just needs to prove he can figure out his hesitation issues from last year to get back on track.

i'd rather he go somewhere else, but that's probably his best option if he wants to show he can still play.

This would be a great place for him...out of the limelight for a bit, low expectations for the team next year.

Nowhere to go but up.

Morris would not start over McFadden but he'd be that dependable depth guy.

The limelight will follow him where ever he goes.

He will continue to be a national story even in a small media market like Cleveland.

I agree with matty. Morris benefitted greatly from RG3 and the read option.

The eye in the sky doesn't lie. All the teams see his tape from 13 and 14. Pretty surprising that the Rams or SF haven't called for him. Maybe they will at some poont.

Maybe but I don't think it'll be before the draft. I assume his attitude and negative views from others haven't helped him either. I was almost certain he'd go to Houston

why would the Rams call for him? . . . they have the best young RB to come out in a long time . . . and a couple of backups that are just as good if not better than Alfred Morris . . . 49ers too, Carlos Hyde is far better overall runner than Alfmo . . . Alfmo had two great years for a reason, first was RGIII as all mobile QB's make the running game better .. . and Mike Shanahan as all Shanahan teams have good running games, no matter the back . . . and 9 times out of 10, when that running back leaves Shanahan (in in this case when Shanahan leaves the running back) he looks average at best.

I really like FO work for the most part.

This article covers "major" free agent signings. We don't appear on the good or bad list.

NYG appear in exactly the right place at the worst end of the bad deal list.

Their two "bad" signings are going to have to play all world to live up to the contract.

Wrong. Morris without the threat of RG3's run on the read option is decidedly mediocre. Also a non factor as a pass catcher.

McFadden actually has speed, he's a threat to take it to the house.

Im speaking statistics, hes played better and had better stats each year since he came in (obviously minus this season) just judging by the eye test

He crushed him 12, 13, 14 head and shoulders above em..
I think in a competition ALFMO beats him out wether they ask him to catch a ton of passes or not..they threw to Morris a whopping 13 times last year... he caught 10 of them.... mcfadden didn't even have a ton more catches than Chris Thompson last year lol

Glad we didn't sign NT Ian Williams, he failed his physical due to multiple ankles surgeries and the 49ers re-did his contract to 1 year instead of 5. He might not start the season.

lol at the commenter Chip Warren's note.
"The site gave the Giants, who spent big on some of the biggest names in free agency including defensive end Olivier Vernon, nose tackle Damon Harrison, cornerback Janoris Jenkins and re-signing defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul among others, didn’t get great value from free agency to date."

Hey buddy I give you an F- for your horrendous writing skills. You would do well to get someone to proofread your stories.
As to the premise of the article, it seems like the writer wanted to make the case that overpaying was ok because you got players pff ranked high before FA(1, 8, 28). But having a high ranking doesn't mean that over paying for those players is going to give you a high grade when it comes to ranking the value added to your team. In fact the FO article made the case pretty convincingly that the Giants did not make money wise decisions with the contracts they gave their FA signings.

LOL, and again that must be seen when the season starts.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

it'd be shocking if they weren't better this year and the next, but that doesn't mean the contracts won't be a net negative over their entire term, since that money can't then be used on younger players that might end up walking etc. overspending now limits you in future years, not the current one.

not saying it can't work or pff is right/wrong, just that it's risky and spending sprees tend to work out poorly. jpp was a good value buy though, esp since you know exactly what he provides in the giants system.

Love the person; hate the player. Obviously he has to go where he's wanted, and if the Cowboys were the only team knocking on his door so be it. I wish him luck for 14 games a year.

I'm surprised a team like Miami didn't consider Morris. They're RB situation is not a very good one, their 2nd year RB has knee issues and they lost out on CJ Anderson.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

Bummed about Alfmo going to the Cowpukes. Time to change the avatar.

Love the guy, as a player, he just couldn't recreate the rookie magic and really declined. Might have been Jay's system, might have just been a decline. At the end, he was essentially Ryan Torrain redux who got the yards that were there but not much more. Sometimes, however, he didn't even get the yards available.

He will do okay in Dallas, solid line and system fit. He will get some yards but only b/c they are their for the taking.

See ya Alfmo! Good luck to you. Thanks for 2012.

Good for him. Can't blame him. He gets to run behind a real good line and continue his career. If we were him we'd be doing the same thing.

Obviously the RO helped Morris but he is still a good player. Just needs to be in the right situation.

I hate to see Alfred go anywhere, especially Dallas. I don't blame him though, the Skins told him to test free agency & he did just that. Plus it seems to be a good fit for him. He's one of the good guys in the league, I wish him well (except for twice each season he's there).
