Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Apparently Logan is feeling disappointed about the market for his services and thus is considering one-year offers. He'll bet on himself like Pryor. We benefit if we can land him. Definitely worth $5M or $6M on a one year deal.

Anyone wondering about TPs speed? Still has the longest QB run in NFL history. 93 yards

Yes, but that's straight-line speed, only works with the go-route straight down the field. Djax has speed AND quickness (ie. change directions/etc), which is why he's elite. Pryor however, could be very good -- he's only just starting WR and has good height along with the speed. Happy with this, hoping it works out. |

Pryor had 2 more receiving yards than Djax last year (1007 to 1005), with shitty QBs. That's an excellent signing. Pryor is fast AND strong, less injury prone than Desean, love him already! Actually, if they sign KC to a long term deal, I will already be more than happy with the offseason. Good free agency so far, nothing flashy, adding legitimate starters on defense to fill obvious holes, not signing any aging big names... is this really the Redskins?! Would love them to sign ILB Zach Brown, and then have a good draft, and sign KC... that would be a perfect offseason! |
Well if we get Logan, we won't need much more on defense.. Maybe another CB, and LB but that's not bad.
Even if we get Logan, I still want DL help. We wouldn't be set there with just that. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Logan is a disruption to offensive lines. The team is finally building a strong front. I'm now curious to know what they will do a linebacker and the interior OL. We need linebackers who can get into the backfield and stuff the run! We now have a D-line that can keep lineman off the MLB

He also had no receiving help so all passes went to him basically. I see him going for something like 65-70 receptions 800-900 yards and 6-9 TDs |

Logan is very good against the run and in my opinion would be the best of the then-three linemen we acquired. And it would genuinely hurt the Eagles. Fletcher Cox is a great player, but the presence of Logan on that line ensures that offensive lines can't just double team Cox all day. If Logan leaves, now they can, and Cox's life gets way harder. Beau Allen is not a good replacement for Bennie Logan. Sounds like Logan was expecting a better market. Fine give him one year like we did with Pryor. I love the prove it deal, nothing keeps a player hungry quite like a free agent feeding frenzy. Hankins would be a good consolation prize. But Bennie. One year $6M. Do it! |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I love the Pryor signing. Great FA move. Low risk, high reward. No way could the Redskins pay Garcon and Jackson the money they're getting.
Now if they could get Logan, plus draft some more studs, get some luck with Galette...we're on our way. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I like the Pryor signing.
He's older then I would like for a player still learning their position but he's was very productive in his first year. He got a ton of targets and that's primarily what receivers need to get production. So I question how much of his production was based on volume? But I like his physical skillset which is ideal for a receiver, he profiles very similarly to Julio Jones. There is still upside if he expands his route tree and sharpens his route running. He's not 'quick' but there are several ways an offense could make good use of his speed and size. |

Good article...these guys seem like lunch pail, do the dirty work and more importantly, "you know your role and excel at it" type signings. Backbone of a defense. I like it. But I think Stacy will be a d-end, he won't sniff the nose spot..he will kick down in the nickel and be effective. Benie Logan will play more of the disruptive force if we can land him. These moves are all about improving the run defense. Great approach and makes perfect sense from last year. At least the fo is making sense in free agency and seem to have a plan. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Imho getting rid of Baker for these guys isn't improvement.
Its creating a hole and filling it with lesser players. |
Imho getting rid of Baker for these guys isn't improvement.

Baker was a starter for us. What if these guys aren't expected to be starters as we obtain more talent in FA and the draft? The question then becomes "are they better than Ricky Jean, Ziggy, etc". |

I feel that we need to land one of them. I'd like to get one of them on a multi-year deal. I suspect that their market values are down because there is such a strong DL draft class this season and not because either on of them has anything more to prove. They may think that a one-year deal works for them because next year's DL draft class isn't expected to be as strong as this year's class. But a multi-year deal definitely works for us because these guys are good young NFL players. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
McGee is rated as Baker's equal by PFF. If you don't like PFF fine, but you can't deny he was a big part of the DL rotation on a very good Raider defense. I don't think we lose anything going from Baker to McGee, personally.
On McClain it does feel to me like we overpaid for a journeyman. But he does penetrate well. I want Logan bad, he's better than Baker. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
If you take off your burgundy colored glasses, you have to acknowledge that while Baker was our best lineman he was still pretty inconsistent.

Baker had a 82 PFF rating FWIW Hankins rating was about the same as Logan...... I don't see any of these signings as strong pluses except for Pryor. The rest are middling players who may or may not make an impact. Which is ok since none of them were too expensive

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports the Patriots are still "keeping close tabs" on free agent Dont'a Hightower.
The Patriots were comfortable letting Hightower set his value on the open market, and that is looking like a good decision early in free agency. Although there have been reports about interest, Hightower has yet to be solidly linked to any team. With New England always in win-now mode, they should be looking to bring back Hightower if the price is right. Soft market for Hightower so far? Interesting... |
