But you can look at the KC game where we were a drop TD away from a win, Eagles game was a possible winning drive with a bullshit strip-sack call that was wrong, and this past game should have been a win and we didn't get a chance to redeem ourselves with a bullshit grounding call.

With all of the injuries, we have played tough and well enough to win. This team simply does not have the playmakers at Running Back, Wide Receiver, and has issues still on both the DLine (no NT/DT) and Oline (Interior Play at Guard and Center)...

We need to sign Cousins long term, get healthy, and continue to draft talent. Also, we should sign a playmaker at WR or RB. Spending some money there.

Gruden has a lot of pull with the front office, Id say let it continue, give it 2 more years.

Looks like our group is about 50/50 on sending Gruden to the pit of misery or not.

I can see the other side, but he just hasn't shown me he can manage a game correctly in big time situations. And that trust is gone. Don't want to waste another season to see if he magically figures it out.

Callahan. He has the pedigree, the look, praise around the league but imo our run problems started when he came aboard. I like Callahan and want him vs not wanting him ... but I do put about half the blame for our run problems on him. And our run problems are our biggest holdback on offense these past 3-4 years. The problem is significant.

Gruden has repeatedly said Callahan has a say in game planning/play calling, especially on run plays. Gruden, speaking in broad terms and not to any one play, has said sometimes in a game he will ask Callahan for his best run play in that situation. I imagine on crucial 3rd and 1s, Callahan has a say or may even get to pick the type of run play. Gruden decides to run it, Callahan decides what run to call.

Good for Gruden to not say it (if true) but I wouldnt be surprised Callahan called the run play to the right on that 3rd and 1.

I was all for keeping him until Sunday. That was it for me. If we had a better coach we win that game.

Unless we're able to pluck Jim Harbaugh from Michigan, I don't know who would be available to coach the Redskins next year that's going to have the magic beans you guys are hoping this next coach possesses.

Every great coach that ever was came up the ranks somewhere. Just because his last name isn’t a big one doesn’t mean diddly. Everyone thought Pederson was a lame hire, and he has the Birds flying real high.
The next coach might be a skidmark. He also may be great but Gruden is definitely not holding the magic beans. So how long do you wait before you spin the wheel again? Gruden has been here for a while now, and i am hard pressed to think of one big game that any of his teams have won.

Gruden has been here 4 years. Year one he inherited a team that went 4-12, and we have had a "winning record" since. This year we should finish either 9-7 or 10-6. That's pretty good in the NFL today. And I think we have seen lots of young talent stepping up in the heat of the games.

He may turn out to be a perennial 9-7 guy, but all it takes is a light switch or two going on and he could be a lot better.

Sometimes that type of loss can be a turning point for a coach/player even in life in general. Maybe it will fire him up and open his eyes a little. Maybe not, but he seems like a smart enough cookie that it just might.

Well, yeah, if he was interested in leaving Michigan, I would definitely be interested in Harbaugh. I don't know if he's interested in coming back to the NFL right now or not.

I think the difference is, these diamond in the rough coaches catch the eyes of a competent GM who has a sense for how a football team should be ran and coached. We have Bruce Allen. Do you really think he has an eye for talent when it comes to coaching? We know he really isn't a personnel guy when it comes to on-field talent. He relied, heavily, on Scot McCloughan's draft board this past spring if that tells you anything.

And let's face it, the way we hire and handle the coaching staff is a convoluted sort of way. Shanahan had a little more power with his coaching staff, but Gruden hasn't. He didn't really get to pick who his coaches were going to be - especially on the defensive side of the ball. That staff was already there. Likewise, it wasn't him firing Joe Barry and the other position coaches, that came from Bruce Allen. Gruden has no power with coaching personnel, and that's screwed up.

What I'm saying is, we need a competent GM who knows how to run the football operations side of everything, and we need him (alone) to evaluate the head coach and determine who would be the best fit, and then hire that guy and let that guy hire his assistants. Bruce Allen wants to pick the head coaches' coaching staff and have it in place before the head coach has a say in anything, and how is that a recipe for success?
