Franchise Cousins and then trade him and Gruden to the Bengals?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk[/quote] Damn straight, but what would we have to give up to move up to get him? This team has a lot of holes to plug to get back to the playoffs. I like the idea of getting the kid from Wyoming. He plays in a pro style offense and shows a lot of promise. He would fall to us easily. I would take Baker Mayfield in a heartbeat, but we need all the quality picks we can get(keep). |

In fairness to Cousins, he was awful today, but his wr's were just as bad. WTF happened to Crowder? I think I'm going to just call Doc Charmin.

I agree, but that is just one reason not to sign Kirk, even if he has the slightest interest in staying. Not only doesn't the team have a Wr corp, we have a problem stopping the run. Not to mention we don't have any really good running backs not named Thompson. Depth is a major problem. |

We are always teased somehow that every season we have a shot at it. I have family in Cleveland, they just accept the mediocrity , and roll with it. They know just before week one that the season already is in the dumpster. We Skins fans torture ourselves to death thinking we can always take the division, when we know deep down we don't have the horses to get the job done. |
Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
I'd like to regroup and get Kirk some weapons and some of his guys back. He played like shit today but the sky isn't falling. This has been a rag tag team for the last several weeks.

It is all about the Ws and the guy's W-L percentage is in the range of Gus Frerotte's. I laughed my ass off back in 1998-99 when Gus actually wanted a raise to be resigned. For what? Head butting another wall? |

Agreed. This game doesn’t sum up his season. Or career. As bad as it was. I’m less concerned about Cousins than I am Gruden. How can you let a 2 win division rival with zero to play for bully you? Can we get the other Gruden in here? Or better still, Cowher? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Kirk is a starting QB, and that is it. He has shown his max potential and like you said has no talent to work with. This guy hasn't done anything to warrant a raise, a raise mind you, that might keep us from getting better talent or keeping the guys that show promise. Do we keep a QB, but always have him surrounded by a rather talent deficient team, or dump the average QB and surround the new guy with a lot of talent? It is a damned if we do, damned if we don't type thing. |

Was today a big loss? It sounds like some people are mad we didn't finish the season on a strong note today. S/N what happened to the notion of fielding the best 53, and winning a SB like that? Do people realize Kirk has a 24 million cap hit this year? Adding another few mil onto that is not going to break our backs. |

This has been a rag tag group almost since Gruden came aboard. Remember 2015? We were ravaged by injuries as well. Our FA Wrs stayed healthy for the most part. |
Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
Thank goodness we didn’t play the Browns today. Could you imagine being the team to end both winless streaks? And it would have happened too.
I’ll bet Mara ensures we play the NYG at home every week 17 from now on. Crazy how bad we are in that setting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
Like I keep saying, Kirk is baffling. There are one or two games a year where a truly top-10 QB needs to take control and make a statement. There are plenty of excuses for what happened today (blah, blah, blah), but Kirk has to own up to his part. I know he's the best statistical QB ever to play for us, but I don't trust him to win a playoff game.
Dan and Bruce have driven the bus into a ditch, and we're going to be here for a while. |

Especially with .500 on the line. He just doesn't have the goods when you need the goods. He can't beat Giants or Cowboys. So every year we're automatic for 3 or 4 losses. If we resign him obviously I'll root for him, but after another meltdown, the juice isn't worth the squeeze. |

Who do you want to bring in here that's better than Cousins? Deshawn Watson isn't in this draft. You can keep Alex Smith or Andy Dalton. Everyone has a hard on for Baker Mayfield, he certainly makes plays with both his arm and legs. |

I can't take you seriously because of this line. Nobody in the NFL gets amped up to finish the season at .500. Would it be a solid statement to make after all the injuries? Sure. But it's nowhere near the same as finishing the season strong trying to make a playoff run or just get in. |

No one we draft will be as good year 1, but we're a 7-9 team. Paying 30 million for an 8-8ish ceiling isn't worth it to me. We can sign guys to long term contracts and bring in a QB that gets a year to learn, and that is worth the risk to me . Is giving a mediocre qb 30 million worth not having a better option for 1 year? I just don't see Kirk ever winning a SB, and that's the only thing that matters. |

The people who had the over on 7.5 wins (me) take it serious. Listening to every former Redskins player this week, they weren't pumped for the game. They wanted a good showing but more than anything no injuries. I don't know how important .500 was to the team or players. I have a feeling it wasn't. Whether it should be is up for debate. |

That was an add on to my point, and I do think a lot of fans/players value being .500+ vs. under that. This site proves it from other threads, on the fan side. I see your point tho. At the end of the day 7-9 is the same as 8-8 if no playoffs. |
Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
Swearinger said it stunk to not finish 8-8. There is just something to not losing more than you win. A pride thing, even if no difference on making playoffs.

Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
Again I say if kirk would sign a salary cap friendly deal, then I say sign him. If not, then I say to get something for him and send him packing. He is not worth anywhere near 27 million. Colt can probably do that well and save us several million to get help else where. I would start with a top notch RB.

Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
So what’s a “cap friendly deal” exactly?

This is really the jist of everything. It can be similarly phrased as how much is he worth? Unfortunately the answer is getting more difficult, not easier. |
Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
We just paid him $24m this year so let’s add 10% and go from there. If you think he needs to take less you’re simply not being realistic.

Re: @ Giants Final Gameday thread of the year !
One thing I will say, don't let contract negotiations linger on. The team needs to start now in building for 2018. So, let's take the guessing game out of this and get a deal down right away, or let's plan to move on and put a plan in place for 2018. As much as I like Cousins, you can't allow him to string this along deep into the offseason.
