Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
My only hangup with Taylor is the injury. I've been putting a lot of posts praising the FO, but the one area, other than QB, that they just haven't gotten right is DLine. They relied on Galette the first two years and then when he went out, the FO seemed shocked. If they put more credit to PT being healthy than they should, I can see them passing on Hankins and a first round DL and we ought to (and need to) get a stud NT out of this draft.

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I would think that the team does not plan to alter it's plans one iota with or without Phil Taylor. Like Matty said, it's a eh worth a shot signing. You still need to make moves to round out the line because you can't count on Taylor.
Still it'd be a cool story. I like the guy. Hope it works out. |

Who knows if this is true, but I've wondered recently if Dan did have to make a change with Bruce how would he do it in a way for him to save face as the son of a Redskins icon. I actually think that would be important to him. If he did demote him, they could spin the decision as Bruce wanting to take a less involved role for personal reasons. Redskins Offseason Thread
^ Any “demotion” would definitely be spun as him wanting to take a step back and being an advisor of sorts regarding the new stadium

Looks like he's potentially a good backup. Could they trade Colt for anything you think? Probably not, but even cutting him will save cap space. Even if they keep a 3, I do feel better having a younger guy on the team. I was a little worried about having two older guys. If both went down and we had to go with a developmental guy with no experience it would get ugly quickly. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Nothing to get excited about, they are not going to trade Colt. They traded almost nothing, and at best Kevin Hogan is third string.

Takes QB out of the draft need completely
They did not even trade a 6th round pick, they moved down 17 spots. Hogan will not compete with McCoy, he will be lucky to make the team. I disagree, they could still take a QB in the mid-rounds.Colt is in the last year of his contract and there is no way they will pay $$$$ for 2nd string QB in 2019. |

Big Hogan fan, was a solid QB at Stanford (poor man’s version of Andrew Luck). From McLean, VA and a smart guy. Worth a risk.

Especially when the risk is 17 spots down in the 6th round. Heck, I might even be worth that risk. |

You? Let's not get carried away. I wouldn't trade a stale baguette for you. :laughing- Seriously, I agree with you. This trade is all upside for the Skins. |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I wouldn’t say there’s any real risk involved, we moved down a few spots late in the draft and picked up a QB to develop, sounds like a win to me

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I'm curious to see how this goes, I love the fact that Redskins are searching for players at different places. Of course, I know some teams do this as well but still this would be good story if it works out for Jordan and Redskins.

Rugby is a very different sport, especially 13 players rugby where there is no ruck, no maul, and scrums are less contested than in 15 players rugby. So nothing close to the trench battle that is an NFL OLine facing an NFL DLine.
So a part from his body, athleticism and ability to take and give big hits, Jordan is pretty much starting from scratch. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

That said, I would not mind having him learn under Callahan if that was the way they went. He is definitely a project not a short term solution. |

But maybe with his athleticism and speed (relatively to his size and weight) he and the people advising him thought it would be a waste to stick him to pushing people back. We'll see, anyway we're not the only team giving a look so he may end up on somebody else's practice squad... Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

I was wondering same thing. Maybe Redskins feel he is too tall to play NT? NTs need to have good leverage to hold its position on the line, or just that they feel he could develop into good tackle. |

You are probably right, that would be a tall NT. |

You nailed it. NT's are squatty. You need to stay low or you can't anchor against the run. It's not a bad thing to be tall at NT, 6'3" can work as long as your center of gravity is still low. But 6'8" is just too darn tall - centers and guards will get under you and lift you out of the play. At OT, arm length is a huge advantage to keep pass rushers at bay. That's definitely the right spot for his body type. He'll make Moses look like |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Maybe he can learn from Trent for a couple years and then take his spot? It's possible I suppose, although Trent is still young for a OT so we are probably good for 5 years
|
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Thinking of him as a replacement for Trent would be fairly insane. Again, you're an idiot.
The play is to just look for him to replace Nsekhe, who will get a shot at a starting job next year in free agency. |

Coming from a different sport he'd be lucky to make it to a 53 men roster year 1. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |
