The other sports are much more dependent on individual stars so the top group of players has generally had a lot of influence on the top contracts which has the effect of carrying down the line.

The other sports dont have as large rosters, so in order to pump up the numbers on the top contracts the NFL owners claimed they had to have an out.

Football players are much more likely not to finish a contract due to both drop off in play and injury so it has been easier to argue that full terms shouldnt be guaranteed. If they go to guaranteed contracts you will see much shorter lengths, like KCousins is.

And the NFLPA is a substantially weaker union because so many of its active playing members know they only get so many years and a real strike likely takes one year away from their income. Thats not a thing to Aaron Rodgers or other superstars, but there are a lot of 20-23 year olds who see the loss of 500k in a year to stand up for the already rich players ability to get more money, or 30+ players who may only have 1 or two years left. Those two disparate groups create splits and dissensions that the owners can use against the union.

Seems like the story is he hired a couple people to go over there. Not sure if the intent was to beat her up but I'm sure the law is going to frown on it regardless.

Yeah, that was very disappointing to hear. However, the guy that JP Findlay interviewed either didn't seem to know much or did not want to say much about Alexander's troubles. Which was a bit annoying. I know they interviewed beat reporters for FSU and Alabama, before the draft, which had tons of information on the players' characters and whatno.

I'm on the other side of this completely. I don't like TO, but he was the dominant receiver in the league for a very long time. He was the cream of the crop and his numbers, performance, and longevity clearly warrant induction.

There were a handful of unelected, unqualified journalists who, despite HOF performance and numbers kept him out because he was a "distraction." They unilaterally create arbitrary requirements beyond performance for entry.

My opinion is F those guys.

Joe Jacoby is a prime example of the HOF voters ignorance and arrogance. They are uniquely unqualified to determine if Jacoby should be in the HOF because they don't have the skill set to judge line play but would never in a million years concede as much.

Literally, the most dominant pass rushers of Jacoby's era, who are in the HOF, were lobbying for him because he was their superior in the game. This made no difference to this arrogant self-rightous lot.

F them.

One of the voters responded to TO's no show by saying he wouldn't have voted him in if he knew he wouldn't appear.

Excuse me, but TO's appearance at the enshrinement ceremony has nothing to do with him being a HOF player but it demonstrates, at it's essence, just how self-important these fat out of shape, self-aggrandizing, cliquish, fan boys are.

I'm glad TO didn't cow tow to them, his performance got him, unlike some players who lobby and kiss A. He doesn't owe them anything.

Regardless of the Hall voters TO has shown his true colors yet again. He’s always been all about himself. No doubt his play on the field was top notch, but he was also a selfish showboat and not a great teammate. Three teams decided he wasn’t worth the hassle in the prime years of his career. SF, Philly, and Dallas all moved on from him. So tired of this no class fool.
