Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
Who would have thought going into the season with Colt as the starter is probably the most realistic and smart scenario at this point.
Even if the team mortgages the future again for a 1st round QB, it makes sense to let him learn the offense behind Colt for a stretch. Everybody knows full well that Bruce & Co. can totally make the situation worse for the team both this year and in the future by drafting stupidly (bad pick trades and reaching) and in free agency. |
Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
The skins were never real bidders, they can't afford Flacco or foles. People need to realize it's going to be Kyler or Daniel Jones as QB1 come Sept.

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Never say never. This situation reminds me of the salary cap penalty years of 2012-13 (obligatory fuck John Mara) where we lost 18 million each year. With the increase of the cap every year the percentages lost were way worse in 2012/13. Salary cap 2012: 120.6mil 2013: 123 mil 18 mil penalty each year: 15 percent of the cap in 2012 14.6% of the cap in 2013. --------------------------------------- Est. salary cap for 2019: 191 mil Alex Smith cap hit 20.4 mil 10.6% of the cap to AS. Schneed will probably clean up my math here in a bit, but I don't think I'm way off the actual percentages. If we release AS that number goes way up because the rest of his guaranteed money adds to the cap hit. Will it hurt? Definitely. Is it crippling? No, because we can still trade our next 3 first rounders for Kyler Murray :D. |

I don't think doing a due diligence is end of the world. Maybe Flacco wanted to stay in the DC/Baltimore area. With our current qb situation it's dumb not to check any potential players. |
Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
How about a TE......TE's are becoming an important piece of today's offence.

I agree, big difference between putting out a feeler for a player and actually making a push to trade for him. |
Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
I wouldn't be shocked if Flacco does well with the Broncos. Made a home run hire in Munchak as their OL coach who will greatly improve the pass protection. When Flacco has time to throw, he can do some damage. He will also greatly benefit from their new QB friendly system (Kyle Shannahan's).

Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
What is the cap hit if we cut Jordan Reed and his $9.7M salary? He is 5% of our cap and it is a 100% chance he will be hurt next year.

$3.6 million dead cap hit.... and about $6 million dollar savings |

So the choice of cutting a concussion prone TE that cannot block and misses more games than not or an athletic ILB that played through injury last year. The decision is easy. I am intrigued to see Brown and Rueben Foster play together in behind our formidable Dline. |

He played through injurys last year and it affected his play. Plus he did not have another athletic ILB playing next to him like he will this coming year. He led the team in tackles in 2017 when healthy. I know some have their panties in a bunch about him speaking out against our coaching. But we all did that. Our coaching needed to get called out. I think it is worth one year to see how they all look on the field playing together. |

Looking forward to see them: OL Geron Christian DT Tim Settle RB Derius Guice CB Joshua Holsey CB Fabian Moraeu TE Jeremy Sprinkle WR Trey Quinn DB Adonis Alexander LB Josh Harvey Clemons Plus what is going to happen to DB Montea Nicholson and his legal issues? Was he cut? If all of these guys come back better that will be huge. The list has a huge quantity of potentially good to great DB’s. Leads to the question of Josh Norman and his huge salary. Would he become expendable and what would his cut hit be? |
Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
According to another less reputable site:
Below is a list of some players who can be cut, and the savings to the team for doing so. Josh Norman: 8.5 million Zach Brown: 5.75 million Vernon Davis: 5 million Chris Thompson: 3 million Stacy McGee: 2.3 million Mason Foster: 2 million Savings: $26.55 million |

And they only need $6 million to sign 2019 draft choices. |

Antonio Brown, anyone? His contract is for like $11-$12 mil a year for 3 years.

AB makes no sense here. None |
Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
AB makes sense in that we have a huge need at WR, the current WR free agent group is pretty ho-hum, and money wise it can work if you give him a new deal. The only part I don't like is giving up picks.

Looks like Landon Collins is going to be available: https://nypost.com/2019/03/05/landon-collins-wont-get-franchise-tag-from-giants/

Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
My wet dream scenario:
- Resign AP - Sign Landon Collins. - Trade our 2nd round pick to Pittsburg for Antonio Brown (plus a player or conditional 2020 pick) - Trade a 3rd round pick plus a conditional 2020 pick (1st to 3rd) to Arizona (based on Rosen's performance) - Draft Hockenson at 15 if he's there. - Kate Upton paying me for sex. *EDIT - @Buffalo_Bob made a great suggestion. |

Re: Offseason starts now: A Redskins players thread
I'd try to make VD take a pay cut before cutting him, but if we can find a nice rookie in the draft go ahead and cut him. This is a good TE draft.

Agreed. I'd have doubt about MF and CT too. But I'd be ok with it. |
