If it was truly the old Snyder he would have traded the farm for Haskins, so at least he learned from that perspective. I can't wait to hear that Vinny interview.

Vinny interview has a ton of great quotes already. Anybody who has listened to Vinny before..the guy doesn't hold back and seems very honest in his answers. The best is under the context of Snyder picking Haskins, Vinny says "if it doesn't work out, it will never be the owner's fault. That's part of the (GM) job, but Snyder will not take the blame for Haskins nor Sweat if it doesn't work out." Yes your right on the not moving up part, Vinny commented this, "knowing Dan, he probably made calls to move up for Haskins because it takes a lot for Dan to "sit still"." freaking hilarious, because Vinny honestly describes Dan within the image all the fans picture him as |

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-how-nfl-teams-should-use-the-skill-sets-of-each-rookie-qb
Haskins comes into the league in a similar position to Jones in that there is a veteran quarterback with starting experience that stands between him and an immediate path to the top spot on the depth chart. Case Keenum will likely get the starter reps to start the offseason, but given Haskins’ first-round pedigree and Keenum’s shaky play in Denver last season, there’s a decent chance Haskins will take the field as the starter at some point this season. Haskins was our second-ranked quarterback heading into the draft, behind just Kyler Murray. As Steve Palazzolo broke down in Haskins’ pre-draft evaluation, though, he is not quite in the same tier as Murray in that his success at the next level will likely be dependent on his supporting cast. One area that is paramount is pass protection, as perhaps more than anyone else at the top of the class, Haskins is dependent on a clean pocket to succeed. His clean-pocket passing grade of 90.4 dropped to 56.7 when pressure got home. Part of that clean-pocket performance was due to how good he was when navigating to his second read, where his 91.5 passing grade on those throws led all quarterback prospects. If the pressure gets home, there is less time for Haskins to hang in the pocket and progress through his reads. Clean pocket quarterback play is stable year to year, and Haskins has shown himself to be among the best in the class when working without pressure. It seems obvious, but the Redskins need to make sure he’s given that clean pocket in order to maximize the play from their first-round selection. Another area where Haskins excelled when at Ohio State was in play action. He completed 81 of his 122 play-action attempts for 1,351 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. Among 120 FBS quarterbacks with at least 50 play-action attempts in 2018, Haskins’s passer rating of 136.3 on such throws ranked second behind only Tua Tagovailoa. Play action wasn’t a large part of the repertoire for the Redskins last season, as Alex Smith used play action on only 21.4% of his dropbacks before his injury (22nd out of 32 qualifying quarterbacks). On those play-action attempts, he saw his completion percentage drop 4.3% from when he didn’t use play action, but his yards per attempt jumped from 6.3 to 8.2 yards per attempt. Among the league-leading offenses in play action rate were the Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs. Play action has proven to be effective leaguewide, and the league’s best offenses are taking advantage. The Redskins should do the same with Haskins. Lastly, it should be noted that Haskins is reunited with Ohio State teammate Terry McLaurin in Washington, and it is hard to get much better than that duo was last season. When targeting McLaurin, Haskins went 34-of- 48 for 650 yards, ten touchdowns and no interceptions, good for a passer rating of 152.8. The Redskins will be hoping that connection continues to yield similar results in the NFL. |

But we know many have said, after the embarrassing last year with the ratings and home games.... Snyder may have told Bruce his strategy isn't working...we need blue chippers. So Old Snyder could be rearing its ugly head again. We will see, but I cant simply say he has learned...yet. I don't know. The young man only has 14 college starts under his belt and the Redskins will have new offensive lineman that need to work together to form a cohesive unit. Pitching him into the fire before he is not near ready could kill his confidence and or get him hurt. He will have to adapt to the speed of the NFL game and the complexity of NFL defenses. |

It absolutely makes a difference. It means if Haskins ever has a disagreement with Gruden, he can walk past Gruden's office and take his beef to Dan. It means it can undermine the respect other players have for Haskins if they know he's bff's with Dan. Not Doug Williams, not Bruce Allen, and especially not Dan Snyder. Did you literally learn nothing from the RG3 fiasco? |

Re: Dwayne Haskins
It's pretty simple: Owners should do ownership things, management should do management things, coaches should do coaching things, and players should do player things (accept coaching and execute the coaches plays/calls on the field).
If any of these things mix together, it's not good. A successful business needs structure/chain of command. A broken chain is a broken business/team. |

The owner empowered him to walk into Shanahan's office at the beginning of his second year and state emphatically he wasn't running certain plays anymore. The plays he would no longer run were the ones he was best at. They were the ones which got Pierre open by 8 yards. The owner allowed him to be the offensive game planner only because of their relationship. I really can't tell if you're serious or hard core trolling because it's so obvious. Well it did happen in 2013. And the coach wasn't incompetent or a failure, he has two super bowl rings. You're sticking up for Haskins when the concern is really about Dan. Any player's natural reaction is to reciprocate if the owner befriends him. All of the blame for 2013 is with Dan and his enabling of Robert. Nobody is saying or reporting anything is going on between Haskins and Dan. There are insinuations that Dan has some sort of special interest in Haskins, or relationship with Haskins. It could be a problem if a player has more power than is healthy for the situation. Rodgers' and Brady's power dynamic is and should be different than Rosen's and Dalton's. The owner is the one person who can screw it all up. |

As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm concerned with any of these players or the coaches punk ass feelings. If our success or failure rate depends on the players or coaches feelings then we might as well start rebuilding right now. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what any of them feel they still got a job to do. No matter what the coaches think of Haskins I fully expect them to work with him and help him become the best he can be. Regardless of what Haskins thinks of the coaches or the scheme he has a responsibility to the team to execute the offense to the best of his abilities. The same thing goes for every player on this team. |

While I'm not biggest fan of Gruden, he did a great job of righting Redskins ship after he became Redskins coach and because of that he will always have my respect. I actually believe there's a good chance of this.. Redskins is building a great defense (on paper) and we have a good RBs group, this definitely will help Haskins or Keenum greatly this year. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
I have to question something I read in that MMQB article... “Watched every game, every throw that they made, how they handled themselves under pressure,” Gruden said. Probably one of the primary question marks on Haskins coming into the NFL is his ability to play under pressure from a defense. He's excellent when getting through his progressions but awful when forced to make a quick read and get the ball out. I love the idea that Haskins was the guy the whole time, but don't BS me.. If Gruden was specifically targeting a QB who handles himself so well under pressure, I'm not sure Haskins is the guy you're going after. Also.. “They’re all pretty confident kids, bright-eyed. I was impressed with the entire class,” Gruden said. “But [Haskins] has a demeanor and aura about him, kind of similar to Cam Newton coming out, just an aura of confidence." WTF, Cam Newton looked like a man among boys. Haskins does not, at this point, have the confidence Cam Newton had coming into the league. I'm optimistic about Haskins but this article sounds like a lot of revisionist history BS to me..
