It'd be a hard sell for me to give up Sweat, but if we were bidding against another team I'd consider it.

We all thought it was insane how much the Rams gave up for Stafford but I doubt any Rams fan gives a shit considering they're still playing in two weeks.

Wilson puts us in contention to compete now into the playoffs, Payne/Sweat/Young simply do not. If Russ is willing to come here, whatever it takes to get him.

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1

McDaniels obviously hasn't fully committed to him at this stage, but has said some quite positive things about Carr. I suspect like Gruden before him, he'll look at QB as not a priority to upgrade even if they actually need an upgrade. Unless someone offers them something stupid (Stafford type deal) I doubt Carr is going anywhere.

MTK 02-01-2022 12:23 PM

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1

Yeah I don't see Carr going anywhere either. Who are they going to replace him with that would be an upgrade? Plus coming off a playoff season why blow things up if you don't have to?

They should just get rid of the Rooney rule all together

After reading that article sounds like Flores has a legit gripe. I don't doubt this is a good ol' boys club, reminds me of the "investigation" into the WFT that was reduced to an oral report. NFL clearly has plenty to hide.

This is legitimately gonna be a shit show.

Check the text messages from BB to Flores (screenshots here), BB knew Daboll got the job before Flores even interviewed. That means the Giants just interviewed Flores to pass the Rooney Rule requirement.

And the revelation that Ross offered 100g for every game Flores lost back in 2018? That's LITERALLY tanking. And the fact that the owner of the team offered it to the HC is inexcusable. Every fan who paid for merch or went to the game that year has a legitimate gripe.

Flores killed his NFL career for this, I'm looking forward to seeing what other dirt is under the rug.

Who else interviewed for the Giants HC job? 2 other black candidates…so the Giants interviewed more black men than white.

The Flores interviewed for the Bronco’s job after Vance Joseph had lead the team for 2 years had been fired after going like 10-23.

The tanking shit is serious…I get it, but I don’t think that’s discriminatory.

I don’t think Flores did a bad enough job to be fired, but just prepare yourself for a lot of bullshit tomorrow that will conveniently leave facts out and provide zero context.

ESPN has us offering our 2022 First Round pick and our 2023 4th rounder for Derek Carr. I could see us doing that and I would not have a problem with it.

I watched a good bit of Carr this year and he has stepped up his game. I’d def trade for him.

Really surprised if Josh Mcdumbass would get rid of him, who the eff would he get to replace him?

If all it takes is a 1st and a 4th for Carr I'd definitely do that, but I don't see them dealing him unless they are just intent on blowing it all up. And if they do deal him, hard to imagine the price being that low.

I would too...but why would they do that? I feel like they hired Josh in part because they think he could pick up from where they left off last season and improve the offense to be even better.

The same article also proposes Derek Carr, Johnathan Abram, and a 2022 second-rounder for Russell Wilson and a 2022 fifth-rounder.

I would rather take that deal if I were LV.

From what I read elsewhere (maybe in the Athletic) Vegas is one of Russell Wilson's preferred destinations if he is moved. So Vegas is looking to move on from Carr.

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1

Carr would make this team a playoff team in the NFC. Brady retired. Even if Rodgers goes back to GB it is a weaker team than they were this year (will still runaway with that division). The Rams will have regression to the mean. Cupp isn't going to have a career year over and over. SF is solid but flawed. The Cowboys have their own cap issues.

He's won 1 of 4 playoff games in his career. You good stretch to saying he's a franchise QB, and best in division right now. But given the talent around him I wouldn't peg him above Carr right now, and I'd rather see them play in the same division for a season before saying Dak was best. I don't think Carr is coming here, but if he does, I for one would be happy we had one of the 2 best QB's in the division.

If we got Carr or Wilson, and Samuel is healthy, we're winning the division in 2022.

I doubt we get either, but Samuel needs to play. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that for whatever reason, this just wasn't his year.

In general, I just don't see Raiders ditching Carr. Teams don't usually get rid of top 10-15 QBs.

He’s a choker, watched him for years. Rather have Garoppolo for less (he’s a choker too).

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1

So here is where we are for QBs so far:
Aaron Rodgers-choker
DeShaun Watson-bad optics for a team in front of congress for sexual abuse to bring in a QB with 22 women accusing him of sexual abuse
Derek Carr-Choker
Jimmy Garoppolo-He's bad
Russell Wilson-This seems to be the general Commanders Post favorite
Draft a QB-Bad Batch
Mitch Trubisky-Not enough alcohol to numb the pain

IMO every single one of them probably makes us a better offense that what we had last season. Even Mitch.

Yep, that's where we're at. Do literally anything at QB and this is a better team. Just like they would have been had Fitz remained healthy all season.

The course of action I would prefer is to bring in a Veteran free agent QB, and then draft the best QB on the board at 11.
