If you had to pick Mitch or TH who are you taking???
That is a close call IMO
I can't take another season of TH as a starter. He has heart but everything else is so below average including the very important game IQ |
Seriously, if either of those guys are the week 1 starter I'm finding something better to do with my Sundays.
I confess unless it is raining or a prime time I don't watch. The fall and early winter are the best times to be outside on the East Coast can't waste one of my free days indoors. |
I'll watch because its week 1 lol but surely we will do better than those 2 guys right???? For the folks saying "Mitch could be a Tannehill" Yeah I do agree with that but do we really want a game manager again? I want a gunslinger dammit
We have to. Ron's job is on the line and he knows it. There has to be a splash. |

That is a close call IMO
Mitch, and not that close to me. Heinicke is a low ceiling player. This year would look just like last year. |
Re: 2022 veteran QB options
TH or MT will get you similar results. Neither one is good enough, end of story.

How are they going to do better? No one is knocking down the door to come here. The only way they do better is through the draft. |

Winston would be better than TH or MT |

Winston is a much better passer than MT will ever be. |

That's not what the stats say. Winston has a couple years on Mitch, but that is about the only thing he has on him. |

MT is basically a one read kind of QB, you really have to scheme things up for him and define his reads. JW was running a pro style offense in college. I'd take JW all day over MT. |
Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Gut says Winston goes to Steelers.
Draft a QB at 11 + sign a Trubisky or Winston = most likely result. Winston led the league in passing yards in 2019 (5,109 yds, 33 TDs). Pro style QB, limited mobility. Trubisky won 11 games, 7.4 pass yds/att and a 71 QBR in 2018. (Heinike had a 39.9 QBR last year as context) Hopefully we can get a Winston or Trubisky, they might want to go elsewhere. |

JW was running a pro style offense in college. I'd take JW all day over MT.
Also WInston has a cannon and can stretch the field, he's just not mobile at all. MT doesn't have the arm but he has the legs.. |
MT is basically a one read kind of QB, you really have to scheme things up for him and define his reads.
JW was running a pro style offense in college. I'd take JW all day over MT.
It's not a no brainer for me, but I think I would prefer MT. JW was less mobile before he tore his ACL. He may have a better arm, but I don't think it's significantly better. He's never had a winning season and he turns the ball over too much. Haven't watched MT play a whole lot, but for his lack of experience (basically one year starting in college) he has fared pretty well. I've seen people say that the Bears' 2018 season was a success because of their defense, but MT did pretty well that season too: 11-3 record 66.6 completion % 3223 passing yards 24 TD/12 INT That's not too bad for a young inexperienced QB in his 2nd year - taking his team to the playoffs. Here's PFF's draft profile for him: Despite being a one-year starter, Trubisky is very polished as a passer playing with good balance and consistent mechanics, which leads him to throw with great accuracy in the short/intermediate passing game. Although he comes from a version of the spread in his college offense, he was asked to do many full field progressions and showed he can click from receiver to receiver quickly and efficiently. Has very good pocket instincts and ability to keep eye level up to see receivers down the field while moving within the pocket. His three-quarters release may lead to more batted balls at the LOS but is likely not a huge issue at the next level. Will need to work on hitting his deep shots with more consistent accuracy to keep defenses from sitting at the break point. Shows all of the tools to develop into a very solid NFL starting quarterback and appears to be the safest option of the 2017 quarterback draft class. I think MT has more upside at this point than JW, and is only going to get better. JW has 77 NFL starts - we know who he is. MT has 50 NFL starts, and quite honestly has looked like the better QB despite his lack of starting QB experience when he arrived in the NFL. |
Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Chief, you got that MT Jersey on pre-order? I’m ok with either MT or JW
Just no Jimmy G who is under going shoulder surgery and will not be able to throw until summer. There is no way in hell I want Jimmy G. |
Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Amazing how not playing a year takes some of the tarnish off a guy. We could have signed MT a year ago on the cheap but instead went with a 38 year old Fitzpatrick.

This time around is a little different for him. I'm not advocating for JW, just saying I'd take him over MT, if all other options are off the table. |

Why not? 2 second phone call I imagine. --------------------------- |

I did hear that the QB search started with 42 QBs on their list - and that they reached out to every team to inquire about a quarterback’s availability and the cost, and their list consisted of 42 quarterbacks. |

Re: 2022 veteran QB options
What are you paying these guys?
These guys want to start and get paid so they will be expecting starter money. Wentz made $32m last year. Jimmy G made $28m. Get the rookie and stack the line. |

Go get a mlb and a safety in free agency and or the draft. Pray that McKissic n LT stay healthy and win a bunch of games. |

Cousins is better than Foles and Sam tho, he's consistently putting up top 15 numbers. Foles was a 1 hit wonder |

Would rather Winston than Mitch and it aint even close. Would rather him than Jimmy G too - especially when u take into account the give back. Im actually intrigued with Winston.

Say what you want about Foles but he is a SB champion, something Cousins will never be. |
