This is a funny tweet from Bobby Wagner:

Bobby Wagner
@bwags
very excited for all-pro NFL linebacker Bobby Wagner to sign with a team so I can finally stop getting 20 tweets an hour from people telling me I should come to their city

:lol:
That is good. Hell, it's probably more than 20.

Yeah I'm glad we're out on that guy. Super talented obviously, but big issues there.

Yeah after seeing all of this its clear he's a Me guy... Houston is letting him go for a reason. Hell of a player but prob not worth all that baggage.

Re: Free Agency Around the NFL Style

A big issue for the Panthers in the Deshaun Watson negotiations was his representatives wanted the team to guarantee the third and fourth years of his contract, which the team wouldn't do, per league source.

They basically went back to him with a virtual blank cheque. So it had nothing to do with finding the "right fit". I am shocked. Carolina must be crying in their beer, I cant believe Tepper would ever have been outbid if he knew it just came down to money

And here's the tweet

@RapSheet
Deshaun Watson plans to waive his no-trade clause to the #Browns, sources tell me and
@TomPelissero
. Yes, the Browns!!

Trade compensation still to be finalized with the #Texans, but Watson has made his choice: He expects to go to Cleveland.

There's nothing to be shocked, other than Houston's willingness to trade him within conference, but they are in rebuilding mode.

Browns have the more complete roster compared to the Panthers and Falcons, maybe you can make a case for the Saints. Also, $$ talks as well.

@ProFootballTalk
The Browns were out of the running for Deshaun Watson. And then they offered him a five-year, $230 million deal that is fully guaranteed at signing.

He changed his mind when he found out Cleveland has massage parlors on every other corner.

All he needs is the tv special to make this complete.

"No, I don't want to go to Cleveland. It's gotta be the right fit - I want a team that's playoff ready and only needs a qb. It's about more than money."

"Deshaun, they're offering $230 mil guaranteed over 5 years"

"That's exactly what I'm looking for!"

Im thinking if Atlanta or one of the teams he wanted offered what the Browns did he would have gone there was the thing. He had his preferences. Nothing wrong with that. Another team threw him several millions more dollars so he settled on that team - nothing wrong with that.

Carson Wentz has a chance to be a top 5 QB in the NFC this year.

Brady
Rodgers
Dak
Stafford
Wentz

That’s my top 5

By stats he almost would have been top ten in the NFC last year, so it is definitely possible.

This Baker situation is going to be interesting to watch.

I believe the Browns are going to be lowballed by interested teams, since everyone knows they can't keep him.

I like Baker, I hope he goes somewhere and balls out.

That would suck losing your job to Tuggy, after being a No. 1 overall pick.

I wondered before (with my tinfoil hat firmly in place) if washington would have gotten him, would the nfl have suspended him after the transaction more harshly than had he gone to another team.

Kinda crazy to think Watson coulda sexually harassed and assaulted…gets rewarded with a 236 million guaranteed contract.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33556358/cleveland-browns-say-team-did-extensive-inquiry-deshaun-watson-completing-trade

The Browns didn't provide specifics of their investigation. They also didn't speak to any of the 22 women who have filed civil lawsuits against Watson and accused him of sexual assault and sexual misconduct, according to their attorney.

"The Browns organization did not reach out to me. I didn't expect them to do so, and can understand why they didn't. But, knowing what I know, they probably should have," attorney Tony Buzbee told ESPN.

But don’t worry folks, they did extensive research

Innocent until proven guilty, unless innocent and we don't believe it, then still guilty anyways.

Let Watson live his life.

And hopefully Baker finds a spot where he can become the franchise QB.

Extensive research lol.

"Did you do it?"

"No."

"Great! How does the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history sound?"

The more disgusted you appear to be with Watson on the internet the greater the chance you have been to a rub n tug, or done something terribly sleazy with a girl or two or twenty. Lol.

You talk about the real World, when you're part of the NFL you live in their World! 22 Women, 22 lawsuits , ...how much suspension? Face it he gets 230 million and each accuser will get a million he still walks away with 200 million plus but how much suspension will he get?

That's a good question. Since he didn't play last year but wasn't technically suspended, I would assume the NFL would issue something. But this is a pretty unique situation so I have no clue how it will play out.

he has a 1mill base salary (for 2022), those forfeited paychecks will not matter at all. any suspension would just be a free vacation.

BTW welcome back That Guy, nice to see some older names back here again.

This is just the 7th layer in this 20 layer cake of "why talent trumps everything in the NFL" - they literally structured his contract in anticipation of the expected punishment so Watson can get around that too.

On one hand, the NFL obviously does so much trying to promote the game to women, with Breast Cancer Awareness month and all the other outreach they do.

Then they shoot their selves in the foot when a team does the single-highest guaranteed contract in the history of the NFL to a player with 22 sexual harassment/assault allegations against him. How do you expect to gain female fans when teams show their words are just hollow.

So glad we passed on this one and/or he didn't want us.

We have a very male perspective on this NFL out reach I'd love to know more on what females think about it. Anecdotally I know my wife can't stand the NFL and doesn't watch it any more. She returned for a brief moment when Ray Rice was shit canned for domestic abuse and then the following seasons the NFL started going soft and giving slap on the wrists and she was out again.
