IMO I would say Harris and Vance are far more fit for the presidency than Biden and Trump. Vance is interesting.,. He has kind of given up his “hillbilliness” and become a huge advocate for Silicon Valley I guess he discovered as a politician the rich elite can offer him something the people of Ohio can’t

It's just weird that the apparent best choices were 2 VP candidates that have openly said terrible things about their presidential nominee.

If Trump wins, Vance will get cooked by Trump just like Pence was. I wouldn't want to be his VP if I had any future presidential aspirations.

Hey, it's a 2024 Presidential election so obviously this was the right thread. The Venezuelan Presidential election is 28 July and polls have the opposition up by 40%. My predictions is Maduro pulls it out and "officially" wins 52-48%. We won't talk about the actual unofficial count.

To be fair the Dems and left do as well 2000 and 2016 for example. Yeah, it's not to the same level. And sometimes cheating (unorganized) does effect extremely close elections (Norm Coleman / AL Franken), which is why I do support ID requirements.

If they win, the system is working perfectly thanks to the vigilant awareness of millions of conservatives watching the election with a hawk eye to prevent democrats cheating. But they need to pass stringent ID/signature/whatever laws to prevent as many dem votes from ever counting again.

Well, I called the Venezuela election accurately. But I'll admit that was a gimme. The opposition was up only 40 points Saturday when they needed to be up about 900 pts and have an army of their own to back that up. Guess we'll get another 500k-1.5m Venezuelan asylum seekers over the next 5 years.

That’s why — in the face of increasing threats to America’s democratic institutions — I am calling for three bold reforms to restore trust and accountability to the court and our democracy.

First, I am calling for a constitutional amendment called the No One Is Above the Law Amendment. It would make clear that there is no immunity for crimes a former president committed while in office. Second, we have had term limits for presidents for nearly 75 years. We should have the same for Supreme Court justices. It would reduce the chance that any single presidency radically alters the makeup of the court for generations to come. I support a system in which the president would appoint a justice every two years to spend 18 years in active service on the Supreme Court.

Third, I’m calling for a binding code of conduct for the Supreme Court. This is common sense. The court’s current voluntary ethics code is weak and self-enforced. Justices should be required to disclose gifts, refrain from public political activity and recuse themselves from cases in which they or their spouses have financial or other conflicts of interest. Every other federal judge is bound by an enforceable code of conduct, and there is no reason for the Supreme Court to be exempt.

All three of these reforms are supported by a majority of Americans — as well as conservative and liberal constitutional scholars. And I want to thank the bipartisan Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States for its insightful analysis, which informed some of these proposals.

We can and must prevent the abuse of presidential power. We can and must restore the public’s faith in the Supreme Court. We can and must strengthen the guardrails of democracy.

Joe Biden, who has spent his whole life grifting off of U.S. taxpayers, all of the sudden wanting term-limits on anyone is beyond rich. What a shock, didn't hear him mention anything about term limits for U.S. Senators.

And there is a very specific reason why supreme court justices serve for life. But let's just ignore that fact.

That being said, I'm all for ratifying the Constitution to put in term limits for supreme court justices if you can get 75% of the states to vote for it.

Does that mean he will get constitutional amendments passed, no but he can bring them to the forefront of the discussion and set a tone.

As for his actual points I do think age caps for all politicians makes a lot of sense, but 18 year terms for SC is too short. Maybe 25 years but you want consistency in the court not constant turnover.

I think a constitutional amendment that brought sane term limits to every political political and government office is something this country definitely needs. It should address the Senate the house the Supreme Court and even government bureaucracy jobs. No one should be living off the government dole for life.

Yeah, if you're putting term limits on the supreme court, you absolutely should have term limits for congress as well. Maybe congress can show some leadership and pass that for themselves 1st. But they ain't going to vote against their own self-interests.

I love the Constitution, so I will support every amendment that is legally passed, even if I don't initially agree w/ the actual amendment itself before it passes.
