Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Sounds like with our first pic we could go BPA or QB and still work on the O line through out the remainder of the draft
How does this offensive line class stack up to the past few years? Kiper: There is legit All-Pro talent at the top of Round 1, and there's enough to depth to find rookie starters on Day 2. It's a really solid group, though it might not reach the eight first-round linemen we saw in 2022 (there were five in 2023). Left tackles Olumuyiwa Fashanu (Penn State) and Joe Alt (Notre Dame) could be top-10 picks. Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State) and Amarius Mims (Georgia) are right tackles with high upside. I also see Troy Fautanu (Washington) as an elite guard prospect. And that's just five of the very best of the class; if I listed all the guys I liked you'd probably stop reading. This would easily be the best draft in the history of sports. It's beyond absurd. The options for trades is cool, but their trade feature isn't anywhere close to reasonable. |

Yeah, I'm tempted to try and experiment to get all 32 2nd or 3rd round picks via trades. And next on the clock are the Washington Commanders And next on the clock are the Washington Commanders And next on the clock are the Washington Commanders And next on the clock are the Washington Commanders And next on the clock are the Washington Commanders ... |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
It’s going to be interesting if we end up at 3.
Harrison may go number 2 so we could be in play for everyone else besides Caleb. This issue is, is Alt the LT from ND worth the 3rd pick? Is Drake Maye better than SH? Is Daniel’s better than SH? It’s going to be interesting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s going to be interesting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/quote] I'd say it becomes interesting if we manage the #2 pick. If we're #3, for both the top 2 teams its virtually nailed on they will go QB. Then picking a QB at #3 will be a huge reach, especially if we have SH in the house and the new regime isn't averse to keeping him as the starter. But #2 would create a bit of a dilemma. |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I think picking #2 overall is within the realm of possibilities. If that happens, we basically have the option of picking 1 of the top two QBs.
I don't think we can end up with the #1 overall pick, and if we pick anywhere in the top 5, our options will depend which team ends up with the top 2 picks. Example: I can see Arizona sticking with Kyler (they have a lot of money tied up on him) and wanting to trade down. |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Man if we have a high pick and the new FO likes someone we can get lower in the draft giddy up!

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I think it is safe to say that without a doubt we are in line for either Alt or Fash. We absolutely need to nail down LT for the next decade.

For now. The possibility exists we get into the top 3 and if real fortunate #2. In that scenario really have to consider QB and WR. That said I think it is a bigger possibility we fall to pick 7-9, I expect to beat the Jets and our SOS is higher than many of the other teams that will likely end up 5-12. in which case we fall out of position for the 2 tackles. |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I've looked at Drake Maye and I don't think he's superior to Sam Howell in any way. He is simply a couple of inches taller.
IMHO, Marvin Harrison, Jr. may well be the best player in the draft. He truly has it all. Nevertheless, if we end up picking third and either one of the top two QBs or Harrison is on the board, I wouldn't mind if we traded down a spot or two and picked up one of the top two OTs and another high second round pick. |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Draft Harrison, use extra picks to trade back up into the 1st to get a LT. Similar to when we drafted Sweat.
|
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I like Joe Alt with the first round pick.
|
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Fashanu has the better chance to be Trent Williams. Alt has the higher floor. IMO. I'd be happy with either one.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I hope they DO NOT draft Caleb Williams. TOO MANY red flags with that guy. You can see the cracks in his personality and his game. Basically his game is drop back, run around and make shit happen. Kinda like Kyler. Works fine against Pac 10 defenses. He isn't disciplined enough right now. Penix looks way better as a pro prospect.
Watch, he is going to fall down the draft board and when he does he'll go crying into mommies arms again. |

Off field issues and flags reman for Williams and when he does the “look at me” bullshit then you can’t be mad when folks call it out. We saw it recently with Haskins and CY If you want to stick to the field, then admit Caleb Williams wilted this year and didn’t deliver. He was outplayed by Bo Nix and Penix in his conference and couldn’t lift a very talent USC team in the PAC 12. |

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Watched Caleb live a handful of times at OU. He’s special, he makes throws that most QBs can’t make. He’s also tougher than people think, he takes and delivers hits.
If we are at number 2 and he’s there I wouldn’t pass him up. The Risk Reward is too high to pass a potential Elite QB up. Sam Howell is a good player but what’s his ceiling? Baker Mayfield? Caleb could be a Hurts, Rodgers type Guy. I know we need alot but we also need a face of the future. Something to look at Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
IF we want Caleb we probably need to trade with the bears, which makes me think trading CY and MS was too load more ammo into that trade gun to give to the bears.
Shit we could have even said give us a 2nd for MS and we are going give it right back to you at the draft. |

1. Maye
2. Penix or Daniels (can't decide who I like more. 2 completely different styles. Hell, then even throw w/ different hands) 4. Williams I like to do my crying in the privacy of my own home by myself lol. Haven't got around to painting my nails yet. That seems a little too fetch for me. Also, LOL, at "I don't care if the QB wears a thong". Good one. |

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
What's more important the System or the player ? Does anyone think Dak is a top
Level QB? Hurts is a solid QB but they can't go but so far giving up points like they did to Dallas .. Purdy was last player in draft selection .Bryce Young first player selected..Sam played Big time college Ball and has seen everything the NFL has to this point . His supporting cast is dismal and still he has showed great potential.. If we had used a number one pick on him would we be talking about yet another number one pick QB ?? Let's take a page out of San Fran and build a team around the QB and give him a chance .. We never ever seem to learn .. Right now who would you pick Bryce Young or Purdy ?? There is no way this team can afford a swing and miss with our top pick .. and it's at best a 50/50 gamble with a QB .. What is it that Sam can't do ?? He can Run .. he has enough arm strength to throw it deep .. he is tough as nails .. his team mates love him .. he is coachable .. yes he has struggled but what QB wouldn't with the WORST Oline in league .. and always playing from Behind because we have WORST D in league.. AND WORST coaching staff in league ... yea that is a blueprint for success 😳. If we don't Upgrade significantly the Oline and get TE and won't matter if we have the number one overall pick .. |

Agree but the OG poster was saying CY was a show off; I was simply saying i didn't get that vibe from him As far as living up to being a 2nd pick overall; yes he has failed at that |
