Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Of course we need a 3rd TE over a starting LT
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
TE was the first pick where I feel they reached a lil bit, but Keim said they would get a TE early to learn under Ertz and play in 12 personnel.
Oh crap, Patrick Paul gone OT
Can't believe the te pick over him tbh |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Extra picks don't mean crap if you waste them picking 1 round too high and neglect your gaping goles
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Field Yates looks like he got a coke habit…bad

LOL, there's no starting LTs on the board there... KState fan here. He's legit. Cooley & then some. |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Reach
He's not a reach he was generally ranked between 50-60. |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
From CBS
"Ben Sinnott TE, KSTATE Height: 6-4, Weight: 245 A+ Grade Love this pick. Athletic, explosive athlete. Clearly the second-best receiving TE in this class. YAC skill is outstanding. Strong hands. Just not a true burner down the seam. Will be a go-to target for Jayden Daniels. (Chris Trapasso)" From Walter Football Washington Redskins: Ben Sinnott, TE, Kansas State – D Grade The Redskins needed a tight end, but this is a reach. We slotted Ben Sinnott in the Round 3-4 range. This isn’t an egregious reach, but the Redskins could have gotten Sinnot or a similar tight end later." |

Hell of a highlight reel. Still a reach there. Hope it works out for us. Will definitely be happy we took him if something happens to Ertz. |
LOL, there's no starting LTs on the board there...
Well, I would argue it is possible to get a starting LT I. The mid 2nd round if done right with a bit of time. If Paul becomes an LT, I hope you remember we decided to get an ok TE instead, leaving a gaping hole for us to go through a 4th skins QB to end their career by a broken leg |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Ravens just took rosengarten another OT, yeah the ravens Front office sucks, no chance of an OT starting, according to the fricken ravens, ugh. We missed bad

A starting OT now, vs a starting OT eventually, are two very different things. There are still plenty of hopeful (eventually) starting OTs left on the board Sinnot is a starting TE now. |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
And there it is ove . Suamatia is the last viable LT, he is now gone. We had 3 chances to get an OT and said, nah, we need a 4th DT

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I don't know how anyone can spin this. Getting a QB was a given. The main goal was to get a LT. Massive failure
I don't know how anyone can spin this. Getting a QB was a given. The main goal was to get a LT. Massive failure
I'm pretty sure the backup plan has and will be to get a veteran tackle in the 2nd wave of free agency.
Let's give our new front office the benefit of the doubt. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk |

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
No fucking OL so far has been a major disappointment. These assholes are never going to learn.
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Well... hope JD beefs up b4 the season in 4 MONTHS....
Lovely. |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Yay at ot, but they just said he was a zero star recruit out of high school?
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
He's no longer in High School. Not sure that matters much.
Edit: He didn't start playing on the offensive line until his senior season in High School, then he spent two years playing in Community College, where TCU coaches discovered him and offered a scholarship in 2020. |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I would have rather had one of the top 4 lbs in the draft frankly

DONE! |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Finally. An OG is taken. Love the pick. Wished that TE spot in the 2nd could have been an OL as well.
|

Good! I'm expecting nothing but positive comments from here on out! lol |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
OK guess it will be an hour or two before we finish of the round with our next pick. Be back then.
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Well now that the big picks are done, I am quite underwhelmed to say the least. A moron could have picked Jayden, and the rest? Unless I am wrong and I sure hope I am. I see a lot of low floor, low ceiling players. High end backups or average starters or rotational pieces. How many starters do you see outside of Jayden?
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
We needed 5 starters out of our 6 round 1-3 picks, we got 1. Here's the positive part. I think we finally got a franchise QB!

Literally 4 Jayden- Starting QB Newton- Can definitely be a staring DT, had a top 20 grade by multiple experts Sinnot- I mean look at our TEs then look at his tape Mike S.- We dont have a nickel corner, havent had a good one since Fuller in 2017, and he was the best one in the draft Coleman is the only non immediate starter or someone who could start if need be so far |

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
There were better corners and guards available.
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I guess they didn't see it that way.

They will. There were better wr’s available too. That last pick was a huge reach. I don’t think these players are bad but they are taking them too soon. Corner, G, WR. All head scratchers |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
The draft reads to me... like it will be a pass heavy, RPO and quick read game like 2012. Pray for JD5.
|

The Corner was rated slightly higher than we took him so not a reach. Some assessments have Sinnot in the 50 range some have him lower - so I'll say a minor reach. |
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I think the one big error they made on day 2 was Drafting Sinnot where they did. Given no other TE was picked until a full round later I think Sinnot could have been picked up at pick 67 which would have allowed us to get a better tackle at pick 53.
|
Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
As always only time will tell but as things stand now I feel like there were better players available at at least 3 of the picks today who also filled more pressing needs. Cooper Dejean should be a commander. I hated that trade. And they BETTER upgrade at OT in the next round of FA or they better play their backup qb this year.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
^^^ agreed its not looking good at all for the o line.. everyone holding their collective breath right now.. putting down the peters Kool aid for a few months til it all either does or doesn't come to fruition. I like the outlook for the defense, and the offense minus the o line. It's starting to look like fools gold....... ..... again.
But like you said time will tell. We just cannot fucking have a o line like last year and there just has NOT been a significant upgrade or even CHANCE at a real change yet. |

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I would have probably not done the trade and taken a CB and OT, but until we see them play (and the people they passed on), I'm not going to be super harsh. I feel like they do need to do something at OT (trade or sign someone else's cut). Not a huge fan of instant draft grades. Our roster was bad; if our 2's aren't contributing meaningfully at some point this year, then this draft was a miss.
(for awareness, after the top of the 2nd I haven't watched much prospect tape this year) |
