Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
A few things on this:
1. This was reported a while ago by Keim, I don't know why this is coming out as something new. Go listen to Keim's latest podcast and he talks about how he has reported this a few times in the past and he's surprise everyone thinks this is new..
Heard it speculated that the recent settlement of the Eagles / Cardinals tampering over Gannon led to draft pick compensation to the Eagles, which is why teams are more keen to push the matter if they can get draft capital in compensation. Wouldn't think it would amount to much for a retired player, it is not as if it unsettles their current roster. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Reports: Commanders asked all 32 teams for their quarterbacks, including Patrick Mahomes
Back in 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs realized how important it was to give Patrick Mahomes a long-term deal. That's why the AFC West team offered him a 10-year, $450 million contract to secure an elite quarterback for a decade. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/nfl-report-commanders-desperately-asked-the-chiefs-if-patrick-mahomes-was-available/ar-AA1aSdPJ?ocid=entnewsntp&cvid=192cd11ea08b4b20adb3ef44afea3503&ei=28 For the rest of the league, getting a player like Mahomes is key to succeed. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to find someone like him, so the Commanders decided to stop the search and go straight forward for the Chiefs quarterback. According to John Keim, ESPN's Commanders reporter, Washington asked the entire league if their quarterbacks were available for a trade, including the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. The Washington Commanders have been searching desperately for a franchise quarterback recently. They have explored all options, including calling Andrew Luck, who retired in 2019, to ask him to return and play for them. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
1. Hurts
2. Howell 3. Dak 4. Tranny Dimes |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Just hope Howell will be QB#1 for years to come!
1. Hurts
2. Howell 3. Dak 4. Tranny Dimes
Interesting order, I assume it's wishful thinking rather than belief. I'd be interested in Mooby's order as I seem to remember him putting Hurts 2nd at about this time last year and getting slated for it. Personally I'd have to put Howell last and keep my fingers crossed that I'm hopelessly wrong. ;) |

New rankings for 2023: 1. Hurts 2. Dak 3. Jones 4. Howell Every year presents a new opportunity though, nowhere for Howell to go but up. Hopefully he solves this qb debate until our new owner refuses to pay him and he goes to the Vikings to replace Kirk lol. |

Don't know what to think about Prescott, sometimes he looks unstoppable but other times he looks like garbage. |

Honestly one the real goals I have for next season is to stop this riduculous win steak Jones has been on against us |

Some players can play at an elite level for a year but then they fall off. It's hard to do it sustainably when the league has time to prepare. That's what truly separates the greats. Also agree on Dak, his stats look great on paper but obviously no matter how good he looks in the regular season he/they fall apart in crunch time. |

Agreed, though a step up from the whole D would aid that. More pressure on QB = more potential turnovers (fumbles and INTs) Improved run D = more passing. leading to more INT opportunities DB's with better INT capability = taking more INTs that already occur AND creating more opportunities If we can do all of the above, which we really haven't in a while (and SH can avoid picks and fumbles), we should win way more turnover battles than before. |

Pre-season rankings are like immediate draft grades. But even knowing that, I'd rather be higher than lower. Howell is gonna surprise this year. I'm excited for 2023. |
