I completely understand the desire to do that...I just feel I waste a week of vaca by doing so. I would rather split up the two weeks.
Yes I was spoiled in the Army. I got 30 days paid vacation a year. |
Re: The Never Ending Thread
Yeah I noticed that. But it is a natural reaction to panic.
Not for me it's not...and not for people that can swim. OK, I know I am going to sound rude quake...but seriously, learning to swim is very important. It's VERY easy, you just have to get over your initial fear. I LOVE to swim, and I LOVE the water...that is so because I learned how to swim when I was a kid. I've even won diving contests when I was an early teenager. |

WOW...that is amazing. I guess that's the benefit for owning your ass the other 11 months out of the year huh? |

Ouch! My GF keeps trying to teach me and I am like "I dont wanna learn" I am a lazy ass right now. I need to get out of this phase. Isnt your daughter like 8? |

I would love a 60 day vacation. Shit I will settle for a 6 day vacation. |

My mother used to seriously call me a fish cause I loved the water. I used to help my cousin for free (well for food) by going out into the harbor and help him clean out his lobster traps. Yummy. You can't let fear of ANYTHING win you over. You need to overcome it. You gf is right. This is important to learn, you never know when you might need it. |

I bet...you were probably used to doing nothing, then all of sudden when it was time to work again, it was tough pulling yourself off the sofa? Oh wait...this is for you quake. :D |

lol...when it comes to trying to learn to save your life, yeah, she's right. I bet you could make it a game for you. I would bet she REALLY wants to teach you how to swim, so she'd be willing to do certain things in the bedroom to compensate for your willingness to learn to swim? |

Isnt your daughter like 8?
I'm with you man. I can't swim either. No one in my immediate family can, except my brother who learned when he was like 21. It's kind of embarassing because I'm half Puerto Rican. I love the water and I go to the beach all the time just can't swim. I had some bad experiences. When I was 3 or 4 I nearly drowned. I was passed out, my cousin saw me and saved me basically. I didn't go into a pool for about 7 years. Then I was at a pool party and decided what the hell. But then I broke my ribs in a freak accident in the pool. I've always preferred the ocean to a pool but I would love to get in either and go swimming but I just can't bring myself to lift that second leg |

Oh wait...this is for you quake. :D
No, I was ready to get off of the sofa. The only troublre that I had was finding competitive pay and benefits to go back to work. The messed up thing is that when I got desperate and was willing to take just about anything for a paycheck no one would hire me. They would look at what I had been making previously and my job skills and often told me that I was over qualified. Among those who turned me down were Police depts. and Security jobs. I was like WTF! It all worked out for the best though. |

But Puerto Rican people are the best. ONe of my employees is puerto rican and sometimes he acts like he cant speak English to a customer. It is hilarious then they get mad and he tells the it is a joke. I am the only kid in my immediate family that cant swim. |

I'm not just saying this cause I love to swim, but it's really easy. The fact that you love the water just makes it easier for you than say quake. Once you learn, you'll wonder why you were so afraid. I have taught several people to swim, and they have all said the same thing..."this was much easier than I thought." |

Yes that is the point. Seriously though, are you too good to learn something from a 7 year old? My kids teach me something new almost every day. Age gives you wisdom, not knowledge. There is a fine line between the two. |

Like I said...make it worth your while. Dude, what is so hard about swimming. You blow bubbles out of you nose and mouth while simotaneously kicking your feet and stroking your arms. It works both on top and underneath the water. |
