WFT exercises 5th year option on Daron Payne

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Question why is Payne's 5th year option ($8.529m) more expensive than Vea's ($7.6 million in 2022)? I thought these were based on where they were drafted?

Doesn't it also factor positional pay, on average or something? I don't know. |
LSU did have a big coverup...I posted a huge article on it here not long ago.
Guice wasn't the only POS player they were protecting.
Big money. Coaches making $5M a year or more, and universities making more off football programs than tuition, care about winning and keeping the gravy train rolling, and you thus have tutors do all the schoolwork and fixers that coverup all misdeeds. Remember Carroll the mess he left coming to NFL? Then of course when the shizznit hits fan everyone plays dumb and feigns being apalled. |

Basically Payne met a playing time criteria for a bump that Vea did not. Article lists the criteria and who met what.
Players who have been voted to two Pro Bowls on the initial ballot will receive the same salary as the franchise tag at the position. One Pro Bowl nets the transition tag and players who have reached certain playing time levels — 75 percent of snaps or greater in two of their first three seasons, an average of 75 percent or greater over all three seasons, or 50 percent or greater in each of his first three seasons — will get the average of the 3rd-20th highest salaries at their position. Any other player will get the average of the 3rd-25th highest salaries.
Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Great news with Payne.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
The #Dolphins and Washington Football Team are in agreement on a trade to send guard Ereck Flowers to WFT in a deal involving a swap of late-round picks, sources say. The deal is being finalized. Frees up some money for Miami, while giving Washington an OL to compete to start.
There goes the Guard pick in RD1 |

maybe that means they are planning a draft day trade involving Scherff?! Then i would love this trade!! We would be getting his replacement at a much lower cost and using him as ammo to move up and take QB (Lance or Fields) or LB (Parsons) or ??? |

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
I like it. We basically saved Flowers career, he was horrible in NJ, solid with us.

It's possible but I doubt it. Flowers plays LG so I don't think we acquired Flowers to replace Scherff. |
