Even if absolutely nothing comes out of the Dominion lawsuit, I am thoroughly enjoying what Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham/etc. think about Trump in private. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/tucker-carlson-who-passionately-hates-trump-shows-more-capitol-footage/ar-AA18mt19?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=84da7e85c2a747238e897001df4a81db&ei=15
Im surprised people are surprised by this. I think most are exhausted by Trump in conservative media Also if Democrats are refusing to support Biden publicly to run, I imagine privately in the media, Capitol Hill, etc people are expressing dissatisfaction as well. Tuckers text messages are good, but his footage this week about the Jan 6 lies are the bigger story. -josh hawley running footage was an edited lie, where both Dems and gop were running to a marked location -Buffalo headress guy was escorted by police around the capitol like he was on a toured and allowed to access the senate floor by police -Lied about Barry Loudermilk taking rioters on a reconnaissance mission - video evidence of capitol police standing around in riot gear not doing a thing |

Totally agree. The January 6 committee failed to answer the security questions in general…fbi admitted it had undercover officers in the crowd and they didn’t do anything to stop it, Mayor denied national guard request in a written letter, Pelosi denied more more security for the capitol grounds, Capitol police in riot gear film sitting off to the side not doing a thing while the riot was going on, police causally parading people inside the capitol and around the building and then out the exit. Pelosi statement is already out saying why this footage was with held out from defendants charged…saying it was the security footage and she didn’t have the authority(false as McCarthy had the authority to release it to the media)…we will see if this is a due process issue now. |

Republicans and Child welfare......or not.
https://news.yahoo.com/sarah-huckabee-sanders-paves-way-170820213.html Sarah Huckabee Sanders Paves Way for Child Labor Exploitation The law means the state will no longer have to verify the age of children under 16 before they take a job, which means 14- and 15-year-olds would be able to work without a special permit. The state’s Republican-controlled Senate voted 24-9 last Thursday to send the bill to the governor’s desk. “There is no reason that anyone should have to get the government’s permission to get a job,” said state Sen. Clint Penzo, who sponsored the bill. The new law comes as the Biden administration promised to crack down on child labor violations days after a New York Times investigation exposed the extent to which migrant children are employed in dangerous jobs across the United States. Child labor violations have quadrupled since 2015, according to data from the Department of Labor. Arkansas isn’t the only state that wants to make it easier for employers to hire children. Iowa, Ohio, and Minnesota are also considering bills that would loosen restrictions. The bill in Iowa would allow 14-year-olds to work in meatpacking plants. The Department of Labor announced last month that Packers Sanitation Services had paid $1.5 million in fines for illegally employing over 100 children to clean meatpacking plants on overnight shifts. |

It should be known that they can still be charged with murder just not felony murder. I'd like to see statistics as to what percentage of murders in Maryland are committed by 18-25 year olds. My guess is it is significant. |
Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
Aren't all murders felonies? I believe a felony is anything punishable by more than 1 year of prison time.
|
Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
The way I read it is a felony murder is a murder while a felony was being committed i.e. robbing a bank and then someone getting killed by being hit by the getaway car. I might be wrong. Regardless I think this bill is a bad idea.

Bill To Ban Child Marriage In West Virginia Defeated By Republicans https://news.yahoo.com/bill-ban-child-marriage-west-154957060.html CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A bill that would have prohibited minors from getting married in West Virginia was defeated Wednesday night in a legislative committee. (AP) — A bill that would have prohibited minors from getting married in West Virginia was defeated Wednesday night in a legislative committee. The Republican-dominated Senate Judiciary Committee rejected the bill on a 9-8 vote, a week after it passed the House of Delegates. The vote came shortly after the bill’s main sponsor, Democratic Del. Kayla Young of Kanawha County, testified briefly before the committee. She said that since 2000 there have been more than 3,600 marriages in the state involving one or more children. Currently, children can marry as young as 16 in West Virginia with parental consent. Anyone younger than that also must get a judge’s waiver. “For now, there will be no floor for the age of marriage in WV, endangering our kids,” Young wrote on Twitter after the vote. In a rebuke, Cabell County Democratic Sen. Mike Woelfel reminded the committee after the vote that Wednesday was International Women’s Day. Some of the bill’s opponents have argued that teenage marriages are a part of life in West Virginia According to the nonprofit group Unchained At Last, which seeks to end forced and child marriage, seven states have set the minimum age for marriage at 18, all since 2018. Supporters of such legislation say it reduces domestic violence, unwanted pregnancies and improves the lives of teens. Although recent figures are unavailable, according to the Pew Research Center, West Virginia had the highest rate of child marriages among the states in 2014, when the state’s five-year average was 7.1 marriages for every 1,000 children ages 15 to 17. |

Why Trump is being called out in the Silicon Valley Bank collapse https://news.yahoo.com/why-trump-being-called-silicon-173805604.html .Some Democrats have been blaming Trump-era regulations for Silicon Valley Bank's collapse. .In 2018, Trump signed into law a bill that rolled back provisions in the Dodd-Frank Act and loosened oversight over banks. Sen. Bernie Sanders said SVB's failure is a "direct result" of those rollbacks. .Former President Donald Trump is catching heat for Silicon Valley Bank's collapse. The reason goes back to 2018. On Friday, regulators shut down Silicon Valley Bank following a tumultuous few days of failing to raise capital and a flood of customers withdrawing their funds from the bank. After crypto-friendly Signature Bank shut down on Sunday, as well, the US Treasury, Federal Reserve, and Financial Deposit Insurance Corporation made a controversial move by giving depositors a bailout, vowing to "fully protect" them from any financial losses. Normally, that would only be guaranteed for losses up to $250,000. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle criticized the federal agencies' actions, but some Democrats seized on Trump's rollback of consumer protections in the Dodd-Frank Act in 2018 as a primary contributor to SVB's collapse. The rollback lessened scrutiny for banks with under $250 billion in assets, meaning the landmark, post-financial crisis law would only applied to a handful of big banks. |

In a letter dated March 3 to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the ranking member of the Senate Banking Committee, and nine of his GOP colleagues expressed concern that an ongoing Federal Reserve review may go beyond a 2018 law that eased regulations on smaller banks and “may unjustly increase capital requirements and have a chilling effect on market making activities and availability of financial services.” The letter was timed to coincide with Powell’s testimony last week before Congress and referenced a 2022 speech from Michael Barr, the Fed’s vice chair for supervision, where he discussed the Fed taking a holistic review of capital standards. The letter pushed back against ideas for increasing the buffer that banks are required to hold in reserve to guard against losses, arguing that banks “seem to have weathered the real-life stress test of the COVID-19 pandemic well.” Within days, the banking sector saw the second- and third-largest bank failures in history. |
