Aren't you going to complain about your owner driving prices up Giantone? You complain about Snyder doing it.

You must not have been paying attention to that post.Look up where it is I talk about PSL's and new stadiums and such and see if I don't bitch about the Giants ownership. |

Like who, let's remeber what happens when we ........assume.:laughing-
Let's see, the Giants just paid big bucks for a free safety when they already had one. If you can't do the math on that one, I can. |

Thanks, but the "issues " ...your word not mine are fixable and not a reason of panic(or hope to opponents)for the Giants.Yup they gave up 40 3 times last year lets look at the IR roster for the Giants,Goff will be fine at Mlber, just keeping our D line healthy, plus the addition of Rolle and we win half of what we lost. Please feel free to underestimate wether Rolle can help or not ,please keep telling yourself these things if it helps you sleep better at night.
Actually telling myself that the Giants will suck next year does make me sleep better. And if you think the Giants can make the leap from giving up 40 points 3 times and nearly 30 per game(okay, 26.7 to be exact), good luck with that. Rolle is good but he ain't great, and the Giants just made him the highest paid safety of all time. This is their third defensive coordinator in as many years and I know you threw out Goff's name, but I'm not so sure it's clear who the middle guy is going to be him or Blackburn. These aren't just "fixable"...your word not mine, solutions. |

Many people, and not just people here, are assuming that the Rolle signing signals that Phillips is done.
From.....BBI Notes and Quotes: Safety Antrel Rolle will wear #26 for the New York Giants. Head Coach Tom Coughlin on safeties Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips: “The idea that this is associated with the Kenny Phillips situation is incorrect. We needed to answer some questions in terms of the safety position. This move puts in a position now where we feel this can be a really strong part of our team. We needed to really solidify and help the safety position based on last year’s experience. That’s the reason this objective was so important to us.” Coughlin said that both Rolle and Phillips will play both safety spots. “They’re interchangeable,” Coughlin said. “Both safeties will find themselves in the half (covering half the field), in the middle of the field, down at the line of scrimmage, being involved in covering the lost. Both safeties will be interchangeable in terms of their ability to be multi-functional. Both safeties will be involved in the pressure package.” Coughlin on Rolle: “Antrel is an energetic, very likeable, bubbly young guy who is very, very impressive in terms of his ability, his football knowledge and his desire to learn more and to know more about the game. He really enjoys sitting in the room with a tape on, talking football. He made a very, very favorable impression that way with all of us.” Rolle on how good he think a safety combination of him and Kenny Phillips can be: “The best in the league, hands down. I know what we’re capable of, and I know, as a unit, what abilities we have in order to get things done. It’s going to be up to us to establish that relationship and that chemistry to make sure we’re on the same page and to make sure we’re all one within this secondary. The sky’s the limit for us. We’re definitely going to go out there and make things happen.” |

Fair enough. A quote from WalterFootball I found interesting. "Really? The Giants gave 15 million guaranteed to Antrel Rolle? The same Antrel Rolle who blows coverages and whiffs on tackles? Jerry Reese is a great GM but this move leaves me scratching my head. Was safety such a big need that Reese felt like he needed to overspend by about 7 million in guaranteed money?" Last year your team tried to sign every d-linemen available. The strategy hardly seemed to pay off. I doubt overpaying for Rolle will result in much difference. |

Bet you've been waiting since you guys signed Big Al to use that, haven't you?
Well at least he made a difference on our defense. Andre Carter had his best season as a Redskin, our sack total jumped from 24 to 40, and both London Fletcher and Brian Orakpo had Pro Bowl seasons. I believe this was, in part, directly attributable to Big Al being a beast in the middle. Let's see how Rolle works out for ya. |

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Eh, I don't know - how many good years does Sharper really have left? The guy is what, 34 years old. Don't get me wrong, he's a beast. But I think Gregg Williams system also gave him a lot room to be a true safety, if you will. There's no guarantee that if you bring him here, Sharper still nabs nine picks.
I say we roll with what we got. I wouldn't mind seeing Ryan Clark back, but at the right price.
Sharper (and the Saints as a whole) had a magical year. I agree, at 34 you can't expect much more from him. It's rare for a player to put it all together like that in one great year at his age & make so many big plays. I'm not saying he won't be good next year, but even if he stays in NO, he's highly unlikely to be making sportscenter's highlights much, unless he's getting burnt. |
