Re: How bout it Lavar

For some reason I have feeling that Lavar will be in a Redskin uniform next season.

Especially if he keeps playing the way he did Saturday.

Re: How bout it Lavar

he is on. I will edit this post throughout.

"yes, we had an addittion on saturday at 1:25" "HAD A GIRL" Arlie or harley or soemething like that arrington.

"I didn't believe that she was telling the truth[about her water breaking]"

JT is telling him that he is no running back and he was yelling HOLD ON TO THE BALL and not run run run during the INT.

"108 yards in high school to the house"

"need an offsesaon to exersize not rehab"

"i gave us a little momentum- you know ha haaa. I wasn't being selfish i wanted portis to get that TD"

Where did you relize you just won a playoff game."On the airplane when i started looking around and Joe Theismann gave me a big hug on the airplane"

on the D-line
"the thing that has been the heart and sole of this unit has been our D-line. They have been taking criticism that they didn't deserve. THey come to the game and give an all out effort every week. nothing greater than to see them get their just due. It is showing up in the stats. Its a beautiful thing"

The saliva insident.
"The thing is when you are hollering and screaming a lot of things come out your mouth. If someone spit on me i would first wipe the spit off and then show him why he should have never done it. I know pittman and i don't think pittman would be so calm if sean spit on him. It happened but we are moving on"
"by losing him we had to do most-because you are losing a lot of range- we needed someone to cover almost half way from the field to the sideline. We had to nickel packages to make up for that loss"

on the 6 game streak
" i think the thing we set our mind on as a team was just to play. Not worring about a game in a row, two games in a row. YOu know we didn't want to waste a great opportunity. I said from day one this is a special group of guys and you don't know who will be here year in and year out and we need to take advantage of our opportunities."
"we're gonna be a tough team to deal with"

On wynn and shawn alexander
' like i say- its always gonna be a dawning challange to stop a league MVP- that is like the colts and Patriots last year. we all know what happened. THe patroits played ball played football. Very very dangerous player in shawn. PRobably the best LT in the game outside chris samuels. This team right here the way we playing is gonna see who comes out"

injuries on offense to defense impact
"we are a family. A unit. This whole run we put together. THe O would have to compinsate for lack of success on defense sometimes and all you saw saturday is they are playing the number 1 defense in the league. That doesn't mean they are a weak defense. Clinton is banged up and he is a warrior and he is gonna fight. BRunell is banged up but he still shows he can run for a first down."
"the numebrs weren't there but we did what we need to do. you can only face one number one defense."

Amount of skins fans at tampa
"Well i know this is something our fans have been waiting for for a long time. I can't be surprised because we have the greatest fans ever. Its an unbelievable thing to see the fans at redskins park and i haven't experienced this yet. It kind of seems that the kind of attitude by the fans, media, and people of the city that we are moving toward a magical season something special"

"we talked to sean about that"- JT tells him that to tell sean that he loves him. Congrats on the baby.

Re: How bout it Lavar

I just love this type on banter. Arrington vs Washington; Brunnel vs Ramsey... When all we have to talk about is who is the better player, that means the Skins are still winning football games. I love it!
I'll give you Marty, we were better than average. but as for Marvin, regardless of stats we were incapable of stopping teams when we had to, and that is the true mark of a good or great defense.

As for his production under Marvin? That was as a DE, not a LB, why do you think Marvin moved him to DE? Because he knew he was a liability as a LB. I think we should try and find a way to trade him back to Marty in the offseason, he may be the one guy willing to part with a draft pick for Lavar.
Dude, he played both positions, LB and DE. You are not helping your arguement by not knowing what the hell you are talking about. Under Marvin, the 1 year, we were top 10 maybe 5. LA went to the pro-bowl, with 11 sacks and over 100 tackles. Why did he move him to DE? because he was a beast at rushing the passer!!!. I dont even know why we are having this discussion in the first place. LaVar, Marshall, and Marcus all had one hell of a game. Why do people want to bash a guy after a good game. it makes no sence.

No, I do know what I am talking about, Marvin fought with Lavar over the fact that Lavar didn't want to play DE, he had 11 sacks as a DE, I will say it again you keep quoting stats, did you watch our defense under Lewis? We were incapable of stopping teams late in the game, when a team needed to put a drive together they did so, stats can be very misleading.

Lawerence Taylor was a beast of a pass rusher, let's not get carried away with this Arrington is some kind of pass rushing specialist, what does it matter if you rush from the LB position or DE on passing downs, it's more beneficial to have both, but Lavar was moved to DE because plain and simple Lewis knew he was a liability at LB.

If you have a great LB you don't make him an undersized DE, and visa versa, so there are reasons more than your willing to acknowledge as to why Lewis moved Lavar was to DE.

Lavar had 11 sacks in 1 year as a DE, and has a total of 22 for his carreer, you seem to like stats, do those stats scream pass rushing beast to you?

More ammunition for #56Fanatic and Offiss (have at it fellas, keep it clean, nothing below the belt, let's have a good fight)

December 23, 2002

“I am not a proven pass rusher, lining up as a defensive end, but I am getting blocking schemes designed my way”

“People make a mistake if they compare me to Lawrence Taylor. We're different types of players. My game is based on speed, intensity and quickness. I always get a rap for being undisciplined, but I am a disciplined player. Taylor was more of a pass rush guy. I think I am more of a true linebacker.”

“Playing defensive end out of a three-point stance is a great test.”

http://www.winchesterstar.com/TheWinchesterStar/021125/Sports_skins.asp

“Last year, Arrington thrived while playing a more traditional linebacker position, going to the Pro Bowl in just his second professional season...But under new defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis, Arrington’s role is more of a pass-rusher. In the first few weeks of this season, Arrington was unhappy and confused while playing that part. In recent weeks, he’s become more accepting.

October 16, 2005

“But the first sign of trouble came after Marvin Lewis took over the defense under Coach Steve Spurrier in 2002. Lewis and Arrington clashed over his role. Ultimately, Arrington thrived as a pass-rushing down lineman, posting a career-best 11 sacks.”

http://www.sports-central.org/community/boards/showthread.php?t=8396
October 2003

“SC: If you were the defensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins, how would you use LaVar Arrington?

LA: To be honest, if I was defensive coordinator for LaVar Arrington, I would probably stack the two linebackers in front of him and put him right behind them, let the D-line do what they do and if they get past the D-linemen, then he'll probably make the play. That's how I'd use him. And occasionally rush him here and there.”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A27280-2004Sep16.html
September 17, 2004

“Williams plans to sometimes use Arrington as a defensive end on third-down passing situations, a role that the linebacker groused about under defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis in 2002. Although Arrington finished with a career-high 11 sacks, tops among NFL linebackers, the part-time role strained his relationship with Lewis, who felt that the linebacker needed to improve his pass coverage. Last season under defensive coordinator George Edwards, Arrington was pleased that he rarely had to go into a three-point stance.
But Arrington hasn't expressed any qualms about being used as a down lineman in nickel packages, when the Redskins send five defensive backs onto the field. Arrington now says he shouldn't have resisted as much under Lewis, and added that the experience gave him more confidence with his hands on the ground.”

http://www.webskins.org/TWT/0902/092001.html
September 20, 2002

That’s why Arrington is playing defensive end on third downs, and that’s why he’ll stay there even though he’s going through some growing pains.
“Where else is he going to play?” Lewis asked yesterday at Redskin Park. “He will not embrace the intricacies of playing coverage on third down and get that done well enough. I’ve watched that. Everybody here has lived through that.

Re: How bout it Lavar
So when somebody has a good game its within the scheme, a bad game and he didn't. so if everyone is in the right place at the right time, no body should even be able to gain a single yard. I am so sick of hearing people say about him out of position when everyone else seems to get free passes. Sean Taylor is out of position on a few plays everygame, Marshall too. Clark is cought off guard once or twice a game. This crap has got to stop. We won the game, he had a typical LaVar game. leave it at that.
You do understand the "free" in free safety, don't you? Sean Taylor is called upon to roam. Linebackers are not..at least not in Williams' scheme.

Everyone being in position isn't going to result in the opposition not gaining yards, but it sure as hell minimizes the chances for big offensive plays, and maximizes the chances for big defensive plays.

All said and done, I'm happy for your boy. I hope he has an even better game next week.
Are you people kidding me. 5 yards, 1 time. compared to 10 tackles, int , forced fumble. you people are nit picking big time. I think we as a team played a pretty good game defensively, and you want to pick out one offside penalty? give me a break
His five yarder let to points - it extended a drive that led to a field goal. That's why people are nit picking on that one. However, that wasn't the dumbest play of the game - The dumbest play of the game was made by Sean Taylor - getting ejected.

I think LA believes in his mind he is auditioning for another team. He has been hurt and not played much so his name has been out of the limelight and some may question his skills so he needs to show the league he still has what it takes to play.

Re: How bout it Lavar

it,s really hard to argue when lavar has 10 tackles an interception for the day.
and sets the tone for the day for the defense like he did on saturday.yeah he jumped offsides but all in all he did great and i,m one that hopes he gets evrything smoothed out cause he will be a bigtime factor in gregg williams defense.

lavar show me saturday that he wants to play.
His stock went up a whole lot after this game, so chances are we could get more for him in a trade than we could have last week. However, I think that's exactly why we'll keep him.
I don't know why people say we can get this and get that for Levar. We can't get squat for him. It will cost us to much against the salary cap. We have to resign him to a new contract to lower his cap number or cut him in July to save against the 06' cap and take the hit in 07'.
