Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
Dude cousins has looked bad also he has 4 tds and 5 ints and 2 fumbles in his career
Give him the full week with the starters, give him the reps ( in practice) and then give him a few games as well. I don't expect him to light the world on fire though.... |
A 2nd year QB that had no preseason doesn't need work?
Ok.
Again though...it's not about him getting more reps. He's had 13 weeks of reps. He's coming off a major surgery, behind a shitty line and he's not playing well. All reasons to sit him down. MS isn't being 100% truthful but I really don't care. He's not my wife and I don't need him to tell me the truth. |
Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
Yeah why not protect Eli for next year? It's clearly a lost season for them. Why not get the young guy some experience?
|
Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
I agree with sitting RG3. Don't take any chances at this point. Make sure he has a full offseason. Getting snaps in an offense that won't be here next year won't hurt RG3. It will give us potential trade power on Cousins if he plays well.

Of course not. He's played terrible all year. But he's a two time SB winner and therefore he's not getting sat down. |
Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
Here's the obvious posturing that Shanahan is doing: none of the final three opponents on the schedule are going to get anywhere near Griffin. Dallas might try to blitz him, maybe. But Atlanta and New York can't get after the passer at all. Griffin is as safe as anyone from injury these last three weeks. Shanahan's argument is a red herring.

Not sure how you expect him to get better on the bench. The Cowboys didn't bench Aikman his rookie year when they went 1-15 and he took an absolute beating. Young QBs that were drafted high are rarely playing under the best of circumstances. But they need to play to improve. |

RG3 is going to be more ready for the next coach if he stays and plays. Sitting on the bench won't do anything for his development. |

Have the Pittsburgh Steelers pulled Ben Roethlisberger? No. Have the Buffalo Bills pulled EJ Manuel? No. Have the NY Giants pulled Eli Manning? No. Did the Minnesota Vikings pull Adrian Peterson? No. SO why in the fuck should the Redskins pull RGIII even though the season is lost? To protect him? Well fuck, why not just sit him out the next year as well. May get hurt you know. /facepalm This kid needs all the work he can get.
This |
He hired him!! Another failed hire by Dan.
Right and we can argue over whether he should have known better but ultimately he did hire him and has to own that. That doesn't make him responsible for the crap that Shanny is pulling. Be mad at DS for hiring MS. But hold back enough of that and aim it at MS for he is the one causing the problems currently. |

Um...didn't you watch Justin Tuck abuse Polumbus and Chester? Everyone can rush that passer against our line. |

It was probably a factor in the Week 1 start/sit decision. But he's almost a full year out. We're now in the "point" period of the 99.**% healthy/recovered. You can round up to 100%.
He's taken a billion hits this season so I'm sure Griffin isn't healthy at this point between all the ailments one gets from playing through a football season. Resting him will heal those ailments, sure, but it doesn't really matter if he rests now or in three weeks. When he returns for March in OTA's he's going to be 100%. If he gets an injury in the next three weeks, that's really unfortunate, but the season isn't over yet and they can't just play it like he is. Cousins could tear something too if he's playing, and then you lose whatever trade value you had on him. |
