Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry
I wonder how long it will take to announce the replacement DC. I hope its a reasonably quick signing. Seems like several good ready to go options.

I would rather drag my nuts across a cheese grater than watch Jeff Fisher coach for us. |
First, I would like to say that I feel like a kid on Christmas morning that Barry has been canned! Wouldn't mind seeing Wade Phillips or maybe even Gus Bradley.
Second, This is my first post on this site, I have spent some time with Extreme Skins but grew tired of that site. Did a little looking around and like the feel of this one. Hope to have some good interactions on here.....also I BS around on twitter with fellow Skins fans as well, follow me @JRouse84
How many times on the Extreme Skins site have you seen a poster suggest that a coaching candidate should eat a bowl of dicks? This is clearly the superior site! |
Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry
Glad to see Barry go, I understand he had a lack of talent but his scheme was brutal. It'd be interesting if we consider going a 4-3 coordinator. We have such a lack of talent at pretty much any position, I'd consider moving back to the 4-3 if that's what the best coordinator is comfortable with running.

If it's Gus Bradley I'm happy, if it's Manusky I'm pissed. But if it's Wade then I'm ecstatic.
The Redskins are a billion dollar franchise. For this, we hired an incompetent coordinator (Barry) with a long history of losing -- just because he's buddies with the head coach? And somehow surprised things didn't work. The D-coach is a big decision, frankly if Gruden chooses Manusky, I'd put Gruden on the hot-seat for next year. Tired of losing because of bonehead moves like this. |

As was pointed out before, the Redskins played plenty of 4-3 this year. The new defensive coordinator will be moot unless they find someone who can consistently rush the QB. The three defensive ends (Kerrigan, Smith+ Murphy) are inconsistent at best. I would like to see the number of hurries they had.... sack numbers are misleading if the DEs disappear for the rest of the game. Junior is the wildcard, if he can stay healthy and regain his form from the past. He is the only current player with explosive speed. |

I like the idea, but only if he gets appointed to be our defensive captain every single game as some sort of public humiliation. |

Don't worry. If Jay Gruden screws up this hire, he's as good as gone by the end of next season. Guaranteed. |

On the contrary, giving Gruden another chance to start over on the defense tells me Bruce and/or Scot really likes him. If this next season totally goes to shit Gruden could be fired I suppose, but if it's just the defense that's bad and his offense is still playing well I would bet anything he and his D coordinator will be back for another year. Going further, this makes me more optimistic we get a long term deal done with Cousins. Bruce/Scot will want to give their coach his guy at QB |

So like Barry he can't turn chicken feed into chicken salad. Granted when he did have talent his defense was on point. And McCloughan did construct his best units so they may rekindles their defensive wizardry if they reunite. Second I have heard he plans on following Anthony Lynn, wherever he goes, to be his DC: https://www.google.com/amp/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/01/01/report-gus-bradley-to-go-with-anthony-lynn-this-offseason/amp/?client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us https://www.google.com/amp/ftw.usatoday.com/2017/01/gus-bradley-anthony-lynn-jacksonville-jaguars-awkward/amp |
Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry
The DC job should interest top candidates: we're going heavy on D this draft, the offense is in good shape, and the old guy is leaving small shoes to fill. The days when the best coach we could attract was Jim Zorn seem to be behind us.

Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry
If Jeff Fishfucker becomes our defensive coordinator I'm switching teams or just never watching football again.

Considering Fisher is holding a grudge against The Skins, for sacking his boy Shanahan, Kanye West and George W. Bush singing a duet would be more probable. |
