Yeah I'm thinking the pro name change people didn't care much for this either |
Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue
Just a thought, but has anyone thought to survey the people of Boston about the proposal? I mean, they named the team didn't they? ;)
Or look at it this way, I'm born in Birmingham UK. I'm not aware of anyone here protesting about Alabama. If you've been to Boston in Lincolnshire, then I think I know which version you'd prefer.:) |
Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue
The name change will be just the beginning.. next they will remove the redskins from the history books .. just like the statues .. they might add asterisk in the history books but those great super bowl teams will not be referred to the redskins ..this is sad but to be honest I’m over it all anyways .. who do I apologize to for ever even pulling for such a team with a name like that ... hell we are now apologizing for the American flag for Gods sake ! The people who find this name offensive are not football fans okay .. the want to impose there will on everything.. I see the nfl completely going in tank .. you don’t think there won’t be huge potential violent protest at nfl games in these big cities .. I would not go to a stadium if given free tickets for a whole season ! It’s a damn shame .

Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue
Can’t say I am shocked. GPM was an ass hat and since that stadium is no longer used or even leased by the Redskins no big surprise. If they move back to DC do you guys think there will be provisions preventing GPM’s name likeness? Especially if the use federal land?

Adrian Peterson speaks on this issue ....
https://www.hogshaven.com/2020/6/20/21297740/adrian-peterson-talks-about-removing-the-george-preston-marshall Changing the Redskins name: "We hear the chatter about it, but it’s not something that we address as a team. For the past three years that I've been there, we've had the Native Americans come in and have a day just for them to come in and tour the facility and do everything. It's always good to interact with those people, and to show those people love as well. For me, my take on it is that I like to look at things at all angles. So I understand how people view it and say ‘You know what, it’s racist.’ And then on the flip side, I also look at it and, say for me it’s truth in plain sight. You’ve got the capital of the United States, and the NFL team there is the Washington Redskins. It’s way deeper than I think a lot of people view it. I look at it in the light, and understand that people are offended by it, and I look at it in the light and say ‘You know what, I can see where you can, this is your team, this is your state, this is your country.’ How you can find pride in that as well. I look at it, and I can understand so many people's views. That's why I'm able to just agree or disagree when it comes to looking at both sides." Uhhhh ..... wut? I guess it's a good thing he can run the football pretty well. |

Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue
Since most of us on here are pretty diehard Redskins fans, I'd like to see the results of a poll from us if the Redskins were to change their name. For example, if they did change the name:
I'm good with it, still going to pull for them no matter what I'm good with it as long as it still represents Native Americans in some way, otherwise I'm out I'm good with it as long as they keep the same helmets and colors, otherwise I'm out I'm good with it as long as they keep the same colors, otherwise I'm out Totally against it, but would still pull for the team Totally against it, and would probably change teams |
